I loved the space, and being seated just over the water the views were great, and the food was AMAZING much get the Salmon.
I come here about once a year and I really like all the variety of food they have for Sunday Brunch. sitting near the water makes up for this run down place.
The restaurant is located at the waterfront of Berkeley. It is an excellent place to watch the beautiful sunset with Golden Gate Bridge in the background. There are usually plenty of parking spaces and open tables. So reservation is not absolutely necessary. The service is excellent. The seafood dishes we ordered were all very good. The prices are reasonable. I highly recommend it for semi-casual dinning.
This place could be a gem. The building really needs a revamp. The food was not very tasty. I had fish and chips and the fish was overcooked. I would not recommend this restaurant.
I've been to HS only for the buffet style (Saturday Brunch) those are great.
This time we came for V-Day. The worst the food was very small portioned, not seasoned at all. The waiter only checked on the table once, we had to keep asking another table's waiter to supply our needs. We were never offered a regular drink just the complementary Champagne however my fiancee doesn't drink. Normally we have no problem paying for high end dining but this was the worst and the pricing made the experience so much worse. I would also recommend the owner put in new carpet and freshen up place it smells really bad when you enter the building. Really disappointing like I said the Buffet Brunch is awesome so for this to be our experience we were/are scarred.
The place it's on a beautiful spot.. However, there is a lot of upgrades that needs to be made.. The carpet it's old red, the tables are old, the chairs are super old.. If they can just spend a little money making it look more appealing it would be nice. The food was only ok, the price was expensive. They had me waiting for 30 mnts even though my reservation was at 815 and there was no to many people there. The staff seem not happy and they were wearing very casual clothing. This place has a lot of potential it's sad to see that they are not making an effort to make the place better.
The restaurant was nice and the ambience was pretty good. The choices for Valentine's Day price fix was excellent. However, desert wise I wished they'd offer a cheesecake, but that was minor. The restaurant was a little cold, but I attribute that to maybe being on the water at night. It seemed like every time someone came through the front door a cold gust of wind followed them. Lol. Our server was outstanding in the person resetting the tables was very professional. Seem like he had many years in the restaurant industry. Yes I would recommend people coming here for Valentine's Day or for Sunday brunch.
Good food good view
Loved this place for decades will come back often
Excellent restaurant for special occasions like Valentines day. A bit pricey and smaller portions but excellent food and well prepared. Complimentary Champagne on Valentines day which was a nice touch. Service was great as it has been every time I have been there and I have been going here for years for special events.
The best part is the location and the views of the bay and San Francisco skyline. Make sure to be seated in the room that faces the Golden Gate and make reservations for half hour before sunset and you can watch the sun set over the bay and the lights of San Francisco come on, absolutely gorgeous. Can't miss place for a date or to take people from out of town for an iconic sunset view of the bay and SF.
Good food, but the service was a little spotty this time. I had to ask for the bread, which normally comes with the meal. Without the Groupon, the food is a little pricey for what you get (e.g., $15 for one crabcake). However, the parking and view are still good, and we'll come back again. Finally, it'd have a better ambiance if there were more diners and more noise. It's a big place and seems empty, with only one corner for the customers.
Wonderful food and great views. This was our 2nd time coming here. Will definitely return to dine in.
My last visit was not a pleasant experience. Perhaps this was an anomaly but the Prime Rib I ordered was undercooked, returned it to the kitchen twice and the chef could not get it to well done. This set the tone for the evening. The side dishes of Scalloped Potatoes were dry and lacked seasoning and flavor. The Salmon was dry and lacked flavor. Breading on the Sole was under-cooked and soggy. Lighting was out in places, requested to be reseated. Hopefully this was not a new normal for one of my favoriate bay area restaurants and truly was an anomaly.
We didn't get seated for our 6:30 reservation till 7:00 (though in fairness to them, part of that was so we could get a window table). Meanwhile, the bar was understaffed (because it had to deal with a big party in a special events room) so drinks were slow while we waited. The waiting area and bathrooms were dingy. Once we were seated, the food was reasonable (very good shrimp cocktail), if a little pricey, and the view of the San Francisco Bay (from the Port of Oakland to San Francisco) was gorgeous. Fairly good, but next time, we'd go to Skates on the Bay at the Berkeley Marina (equal views, more together service, better waiting ambiance) and reserve earlier in the day (they didn't have space at our time so we went to HS Lordships).
I liked this place, the views of the bay are outstanding. Menu is good, fresh with organic/sustainable options. My only suggestion is to tone down the lights at night, they are too bright, by having softer lighting, it would help appreciate the gorgeous night views of the San Francisco Bay.
