Service was terrible! The server forgot to bring drinks, couldn’t grab her attention. And there were only 3 tables filled.
My boyfriend and I went to Hubbard in on a date. Great food, fun, energetic music, and a rich ambiance. While a little loud, we enjoyed the energy of the restaurant and dinned on well prepared unique dishes! I highly recommend checking Hubbard Inn out!
The food was great here, and the ambiance is fine. But boy, the kitchen took a long time to bring our food. We only ordered 5 appetizers for lunch and they didn't bring us our food until almost an hour after we were seated, and we ordered just a few minutes after we sat down. This nearly made us late for our meeting after lunch.
The waitress said there was a party going on upstairs, but that seems like a weak excuse because you can plan ahead for parties and for a weekday lunch demand.
I was disappointed in what appeared to be poor planning on the part of the restaurant.
Very cute and stylish place but service and food do not live up to the decor. Constantly hunting down the server to ask for things, sent food back b/c not what ordered and still getting it wrong. Too bad - nice vibe but won't be back soon.
Food was good. Was there with a group of 9 and server wasn't super attentive and even seemed annoyed at times.
Stumbling upon Hubbard Inn ended up being the best way to end the evening in Chicago. The atmosphere is cozy, and chic without trying too hard. Staff was welcoming and friendly and got us to our table right away. The cocktail list is very fresh and would be a great reason to visit on it's own. We had the salmon deviled eggs as a snack to share, and we all really enjoyed them. After we ordered our dinners we didn't wait too long for them to show up. There was one mistake on an order, but the server noticed it before it even was placed on the table and had it corrected right away. The only drawback was that our server was given another large table and didn't have as much time for us so we were not able to order another round of drinks. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
Drinks are decent but overpriced. Service is extremely slow despite being at most 50% full. Tacky decor.
Great, friendly staff. The food was incredible I highly recommend the lobster omelet. The artwork and the chairs were beautiful too! Romantic setting in the booth. Can’t wait to go back!
Brunch was delicious and service couldn’t be beffdf
Surprised at how loud it was even when half empty. Food good but didn’t blow me away. Fun atmosphere, reasonable prices
The food is always fantastic!!!
A nice spot to grab a drink with friends. Service was attentive and friendly.
I liked it. I just wish that the menu on the web matched the actual menu. I’d had my tastebuds ready for 2 dishes that weren’t on the menu when I arrived. Still, it was a good experience. I’d go back.
I still covered it on my ishouldbemuchfatter foodie blog.
Food was terrible! Everything was so bad... and I think it was imitation crab. Oysters were disgusting.
Wonderful cocktail menu and delicious food. I had a friends get together here this past weekend and even with people having numerous competing food restrictions this place was able to cater to all of us. Gets a little loud later in the night, but i think that's part of the ambiance.
Service was impeccable; however their ability to deal with food allergies was lacking. I would absolutely recommend this place for drinks and simple apps if one has any food allergies. My boyfriend loved their “on menu” food and it smelled fantastic! Our server was amazing and very attentive; I would go back save for my allergy to garlic which they put in everything.
The waitress never asked how the food was, the oysters were not shucked properly, the vegetables were bland and there were forgotten items.
Our server, Tessa, was amazing. When asked what she would recommend, she named 6-8 items giving details about how they were prepared and what made them amazing. She was enthusiastic and checked back with us several times. We were in Chicago on business for the second time and this was the best meal with the best server we had in Chicago. Hubbard Inn will be on our list for our next visit and we will definitely ask for Tessa.
My perception based on the website was a quiet more elegant fine dining establishment and I was surprised when I walked in the door to the entire place singing loudly.
It was a fun atmosphere, just very difficult to talk as it was more of a bar scene.
Not a place a would have chose after a long day. But I could see it for a fun night out not to catch up with friends I wanted to talk to after months of not getting together.
Had a nice dinner here on Saturday night, choosing to share a selection of small plates/ appetizers. The flat breads are exceptional. Service was perfect and the place is beautifully decorated. We’ll be back!
The food was very good! My entrees: the seared scallops, salmon ... along with my salad with anchovies was delicious.
The service particularly the server/waiter was extremely lackluster almost as if in hurry the leave or disinterested in working.
The noise level was unbearable. I couldn't hear my guest DIRECTLY next to me.
Nice restaurant in River North with a cool decor and vibe inside. If you're going for dinner, know that at some point in the night, around 8pm or so the music will get very loud, so you may need to yell across the table to have a conversation. Definitely worth checking out, especially for happy hour.
The brunch was great. Lots of options . We were a group of 7 and the service was great!
Went for brunch! Ordered the turkey crepe and loved it.
Nice vibe with good apps but the entrees were subpar.
Go for the drinks, vibe, and snacks. Stay for the meal if you must.
It wasn't my first time but it had been awhile. I thought the food was terrific! The flat bread was good but didn't wow me. However the taco Tina tartar was to die for. Also ordered the salmon and the scallops and both were better than expected. I had a Gilt city voucher for $80 and two apps and two entrees was basically covered by voucher. I just had to pay $27 extra for tip basically.
Arrived at 6:50
No information about event posted or shared. At 7 we went to get info from young lady. She ignored us and attempted to take care of another party that had just walked in. We asked for details, apparently there is a secret that wasn’t shared. We should’ve made a reservation along with printing out our ticket to the event. Because we were given a drink ticket with no additional info and no where to sit. So we were told to stand around bar and mingle.
Made reservation on opentable. For 7:30. But they were “overbooked” so we had to wait until 7:45 to be seated after standing around and mingling since 6:50.
So we eat and drink and be merry. And at 9:15 another “manager” comes by and assumes that we just sat ourselves and proceeds to tell us that the table we are at was reserved. So we say yes we had a reservation and the manager sat us here. So he says he’s the manager and this table was reserved so he’s gonna see what’s going on.
We asked young lady for updates and help with seating and she was unhelpful and dismissive. She stated that we would be seated in 10 minutes at one point and 20 minutes later we were still unseated and not even kept abreast of the situation. Finally she found a manager who squeezed us at a table sandwiched between the bar and a pole.
For an event that has been going on for a long time, why is it so disorganized. Why not have a face friendly face upfront that answers questions.
I’ve never felt so ignored or dismissed. I felt invisible. Luckily I had on flats. Because standing in front of the door while they brought pianos by and seated countless other people as soon as they walked in was very tiring and would’ve taken a toll on my feet.
I would say how the drinks were or the food was but I like to be honest. And because I’m already so disillusioned with my treatment/experience here, I can’t give an unbiased opinion of either.
I will NEVER come here again. I would NEVER recommend this place.
We went on a Sunday for dinner and it was not crowded at all, thus, very quiet. The food was delicious and service was excellent. We’ll go back.
Great food and excellent service...just not conversation-friendly!
We enjoyed a fabulous Brunch. Great food, great service, great atmosphere.
We were visiting the Chicago area from out of town for New Year’s Eve. We picked the Hubbard Inn to have brunch the next day and to catch up before everyone left town. I had perused the menu online ahead of time and found some good choices. When we arrived we were told that there was actually a “free buffet“ for New Year’s Day and & no regular menu & all we had to do was buy drinks. We were excited by the prospect of “free food“to celebrate the new year. The hostess had mentioned that some people were upset because they weren’t able to order off the menu. We thought that it was a nice surprise! Our server was awesome and attentive as was the rest of the staff. If I ever make it back to Chicago I would definitely visit Hubbard Inn!
Great tasting food however our only complaint would be we were one of 3 tables in the restaurant and the food was served cool, not hot.
My husband and I were visiting the city for Christmas. We went later on a Wednesday night, it was a little loud, but just because it was Ladies Night. Tessa was our server and she was fantastic! The bacon wrapped dates as an appetizer were DELICIOUS and a must have! We will definitely go back next time we’re in the city!!!
Great food. Our server, Carlos, was super friendly and accommodating.
Very loud, too loud for dinner. Fun to go out for drinks with friends but not for a family dinner. Also, menu is limited. Food and drinks were both good. Bathrooms were in horrible shape.
We had brunch. The menu consisted of mostly staples but done with a twist. Execution was very good. We loved the chorizo. Service was spotty, but were towards the end of brunch hours. We will certainly be back. We wish they had valet parking.
The wild rice soup and the cheese flatbread were good. We ordered the monkey bread but had to send it back because the middle was uncooked. The management was quick and efficient in dealing with the problem and comped our flatbread without us even asking. Very good customer service!
Really enjoyed Hubbard Inn, except for the noise level. It was very loud, almost too loud.
Felt you had to speak loudly to be heard in our booth.
Very interesting interior of building. Would have liked to see the upstairs, but there was a party going on.
Our servers were great, very attentive.
Will come back again.
Also, the live music was great, nice artist. Can’t remember their name.
I was hoping for a unique place to take my Mom to that neither of us had been. Online the Hubbard Inn looked very unique with amazing decor and a menu with variety. When we walked in it was more of a bar that was extremely noisy and when asked if we could change our table that hey had given us we were told no. It’s a shame because instead of eating a full meal as planned all we got was a drink and an appetizer. If your looking for a very laid back place to go grab drinks after work i would recommend for that but not for a date or nice dinner.
