Hubbard Grille Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I dined at your restaurant for New Year's Eve. We usually don't get out to dinner very often but our experience at your restaurant was amazing. Everything from the Matre-D to the service and of course the food was simply first class. Thank you for making our New year's Eve so special!
Winner Winner. $10 Chicken Dinner! I've been telling friends about the Tuesday special for 3 years and we could never get together on a Tuesday. We finally made it this Tuesday, and they all were upset they had to wait so long! The grits were amazing, the brussels fantastic, and the fried chicken. Delicious! The flatbread and hushpuppies to start were great, as was the chocolate tart, creme brulee, and fig upside down cake were a nice ending to the meal! We won't wait 3 years to come back! I promise!
Good was very good. We love the roasted Brussels sprout appetizer! Entrees and wine were wonderful. Service was a little rushed, which is not the norm, because our original server had an emergency and the restaurant was very busy. Will definitely eat here again.
My girlfriend and I came to Hubbard for our two year anniversary on a recommendation from several friends. Both of us were looking for something new and this seemed like a great place to check out since it was close to home and had he classy ambiance from the outside. I ended up having to reschedule our reservation earlier that day and although we were able to get a reservation through Open Table, the table we were given was terrible. We were placed at a high top right by the door in the bar area so we were a bit overcrowded and cold from the start. When asking to move, we were told it’d be an hour so we decided to hash it out and give it a try. We ordered the Brussels sprouts on a recommendation from a friend and lived up to the name. They were crispy and crunchy, full of flavor and plenty to eat. For our main course, my girlfriend ordered the walleye and I the Chimichurri Hanger Steak based on a recommendation from the waitress as it had an amazing chimichurri sauce. Although neither of us have eaten walleye before, the fish was tender but the bones kept finding their way into her mouth. The hanger steak was cooked to my liking, slightly charred and juicy but I feel a bit over priced and the sauce a bit bland. For a few dollars more, I would have preferred to get the filet. Between the apps and main meals, we left full but not overwhelmed. Overall, I’m rating this a good experience, but not great. If placing a reservation, I’d recommend calling the restaurant and if you’re in the mood for steak, swing the couple of bucks and try the filet, but definitely order up the Brussels sprouts.
We went to Hubbard Grille and only had an hour before leaving for the Dead & Company show on Saturday, November 25. We let our server know and still had a fantastic dining experience despite the time constraints. I started with a top-notch Manhattan, then moved on to the Korean Barbequed Lamb Chops. They were cooked just right - I asked for medium and they were. Delicious sesame chili sauce. My wife had a simple Hub Salad with shrimp, which she liked quite a bit. We also really enjoyed talking to our waiter Nick, whom we had met on our prior visit. Friendly spot with nice decor and great food. Great lighting too!
The food was exceptional. We had only gone for drinks in the past because we loved the atmosphere. We had dinner there for the first time it was so good we all had something different from the special to the filet it was all so good. We will definetly be back.
This was our first dining experience at Hubbard Grille. We had a great waitress who made great recommendations for us. We had shareable plates and sides and there was plenty of food! Loved the spin on mac and cheese!! The short ribs and shrimp on cheesy grits was good too. The Triple Choc flourless cake with banana ganache was the bomb!!! Great atmophere and overall dining experience.
Really enjoyed this place, easy to find and very friendly staff all around. Had a table by the bar initially but requested to be away from the windows due to temperature and it was no problem. whole restaurant is very comfortable and well decorated. service was very prompt and attentive and the food even better. Definitely recommend!
We love Hubbard Grille and took my parents there for dinner on a Saturday. I booked an early (6pm) reservation hoping to have it be a little quieter for conversation. We were lucky to be seated in a booth under the 2nd floor overhang, as Gallery Hop and the OSU game made the restaurant quite lively and relatively hard to hear one another. That being said, we had great cocktails, food, and service. As always, love Hubbard!
Night out with friends, went to Hubbard Grille before going to a play. As a vegan/vegetarian it can be difficult to find good food that is not a boring premade veggie pattie or salad. Those are great but not all the time. I’ve been craving the roasted cauliflower sandwich for months but realized it was no longer on the menu. No worries, the had other options so I chose the brown butter gnocchi (hold the chicken) and WOW was it good. My friend (1st time patron and not very food adventurous) had the salmon and absolutely loved it. Service was great, our water never got low and the waitress was perfectly attentive and helped with getting creative off the bar menu. Had a great, meal and will definitely go back soon. One minor complaint, I looked on open table and saw availability, but decided to call instead. The lady who answered said they were all booked up?? So I reserved thru open table and they were ready for us when we arrived even though there was a line. Thought that was odd.
Our reservation was for two but we ended up with five people. The hostess was very accommodating and gracious. We had Brussel sprouts that were outstanding. Two of us had the scallops, two had walleye and one had the pork chop. Everyone of us had a great meal! We did not have dessert. Would absolutely recommend!
We chose this location due to the farm to table and "naturally" gluten free options. We were not disappointed at all. The brussel sprouts were perfectly cooked in a red wine reduction sauce. The Old Fashioned drink was outstanding along with a great local beer selection. The entrees especially the Pork Chop were prepared to our liking. The waiter "Nick" was outstanding and extremely customer focused. this is definitely a Gem in the Short North.
We will return on our next visit.
