About HUB 51
HUB 51 is the River North creation from R.J. and Jerrod Melman, the younger generation of the Lettuce Entertain You organization. HUB 51 is a convergence of entertainment, nightlife, dining and social activity-much like the offbeat creations of LEYE were years ago. Striving to be at the heart of Chicago's social and dining scene, the attitude at HUB 51 is to expect the unexpected, a place offering unconventional perks, and outstanding food, drink and service in a spacious urban setting.

HUB 51 Ratings and Reviews
Unfortunately, the experience was a disappointment. The food was terrible, and had it not been for the cost of the meal, it wouldn't be worth leaving a review. The meal cost was too much for that low of quality. Our waitress was nice, no complaints there with the staff.
My decision to take my friends to brunch at Hub51 was a total disaster. First, this restaurant is described as Family Friendly on Lettuce Entertain You web site, but they didn't even have a children's menu (nor any crayons or menu to color, which can be helpful). We sat down just after 1pm and were informed that only the Brunch menu was available. During out stay, at about 2pm, we observed sushi (which was not on the brunch menu) being delivered to a table next to ours. Now when we sat down, I specifically asked about ordering sushi and was told that it was not available until after 3pm.
We ordered sandwiches (directly off the menu, no special items). After an hour, I had to track down our server to see where our food was (as I had observed the table next to ours, sit down after us, eat, and leave). He reappeared 10 minutes later stating that there was a "glitch" and that our food would be out soon. It arrived 10-15 minutes later (almost an 1.5 hour after we sat down). When the food arrived, one of the orders was incorrect (mustard on the sandwich and the request was for no mustard, per my pregnant friend), so it had to be sent back again to be re-done. At this point, my toddler was falling asleep at the table and needed to get home for a nap. What was supposed to be a quick lunch turned into a 2-3 hour adventure. We were told that the manager would "take care of it". But imagine my surprise when I then received a bill for over $50. Only 3 items were taken off. I asked our server about it and he went to check it out. Ten minutes later, our bill was taken care of. But no sincere apologies from the waiter or the manager. The food was mediocre and not worth the hassle. Would not return, especially with a toddler.
We showed up for dinner at 6 on a Saturday and valeted our car. The service was phenomenal. We got the Poke appetizer and it was unique and delicious. My husband and I both got tacos, vegetarian and fish which was a good portion and really good. not particularly unique, but good food. The valet is really slow but other than that a good experience.
We had a great experience at Hub51. Other people have commented on the pulled chicken nachos and they are excellent. There was more than enough for the three of us as we got them as a appetizer before our main meal. The drinks were great and was surprised that they had Goose Island Bourbon County Stout on tap. We will definitely come back.
We had a terrific dinner before catching a show at The Chicago Theater. The service was extremely friendly and prompt, and the food was very good. The prices were very reasonable for that area of the city. Will definitely have to make a return trip to try the famed nachos that everyone seemed to be eating!
It was a frustrating experience. While the waitress was nice service was lacking. She came by after quite some time to take drinks and order. Then after we got our food didn't see her for another 20-30 minutes. She shared her frustration that she was the only person covering the bar area for 18 tables. She then brought a second round of drinks without the table asking for them. Food was still good, but if that is how a reservation for 5 for a business meal is serviced we will not be returning to the restaurant.
We have been coming to Hub since it’s opening. We adore Lettuce Restaurants. However, this experience has continued what we all feel has been a downward spiral. We used to relish e nachos and Sunday night egg rolls. The rolls were exceedingly salty and the nachos just not good. The burgers had to be sent back as too rare and then burned(asked for medium). Salad was to have no dressing. Yet it was smothered.
We dine frequently at rpm steak and Italian, Ema, wildfire, and dipescara. Hub is out of our lettuce rotation.
Went to HUB 51 before seeing St.Vincent last weekend. Although the ambiance was rather loud, the food and cocktails were delicious. There's a little something for everyone here, including burgers, sushi, and Mexican food. Also, the prices weren't incredibly exorbitant.
Went here for late brunch. Their veggie burger is pretty delicious. We also got a breakfast burrito which was beyond bland -- I don't think they even added salt. I had to douse it in cholula to give it some flavor. We also tried their cereal milk cocktail which was super tiny for the price, pretty good at first but then it was hard to finish (even though I was sharing it with fiancé). The restaurant is nice from the inside! I might go back to try some of their lunch options. They participate in LettuceEats as well!
Hub 51 has a great atmosphere. Definitely swanky inside. The food was excellent and represented a good value. There is a dance club downstairs, but we were too early for that.
My dining occurred on New Year's Eve, but they still paid very close attention to my needs.
I ate the premium fish, grilled fish tacos. The portion was a good size and the food came out appetizing and hot. I will return again.
