Love Huber’s - the environment never disappoints... open since 1879 and the drinks and food are always on point 👍
The oyster sandwich was very good. Ordered it without the bread and it was perfect lunch item.
Hubers is always or favorite for a nice dinner or late night cocktail and dessert when we are in town.
Great service .. great experience!!
When we arrived the front dining area was close and we did not want to sit in the bar due to noise, the host was so nice to reopen the dining area for us! Exceptional service!!!
I’ve gone to Huber’s 3 times now. Once in a group with about 6 of my gal pals for a ladies night and twice with my partner for date nights. It’s been wonderful every time. Amazing food, great cocktails and wonderful service. 5 stars well deserved!
We had never been to Huber's before, but thought it would be a great place to try out. The service was very slow, but the great ambiance and lovely decor made up for that. We had made reservations and were directed to the bar area, although a beautiful setting it was quite noisy and asked to be seated in the front area where it is quieter. They accommodated us with ease. The food was great and being able to catch up with our friends was better. Will try to go back on our next trip.
We were in Portland to see family. Choose this restaurant for the ambiance and history. It was lovely! The waitress was pleasant and helpful. The table had the turkey special, pork tenderloin, fish and chips and crab cakes. All were delicious and the portions were large. We would reccommend to everyone.
Excellent food, service, atmosphere! Love Huber's! Best Spanish coffee too!!
Friendly staff - great food, fun history! Spanish coffee :-)
teenagers and my mom and I enjoyed!
Excellent, as usual. Husband and I both had the half turkey, half ham dinner special, two sazerac cocktails, glass of wine and oyster shooter. Total bill (not including tip) was under $70; amazing value! Very tasty meal in a historical setting. Service was solid.
We love Hubers and try to get a reservation every holiday. We recently went for Easter dinner, which was delicious as usual. However, even though I made my reservation well in advance, I did not get the table I requested. No matter, it was still fine. The service is always great. Prices are as you would expect for downtown Portland, but the portions are very generous and well worth the price. I highly recommend Hubers. The bar is a bit noisy, but we love the activity.
We had a fun "Spring Is Sprung, Happy Easter" dinner complete with lovely Spanish Coffees. It was very festive with accompanying noise level! Nice, cosy, old style feeling, good comfort food and great service. Thank you.
We were seated ( a party of 6 ) in the bar right in the path to and from the buffet, even though the reservations were made almost 2mths ago. The buffet was quite good so that helped out way disappointment with the seating a bit.
Fun experience for our family and guests at the oldest restaurant in Portland. Spanish coffee presentation was entertaining.
The food was great. We had reservations and they sat us in the bar and it was VERY loud. I had a hard time hearing the person across from me at a two person table. I would go back with buddies not a date.
Great Food.....Had the Roast Turkey Dinner.
Suggestions : It’s time to replace the OLD HARD CHAIRS or at least NEW CUSHIONS would make sitting more comfortable. Hard to enjoy the whole “ HUBERS “ experience with terribly HARD SEATS.
And come on the Bathrooms are DISGUSTING
Wouldn’t take much to spruce up the Rest Rooms a little fresh paint and some decor would make a huge difference and make your customers HAPPY......Won’t Return....!!!
The chicken in the Cobb salad was gristly/inedible. My friend and I had to talk loudly to hear each other. Overall I like the ambiance, but expected better of the meal for the $13.95 salad price tag.
Only wrote good for the food because we didn’t eat so I had nothing to judge
I love Huber's, a classic Portland fave for years. They complimentary birthday desserts. The magician was fantastic. I made the reservation through opentable and forgot to request for a table in the original dining hall. It was the first time taking the teenagers for birthdays so I wanted it to be really special. The restaurant stated because a 3rd party was used for reservation booking, they couldn't accomodate that request, so we were stuck at a table next to the door in the other area and had to eat with our coats on since it was so cold by the door. A partition needs to be placed in that area to keep diners from the draft of the door opening constantly. I will call the restaurant next time directly and will not be using opentable again.
Great food! Great experience!
One of my favorite places in Portland! Always dependable, always delicious and of course a great value!
Iconic part of Portland. Spanish coffee is awesome.
Superb as always. Old-time service that's much like the classic restaurants in Boston. A truly special place in Portland.
didn't know that you had to call to request seating on the bar side? the restaurant side was nice but not as lively as he bar side.
I haven't been to Huber's in years and it was great to see that nothing has changed. The food is fantastic and Summer, our server, was spot on. If you have not had one of their hand crafted, table-side Spanish coffees, you need that in your life. I recommend Huber's to anyone visiting Portland for special occasions but the place is great anytime.
Oldest restaurant in Portland - good old early 1900's "German" feel - dark mahogany wood and stained glass ceiling inserts. If you like eating good food in an old setting, this is a good place. Service staff was young and very attentive/energetic. Aimed to please. Good solid food staples, nothing fancy. Neat stories of the past. Be sure to sit in the old dining room - newer addition is not much to write home about. Not the best part of town, but Portland downtown is a shady/seedy place to begin with.
It was a great dinner with our Australian cousins and to celebrate a birthday. We were located in the front room which is a LOT quieter than the bar. The food was delicious and the Spanish Coffee presentation was impressive!
Very enjoyable evening. Unfortunate they'd run out of the menu choice I wanted so I had to substitute...but the food was overall quite good and we had an excellent server.
Food was good service was slow
Comfort food with something for everyone and great service!
Lovely as usual -a Portland landmark - nice ambience and delicious Spanish coffees!
Absolutely the Best Spanish coffees Great happy hour and great service.
A must for any visitor to Portland.
Delightful experience in old Portland establishment. Menu offered a number of choices to our liking. Though known for their roast turkey or ham dinners, it was the cobb salad and the steamed clams that we chose and heartily enjoyed. Finished with the famous Spanish Coffees prepared at the table with great flourish! We are native Portlanders who found the welcoming ambience of generations past. Highly recommend Huber’s for any occasion and to give guests a “taste” of Portland.
We had the house specialty of the turkey dinner and the half-n-half (turkey and ham) dinner. Both were excellent. Portions were good. Turkey dinner came with broccoli, sage dressing, mashed potatoes, beer bread, and cranberries. Also had their Spanish coffee - it was an entertaining presentation because they make it right at your table. And they use plenty of alcohol, so it was quite strong. If you want a delicious traditional turkey dinner, go to Huber's Cafe.
Consistently wonderful. Thanks for accommodating us by putting us in the back corner of the bar (much easier to hear one another for a larger group).
Good food but slow service
Classic "old" Portland restaurant. Food is good, the bar is awesome.
We enjoyed the restaurant with its history and decorations. I decided to take my wife to a special Valentines dinner in Portland as we live in Vancouver.
I was surprised that three other couples were seated 15 up to 30 minutes after we sat at our table and they received bread and butter to snack on. I had to request bread and butter and the same tables received their meals but took a full hour till we were served. The food was good but over priced. We heard so much about your restaurant but will not go back and not likely to recommend it.
Great restaurant great food great staff but they seated us in a 2 chair walk table with a corner pillar type fixiture behind each of our chairs and the bar 2 feet to the other side so it was cramped and it felt like we were sitting in the walkway
