About HUB 51
HUB 51 is the River North creation from R.J. and Jerrod Melman, the younger generation of the Lettuce Entertain You organization. HUB 51 is a convergence of entertainment, nightlife, dining and social activity-much like the offbeat creations of LEYE were years ago. Striving to be at the heart of Chicago's social and dining scene, the attitude at HUB 51 is to expect the unexpected, a place offering unconventional perks, and outstanding food, drink and service in a spacious urban setting.

HUB 51 Ratings and Reviews
We had a very good meal, starting with sushi, I enjoyed the kale salad and my son enjoyed Southwest chicken salad with the cauliflower Mac and cheese. Everything was prepared wonderfully and the service was very good. The tables are a bit close together and it didn’t impede on our conversation for a busy Friday night.
Food was OK at Hub51 and the staff put my group at a nice table in the back. We ordered appetizers and a variety of entrees. Mine was a turkey meat loaf that was Ok and I could only finish half of it. My major complaint is the Lettuce Entertain You points program. I gave the waiter the number that I was suppose to pull up for the credit. That credit never showed up and now LEYE is asking for a receipt. Well I organized the dinner but my boss paid for it. He has the receipt now I do not. I will keep that in mind when scheduling future events.
Tried Hub 51 for brunch because the menu had more variety and choices than most other places nearby. We were not disappointed. The breakfast nachos were excellent, and the service was very good despite the place being very busy. Will try it again when in the area.
I took a close friend here for her birthday brunch (she loves the lemon skinny pancakes) and per usual, the food and drinks were outstanding, and the service was probably the best I've ever had. This remains among my top places to eat in the city going on about six years now.
This is in a great location off of Hubbard Street, service was outstanding. Food was very good but competes with several outstanding restaurants in that area. It can certainly be a little loud. I had the crispy cauliflower appetizer and the chicken tacos, both of which were excellent.
This loud but vibrant neighborhood gastro pub gets an "A' for creative pub food. It has a very industrial feel and has some creative takes on common dishes. It is very family friendly. Not the quintessential business spot but everyone had fun. A nice diverse menu that included sushi but hamburgers, tacos, meatloaf and creative salads. Good service despite being a Friday night and crowded.
Such s great experience that we went back the next night as well! First night we shared sushi and I had the Brussels sprout salad with salmon - salmon was cooked to perfection it was so tasty! The second night we had the sushi again and then I ordered the pork tacos and shared the butter not squash tacos. Amazing yet again and I think I preferred the butter not squash and lentil tacos but they were all fantastic. Great ambience, great service, and we even got a free piece of cake. I would choose the carrot cake with cream cheese frosting - you would not be disappointed.
Our waitress was fantastic. I ordered my cheeseburger medium and it came out medium rare so I asked if it could be cooked a bit more. I had already eaten most of my fries at this point. She was so apologetic, took the plate and brought back a freshly cooked (medium) burger along with a whole bowl of new fries. When we got our check she apologized about the burger again and gave us free carrot cake to take home. We’d definitely eat here again!
Had a lovely lunch to celebrate my adult son's birthday. Only thing was that I didn't know that the menu was primarily brunch. This didn't turn out to be an issue as the "birthday boy" was happy to get waffles and bacon. The menu still included some sandwiches and salads so all of us were happy. Kind of a full circle experience for me as I grew up with RJ Grunts being one of my favorite restaurants--was fun to think that this was the real RJ's restaurant!
Hub51 has a diverse menu perfect for any foodie, vegetarian or meat lover. We arrived later in the evening and at the advice of our waitress ordered plates to share. Note: The Nachos, Hummus and Salads are all delicious but quite large! Our goal was to eat light. Unfortunately we had wayyyyyyy too much food. All the food was tasty, just too much of it, and disappointing to waste both food and financially. Really love the atmosphere although it gets loud when the dining area is packed.
Went with my husband for early dinner. It’s Sunday and we never had the egg rolls.. fantastic! Had three green bites (our fave) and sushi. Tried the Lemon Merengue pie.. again best we ever had. Second time I’ve been there this week. As i have said, it’s our “go to” place.
I love Hub51 for happy hour and date night, but was disappointed with my first brunch experience there. The day-breaker omelette was runny and bland - egg whites have much more potential than presented here. The avocado salsa topping was literally two small pieces of avocado, not even a sliver. The turkey inside was deli-meat style, not the "roasted turkey" quality I would expect from Hub51, especially for the price point. Will go back, but not for brunch.
We sat outside by choice but there was a couple smoking nearby shortly after we placed our order and the smoke was a direct hit on us sitting outside. We may have asked to move inside but the server was not super attentive. After ordering, we waited a lengthy time( well over 30 min), with no one stopping by to check in. The food was ok. With so many great restaurants, I feel that there are better choices.
We love Hub 51, been going since it opened.
We always get one of the booths if available, they have it in the computer and give great service. The new turkey meatloaf sandwich..
Omg!! It’s the best, used to have it and then stopped. So glad it’s back. Hub is our go to place always
