About this restaurant

  • Innovative
  • Romantic
  • Good for special occasions
This neighborhood restaurant atop Queen Anne is cozy and intimate. As a nod to the restaurant’s literary namesake, Chef David Glass repeatedly impresses by doing so much from this tiny kitchen. The continually changing, Italian-inspired menu focuses on smaller plates and fresh, daily-made pastas, typically enjoyed family style in the warm, wood-clad dining room. Stop by the Queen Anne Farmer's Market before dinner, and you might see Chef Glass gathering ingredients for that night's menu. Have dinner at the bar and sip Prosecco while watching the kitchen create.

We sat at the bar and enjoyed handcrafted cocktails and several different plates. The carpaccio was excellent! Joe, the bartender, was a pleasure to talk to and even made Baileys on the rocks from scratch. I would definitely recommend How To Cook A Wolf.

Great food, not your everyday Italian. The mix of ingredients - some very unique- produced new age Italian classics with a traditional flair. Service was OK but not up to par with the food quality. Unfortunately, like all too many restaurants these days, it is noisy for quiet conversation. Nonetheless we highly recommend and promise to make the 20 mile drive to enjoy 'the Wolf'

This was our 3rd visit and we had another amazing meal. The chef has greeted us each time as we entered and the staff/service have been universally excellent. We typically get 3 small plates and 2 large ones. Makes for a full meal; we had leftovers this time sufficient for lunch the next day. The flavors are wonderful (we did a repeat on the beet salad from a prior visit and they had changed it enough to make it a new experience); ingredients are always top-notch. We keep trying different things each time and finding new things to love. We've tried their pasta each time and have yet to be disappointed. It is hand-made and works with several different toppings. The only minor down-side is that the seating/tables are close, but that's a function of the small space that they utilize.

How to Cook a Wolf was such a fun cozy vibe. The service from the hostess to the server and even the kitchen saying hello as we walked in was inpeccable. They even sent us home with some handmade pasta. Favorite dish: Pork Belly. Favorite drink: Medusa.

I decided to host my birthday dinner at HTCAW. My coworkers mentioned it and gave rave reviews. I was not disappointed. The staff are so genuinely the best. Very kind very genuine. Noah was spectacular! Energetic and honest. Relatable and caring. The food was delicious. Fresh and flavorful. We will be back soon!
