Great view, quiet environment, great service, beautiful, absolutely gorgeous view, only thing that needs to be improved is they need to take the carpet up and put some nice modern hardwood floors, its an older restaurant and could use a few upgrades. Other than that its great, and again the food is on point! If I were fortunate enough to have the money to invest in this place the carpeted floors are the only things I would change.
As usual, food was good and view of the Bay was noteworthy. Inexperienced server took too long to return to our table and take our order and gave incomplete explanation of today's specials (we had to prompt her about the lobster). After that, her service was good.
Very good Sunday Brunch. I would definitely recommend to a friend. Be sure to make a reservation for Sunday Brunch it can get a bit crowded.
We always enjoy our time at HS Lordship. The food is always good and the selection is good.
We love this restaurant. We we had our wedding reception here 25 years ago so naturally, this is our pick every year for our anniversary. The view is AMAZING! Food is terrific no matter what you order. Service is impeccable! The only complaint is the place could use a lot of updating, but everything else makes up for it.
. Whole restaurant so shoddy and old. Needs paint and carpet. Restroom was gross.
Lots of shells in my crab and fruit fly in my tea. Otherwise goos was ok view us great and so was service.
The service was HORRIBLE. It took 25 minutes to get my first glass of mimosa and then 40 more minutes to get a refill after asking for a refill. Everybody else was getting topped off regularly but not us. I was HIGHLY disappointed in this establishment and will not frequent this place again. It really took the SPECIAL out of the reason why we went there in the first place.
Wonderful as usual and i love the head hostess! She's tye best😊
The food was amazing I ordered the seafood Symphony but unfortunately the restaurant allowed me to make a reservation for 8:30 and their kitchen closed at 9 from the time we arrive to the time we left all we heard was that the kitchen was closing the kitchen was closing and that they were doing us a favor when they allowed us to make the reservation at 8:30 and I verified time and time again that 8:30 was okay they should have informed me that the kitchen hours were until 9 that way so when the party arrived for a birthday dinner we would have gotten there may be a couple hours earlier the service was lackluster for it to say the least we went very long. Of time without even seeing a waiter and he took one drink order disappeared for 10 minutes came back to one more and I had to stop him and let him know like hey we want to order more drinks if that's okay then lastly right before we left they had some big commotion about not wanting to split our checks and it took 2 hours for them to finally just go ahead and split it cuz we were there for a birthday celebration.
The brunch was very nice and the staff were very attentive. The property itself is in very poor condition and in need of a major update. I would love to return after renovations have been made.
We had a wonderful time the food was great, ambiance was fantastic
The staff was very nice, courteous and professional.
This will be our go to spot
I went there with my wife celebrating our 25th Anniversary. We remembered having our church/administration meetings here and hoped the standard was still in the spirit of excellence. We weren't disappointed. Good was awesome, service was superb and the view of the ocean and the Bay Area was priceless. We look forward to our next visit and hope that it will be sooner than later.
Outstanding in every way. Food, service and views were fantastic!
I absolutely loved our waiter and the food was excellent
It was my wife Birthday
The food was delicious. Casandra our server was excellent! She was super attentive and kind and our made our overall experience a very pleasant one.
Wow I remember this place being much better. We picked this place for my wife's 50th bday party. The evening started off right... got our table with a good view of SF, the Bay Bridge and the GG bridge as requested. Then the service just went downhill from there. The bottle of wine we selected was not available. No big deal, we selected another one. We had the calamari appetizer and the cheese dip. Both were ok. Dinner came and they got just about every one of our orders wrong. The steaks were all not cooked correctly. The mushroom risotto was very salty so we sent it back. They came with another one that was even saltier so we didn't eat it. The waiter did apologize and took it off our bill. My son got the burger which they got right but that was about it. Then we brought our own bday cake. They brought it before we were ready for it and they had already lit the bday candles which were already almost burned down all the way so we had to sing happy bday but some of our guests were in the restroom so they missed it! In the end we made the best of it but we won't be going back.
We had a beautiful time and we enjoyed the food. Thank you for the beautiful view by the window.
HS Lordship has been a family treasure for the elders near and dear to my heart. Though the brunch is not cheap, there are endless options to choose from. An omlet/pasta bar, breakfast, fried chicken, grilled salmon, fresh crab and shrimp as well as a sweet dessert spread. The view of the bay is enchanting and the service is spot on. Sherry (lead staff) will be sure that all your needs are met.
I loved the space, and being seated just over the water the views were great, and the food was AMAZING much get the Salmon.
I come here about once a year and I really like all the variety of food they have for Sunday Brunch. sitting near the water makes up for this run down place.
The restaurant is located at the waterfront of Berkeley. It is an excellent place to watch the beautiful sunset with Golden Gate Bridge in the background. There are usually plenty of parking spaces and open tables. So reservation is not absolutely necessary. The service is excellent. The seafood dishes we ordered were all very good. The prices are reasonable. I highly recommend it for semi-casual dinning.
This place could be a gem. The building really needs a revamp. The food was not very tasty. I had fish and chips and the fish was overcooked. I would not recommend this restaurant.
I've been to HS only for the buffet style (Saturday Brunch) those are great.
This time we came for V-Day. The worst the food was very small portioned, not seasoned at all. The waiter only checked on the table once, we had to keep asking another table's waiter to supply our needs. We were never offered a regular drink just the complementary Champagne however my fiancee doesn't drink. Normally we have no problem paying for high end dining but this was the worst and the pricing made the experience so much worse. I would also recommend the owner put in new carpet and freshen up place it smells really bad when you enter the building. Really disappointing like I said the Buffet Brunch is awesome so for this to be our experience we were/are scarred.
We come here alot for the view. Moderately priced food but never a disappointed. Tack on a breath taking view and you have a instant win for any occasion especially dates, weddings or even a scenic proposal.
This day came on Valentine's day. Had a preselected meal and gave complementary champagne. Food was amazing and the four course meal couldn't be beat.
We haven’t eaten here in many years. While it is still a good restaurant, I will say that I believe it isn’t as nice as it used to be. The decor could use some updating. The food was good but not excellent. Service was ok but not as attentive as I expect from a premium restaurant.
The place it's on a beautiful spot.. However, there is a lot of upgrades that needs to be made.. The carpet it's old red, the tables are old, the chairs are super old.. If they can just spend a little money making it look more appealing it would be nice. The food was only ok, the price was expensive. They had me waiting for 30 mnts even though my reservation was at 815 and there was no to many people there. The staff seem not happy and they were wearing very casual clothing. This place has a lot of potential it's sad to see that they are not making an effort to make the place better.
The restaurant was nice and the ambience was pretty good. The choices for Valentine's Day price fix was excellent. However, desert wise I wished they'd offer a cheesecake, but that was minor. The restaurant was a little cold, but I attribute that to maybe being on the water at night. It seemed like every time someone came through the front door a cold gust of wind followed them. Lol. Our server was outstanding in the person resetting the tables was very professional. Seem like he had many years in the restaurant industry. Yes I would recommend people coming here for Valentine's Day or for Sunday brunch.
Good food good view
Loved this place for decades will come back often
Excellent restaurant for special occasions like Valentines day. A bit pricey and smaller portions but excellent food and well prepared. Complimentary Champagne on Valentines day which was a nice touch. Service was great as it has been every time I have been there and I have been going here for years for special events.
The best part is the location and the views of the bay and San Francisco skyline. Make sure to be seated in the room that faces the Golden Gate and make reservations for half hour before sunset and you can watch the sun set over the bay and the lights of San Francisco come on, absolutely gorgeous. Can't miss place for a date or to take people from out of town for an iconic sunset view of the bay and SF.
Good food, but the service was a little spotty this time. I had to ask for the bread, which normally comes with the meal. Without the Groupon, the food is a little pricey for what you get (e.g., $15 for one crabcake). However, the parking and view are still good, and we'll come back again. Finally, it'd have a better ambiance if there were more diners and more noise. It's a big place and seems empty, with only one corner for the customers.
Wonderful food and great views. This was our 2nd time coming here. Will definitely return to dine in.
My last visit was not a pleasant experience. Perhaps this was an anomaly but the Prime Rib I ordered was undercooked, returned it to the kitchen twice and the chef could not get it to well done. This set the tone for the evening. The side dishes of Scalloped Potatoes were dry and lacked seasoning and flavor. The Salmon was dry and lacked flavor. Breading on the Sole was under-cooked and soggy. Lighting was out in places, requested to be reseated. Hopefully this was not a new normal for one of my favoriate bay area restaurants and truly was an anomaly.
We didn't get seated for our 6:30 reservation till 7:00 (though in fairness to them, part of that was so we could get a window table). Meanwhile, the bar was understaffed (because it had to deal with a big party in a special events room) so drinks were slow while we waited. The waiting area and bathrooms were dingy. Once we were seated, the food was reasonable (very good shrimp cocktail), if a little pricey, and the view of the San Francisco Bay (from the Port of Oakland to San Francisco) was gorgeous. Fairly good, but next time, we'd go to Skates on the Bay at the Berkeley Marina (equal views, more together service, better waiting ambiance) and reserve earlier in the day (they didn't have space at our time so we went to HS Lordships).
I liked this place, the views of the bay are outstanding. Menu is good, fresh with organic/sustainable options. My only suggestion is to tone down the lights at night, they are too bright, by having softer lighting, it would help appreciate the gorgeous night views of the San Francisco Bay.
Not as good as I was hoping. My wife and I went for our birthdays and, unfortunately, we didn't have a great view because the sun had already set. The food was good but not what I expect for the price. The restaurant knew it was our birthdays and when I ordered one dessert they brought two. Each had a lit candle. When the bill arrives I was charged for the dessert I ordered and the only was comped? Not sure why they didn't give them both to us free? Probably won't go back since its a 45 min drive from my house without traffic and there are literally 100's of other restaurants closer.
Beautiful view of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco!!! Nothing better than eating with the ocean right outside. Food was excellent. A bit pricey so definitely a special occasion destination. But the view made everything worth it.
We went for Saturday Brunch and were seated promptly. Our reservation was for 11am which is also when they opened so there was only maybe a 3-5 minute wait after we checked in with the hostess. The restaurant has a great waterfront location with a beautiful view from all the windows. Parking is horrible unless you have placard for disabled parking. It's a free public lot for use by anyone at the marina and is in desperate need of re-paving. Come prepared to hike from your car to the restaurant and beware of potholes and loose gravel. Inside the restaurant is the decor is Very Dated but functional. All that being said let's talk food and service. The Service was AMAZING!!!! Our waiter and his helper (Leo and Mario) were extremely friendly and attentive. We had water and beverages with in minutes of being seated. They always made sure we had everything we needed. The food was Good. We did the brunch buffet and there were a lot of options. The crowd pleaser was the cooked-to-order omelette and pasta station. The only problem I saw was that they only had one chef to man that station. She was having to do the Omelettes, Pasta, Carving Station, and Fresh Waffles all by herself. Kudos to her but there really should have been 2-3 people working that station. The rest of the food was standard brunch fare plus crab legs. It was really good but nothing really wowed. Apparently the Sunday Brunch has a lot more and is better than the Saturday one. The price was about what I expected at around $30 per person. I'd definitely go back again
We loved the location of the restaurant. It has been awhile since I was last here. The service was excellent. The cocktail I ordered was really bad. I requested a cosmopolitan. However, our waiter a very nice man replaced with another type of drink. The food was good, I had the grilled salmon my husband the fish and chips.
The resaurant really needs a renovations. Probably food prices would go up. But I would pay to have a nice atmosphere.
