Not sure how to rate this. I shouldn’t have been able to make a reservation for an establishment that is permanently closed. Also shouldn’t have been able to buy a Groupon for brunch. Bad form, guys. Ive been here before and this is not something I’d expect you.
Good beer and food; the meat and potatoes were a little over cooked , but overall it was fine.
Mother’s Day brunch was fantastic.
Food was good, drinks inventive. Loud even though not packed. Service was slow, I think the fault was staffing not the server. Had to ask twice for someone to find the waiter. Another table just helped themselves to more plates and utensils. This was 7pm on a Friday night with other restaurants up and down the street, not the way to effectively compete, I don’t think
Food was so so but expensive, not up to the quality I’d expect for the price we paid . It was a Friday night so it was busy but we had at least three waiters at first and towards the end we waited for 15 minutes for a drink order.
Great Value Happy hour!
I think there was only one server for the entire place! She did a great job considering how busy it was, but management should consider upping the staffing because we would have spent a lot more if the drinks didn’t take 15-20 minutes.
Menu looked great which is why we selected it, but the food we received was really disappointing. We went for brunch. Ordered Tuna Tartar; Kale Salad; and Burger.
Burger was dry and overcooked
Kale salad was terrible (limp, and overall not fresh) - dressing not tasty
Tartar was ok
The place was empty during peak Sunday Brunch time (12:00 p.m.), and it's not surprising. Waited with empty water glasses far too long; Got unlimited Bloody Mary's, but didn't get them timely, so that was a waste of investment.
We had the best server for bottomless mimosas. Most brunch places skimp you because you already are paying so it doesn’t matter how much they serve you. Our server made sure our carafes & glasses were full at all times. Had so much fun!
I mentioned this to the assistant GM. I don't think I would go back for dinner there.
Waited an hour and a half for our food.
hamburger was terribly overcooked and tiny. salad was blah and dressing was way too tangy. i ate the lunch only because i was hungry and had clients with me so i just wanted to get out quickly. no need to try again as there are plenty of other options in River North.
Overcharged by almost 20%. Tried to call back 7 times. Was hung up on bc she said she could hear me after I explained my issue then they stopped answering . I left a message. No issue to resolve.
In fairness, it was a Monday night. We asked them to turn down the music twice and they did, but it was still quite loud. The food was very good, the service was fine, except for the dessert/coffee. Our dessert took 45 minutes to arrive and the coffee never did - eventually the waiter said the coffee machine was broken.
We had a wonderful time here, although it was a little loud. Food was great.
The ambience is nice. The drinks were good but overpriced and the food was not good, overpriced and extremely salty (everyone with different entrees commented on how salty everything was.)
Great! Amazing food and bottomless mimosas.
Waiter wasn’t very attentive once he found out we had a gift card from Ladies Night. The Valentines Day Menu was tasty but my boyfriend and I definitely felt like second class citizens yet our bill total was $160 for the two of us.
I arrived with friends & family I haven't seen in a while. Quiet cocktail moment, and the place carried a nice ambience because it was mostly empty. The only thing we really regret was the music choices. Cocktails & Food were great!
We had a great time at the Hubbard Inn. This is the second time I hosted an event there, and am impressed with consistency of great service, and quality of food.
Perdo was our server and he was fantastic!
A cozy place to dine and refuge from the cold on a February Winter night in Chicago. Appetizers were terrific, we sampled our way through the menu and also enjoyed the Old Fashioneds and the Wine List. Will come back next time we are in the city! * would suggest a few more vegetarian items for the menu!
We went about a year ago and excited to get back but steak was tasteless and way over cooked. It was loud and a few parties happening one in main area by bar too loud took away from the atmosphere
Service was not good. All the meals came at different times, our flat bread we ordered for an appetizer came out at the end of our meal and one of the salmon entrees was completely raw.
It was my wife’s birthday day, it started out pretty crappy because our food was cold and there was only 1 other table in the restaurant. But they took care of us and our food after we notified the manager. Place was clean and staff were very nice. Would definitely go back.
Excellent food & service, I will definitely be back.
Great food and service but very noisy. Great location and good happy hour.
The waitress was not friendly at all and did not really attend to us. She was the person who brought out our meals. The food was great. The bar area was loud and it was not very busy. We were seated next to a very large group that was probably celebrating the holidays and there were other booths open further away from the noise. I would not recommend eating here. Probably drinks but no food service.
This was probably the worst meal we have ever had in Chicago. One other time we had a meal just as bad, but needless to say that restaurant is no longer there. My duck was good, but nothing exciting.
My husband ordered the Wild Boar there was about 3 small pieces of meat in it , and all the rest was noodles that were over cooked with added no flavor it was about as bland as chalk. The squash soup was bland, did not ever think squash soup would have no flavor. It also came out with our dinner, which it should of came out before that.
The waitress did comp the soup, she said she couldn't find a manager about the Wild Boar. Told the hostess about how disappointed we were, she really didn't care.
The music was so loud, and there was no reason for it. We could hardly hear each other and we were sitting across from each other.
I was considering changing our reservation to someplace else early in the day. Next time I go how my gut feels. Wish I would have.
Their menu on OPEN TABLE, was different then what they had.
It was just bad all the way around. Sure won't go back here again.
The Hubbard Inn is world class fine dining with excellent service and a vibrant bar scene.
My girlfriend and I celebrated my birthday there a couple of nights ago.
Our server Daniella and the rest of the team were wonderfully attentive without being overbearing. They were there whenever you would wish they would be and not when you would not.
But Chef Jason Hedin's culinary creations were the real star. My favorites are all in the category of best dishes I've ever had (anytime, anyplace):
-- The Ahi Tuna Tartare ("avocado, English ponzu, black rice cracker") (I liked this dish some much that I had two orders of it!);
-- The Chimichurri Cured King Ora Salmon ("smoke salmon roe, black lime, radish");
-- The Sustainable King Ora Salmon ("artichoke, salmon caviar, brown butter sauce"); and
-- A very large slice of a marble cake that is the Spanish version of baba au rhum with a fluffy cream. I felt like I was drinking port while eating marble cake.
Dinner was absolutely excellent.
This was our second visit -- and we're already looking forward to our third!
Poor service. Had to open the bottle of wine myself because the waitress didn’t know how to.. also took a while to get served. Probably won’t be back unfortunately.
Horrible service. Poorly timed delivery of food.
Tried to order various bars and cocktails off the menu, they did not have four of the beers and did not have the main spirit for one of their featured cocktails. Not good!
Although they could not find my open table reservation, they did seat us once I showed them my confirmation.
The atmosphere is very nice. The service although friendly was slow. Lobster bisque was great. The salmon was good but artichokes were over cooked. It took a long time for the dinner to come out. Overall it was an okay dinner .
Despite reservations we had to wait 15 minutes for our table and then rushed out because of an event later. Probably won’t come back. Also the flatbread tasted like a frozen Jacks pizza. Luckily I like a frozen pizza. But next time I’ll just buy it at the store. Server was great.
Our waitress just couldn’t seem to get the order right for one person at our table. First the wine she ordered was old and musty smelling. Then her side order of Brussel sprouts never came. Our waitress wanted to argue about cancelling the sprouts and she left the old wine on our bill.
However, it was a Friday night with a lot of holiday parties. So they were very busy. The rest of our party had great food; especially the lobster roll. Normally this is one of our favorite restaurants. I think they were just having a bad night.
The drinks and brussel sprouts were excellent, but the risotto left something to be desired. Very cool atmosphere.
Initially we were supposed to attend their Harry Potter themed Brunch only to find out 90min before our reservation that they no longer had the decorations set up. It was a total disappointment. However after speaking with the manager who was genuinely apologetic, we were able to make a bad situation good! Their service was impeccable. The food quality was 2nd to none and the ambiance was amazing! Based off of how well they turned a negative into a positive, we will DEFINITELY return in the near future! Thanks again!
We recently purchased tickets to the last weekend of the Butterbeer Brunch and I have to say, we were extremely disappointed. We had heard great things about the experience and had planned to take family from out of town to the event. When we arrived, all of the Harry Potter decor had been replaced with Christmas. The waiter informed us that we were unable to get the bottomless butterbeer that was included with our tickets, it was limited to one per person. I understand that there can be limited supply on certain items, but we did not get to experience anything we paid for. We paid to experience the Harry Potter event and this was no different than any other brunch in Chicago. Maybe it's our own fault for waiting until the last weekend, but as a company, when you set an end date for something that requires pre-purchased tickets, you do not remove the event before that date!
Great ambience. Our bartender Dennis made us feel welcome. Food was very good.
Great food, just more ‘bar-ish’ and party centric than we were expecting. We went on a Wednesday night and it was loud, early.
