So sad to see it closed the day after we were there. What an institution it was!
Thank you for the dining experiences over the years! I am sad that His Lordship is closing!
Maybe it's because they were closing forever in 1 more day but the food was terrible. I asked the bartender for a peach bellini and she said she didn't know how to make one.
It was terribly expensive for what we got.
Maybe not. They are closed.
We will certainly miss Hs Lordship. Thank you for all the wonderful years you have given us!
Too bad they are closing their doors for good this weekend.
I am sorry to hear that HsLShip is closing. We had our 30 year reunion there. Back in the day we use to party there
Basically coming to say goodbye to a place we’ve been coming to for over 40 years. Celebrated many family birthdays graduations etc in the past. Sure going to miss coming here!!! 😔
Went there because they are closing. Had a good brunch until most of the workers walked out in protest of no severance given to them. Too bad it would have been a nice day. Hard to say the corporation that owns restaurant couldn’t have given something to those who put in many years. Some had worked there 39years. Could’ve been a tiered help even if the employees knew for weeks that they were loosing their jobs. It was sad.
Really does not matter. Since the restaurant is closing
Based on the food, it must've been great in its heyday. But, it's seems they've let the building and the service go, because they're closing soon.
Have been coming to this restaurant for many years. Hate to see it close.
clam chowder wasnt good, place is very outdated and needs a lot of work. Spent over $100 and was very dissapointed.
The taste of the food was just ok. Not great. Not bad. The bacon was over cooked. The crab legs and shrimp were the best on the buffet. The omelet was good. It was very crowded. The buffet selection was decent. I wasn’t wowed by the experience but it wasn’t horrible either. The ambiance could use some updating and nothing about the food stood out, so I probably wouldn’t go back. Glad I tried it though.
Im so bummed this place is closing! Besides needing a major updating, we love this place and the view.
Was married here 18 years ago so came back w/kids so they can know the venue since they'll be closing its doors. Sadly, understand why, as place has been rundown and no upkeep seems to have been done to maintain it for many many years. Was a bit depressing to see because I still have memories of how it looked long ago. It felt special just walking into the doors back then and now it has that pseudo Shining movie vibe. Will miss the old Hs Lordships.
Very sad to see the restaurant being forced to close.
Good Food, Great View. Too bad they're closing soon because their 50 year lease is up!
Visited for the last time as this historic venue is closing after 50 years serving Berkeley foodies. Enjoyed a trip down memory lane with the best food and views in the Bay Area. Sorry to see this place close down, but renovations of this property would cost millions and Berkeley has now seen fit to turn part of the parking lot into a homeless camping shelter. Maybe Berkeley could renovate the entire area and make it a beautiful location for the camping set with a great place to eat as well?? This was a great place to enjoy for so many years. Sorry it is leaving us.
I have loved this restaurant for many years. I will be so sorry to see it close.
Fathers Day brunch.
Unfortunately this long-time local dining institution will be closing in a couple of weeks. I know of no comparable substitute. : >(
Great brunch buffet.
We have been going to HS Lordship for about 30 years and never had a bad experience and always enjoy the food, the scenery and the great service. We are very sad that this great place has to close because the Berkeley city government has become so greedy to believe that a hotel will be better on that location that a restaurant with the statue of HS LORDSHIP. What a shame!
View was Fantastic Had a corner table on the water! Food was better than I expected.
Would return if it wasn't closing for good.....
Facility outdated, as expected since they're closing, no reason to remodel or update. Cocktails good, food pretty good, except disappointed at cook of prime rib we both ordered. Ordered a medium rare and medium, got well done and medium. I sent back the well done one for a medium rare, and it came back more cooked than medium we originally got. Waiter was not very gracious about the request, so I didn't send back a second time.
DO NOT go to this restaurant for brunch at its last seating...2:15pm...you are rushed and told the buffet closes at 3pm!!! You pay full expensive price for a time limit...not good. We have been going to the restaurant for numerous years but will never go at a last seating.
The food and the service were excellent it truly breaks my heart that this great restaurant will be closing its doors.
Food was delicious as always. Sorry they are closing. I will miss the friendly servers, awesome food, past events. The event planners are awesome. God bless everyone on there future endeavors.
Sad to say, I can see why this place is closing. We had to ask for our drinks a few times. The meat was good, but not great. Dessert was frostbitten. You can feel the slope to the floors. Not good. I'm glad we got the early bird prix fixe menu price.
Awesome experience great food, excellent service, breathtaking views.
We had a party of seven. Service was impeccable! Views of the bay bridge/SF Golden gate were fabulous. Everyone loved what they ate. We had the best waiter ever!
Always love the food and will especially miss the fantantic window views from the restaurant of the bay, Emeryville, SF, and the Golden Gate Bridge.
Family Members and I choose to attend Sunday brunch before his lordships closes permanently. We will miss this special place.
My experience was fantastic. I hadn't been here for a long time and after going again recently, I
was very sorry I hadn't gone more frequently. The food was simply awesome and the servers were friendly and really knew how to take care of us. The only thing I deeply regret, is that this place is closing. I will miss it.
Would recommend to others but since it is permanently closing, kinda defeats any of this.
Beautiful location, but very run down and mediocre food, with good food pricing.
I really wish you all were not closing😞 I love the food and the staff us always great!!!
The food was great but the service was sub-standard. The desserts (sundaes for the children) were served melted and runny. The creme brulee was worthwhile but would have been better had it not been runny after a 30 minute wait for the dessert. The meal overall was delicious and a good value. Water was not refilled promptly. Poor service.
