Ruth's Chris Steak House - Memphis
Houston's in Memphis is an upscale eatery serving steak, pasta and seafood. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, and offers a full bar serving specialty cocktails. Established in 1983, the location features exposed wood beams and brick archways that add a touch of elegance to the meal. There's an outdoor patio that features fire pits and a koi pond.
Meals at Houston's can start with appetizers, which include spinach and artichoke dip, house-smoked salmon, chilled jumbo shrimp, sigmature soup and ciabatta cheese toast. The burgers on the menu are ground in-house, and sandwiches like the Gulf Coast style fish sandwich and French dip au jus are always flavorful. The house specialties at Houston's include the Cajun trout, rotisserie chicken, barbecue pork ribs, roasted Prime rib and the USDA Prime filet. Finish the meal with coffee and dessert selections like the five nut brownie and hot fudge sundae.
My son and his prom date has a great experience. They were very impressed!
We had not been to Houston's in years but this time the food was wonderful & there were good choices on the menu. Will definitely re-visit.
The food wasn’t as great as it had been.. But the waitress was great
Houston's is always a favorite date nite restaurant! Food and Service is always excellent! We enjoyed our dinner, and our server! We feasted on Crab Cakes and Shrimp! Fabulous!
Enjoyed the evening. The food was good but wine was a little overpriced.
Delicious food! The staff were very kind and professional. We enjoyed the lighting and appearance of an intimate setting but the music was really loud.
Great food! Exceptional service! Absolutely love this place
This was my and my husband's first experience here after I've seen so many of my friends take their spouses and families. I absolutely loved it and would even go so far as to say it is a new favorite restaurant. It was nice to have a date night with just the two of us, and the servers at Houston's helped to make it very enjoyable. Our waitress was fantastic, the food was phenomenal. My only regret is not saving room for dessert.
We had a wonderful experience. Caitlin went above and beyond to make our table extra special my nieces 21st birthday. Thank you, Caitlin!
I like and enjoy Houston's -- every time.
The service and food are always on point. The staff are kind, friendly and courteous.
A bit pricey, but the service and consistently great food helps make up for most of that issue. Prime rib is not always consistent in texture, but it is usually soft enough and, if we were truly upset, our wait staff person would take care of it promptly. We prefer not.
We have always enjoyed the traditional salad. But lately it has gotten smaller and smaller and many ingredients have been replaced! Leave the salad alone !!!
Houston's is always good for meeting clients for lunch. The service is good without being intrusive, the food is good and the spacing of the tables provides enough privacy for conversations. The noise level is moderate which is both good and bad. There is enough background noise to allow conversations to be private but sometime a little too noisy to allow for quiet conversation. Definitely on my "go-to" list for business lunch.
I enjoyed spending time there for my sister's birthday. Our server, Jade was everything you'd want in a waitstaff, and then some!!!!
I have visited many times in the past. I wanted to celebrate early Valentines with my fiance since he has never been. It was busy, but with reservations we only waited 10 minutes . The food came out timely and was delicious
Always love it here!!! My special occasion favorite spot!!!
Wonderful meal as always!! One of our favorite spots.
Food is always superb at Houston's; I'm never disappointed. Large portions and tasty. I love going to Houston's and glad they take reservations thru Open Table. There's always a crowd!
Houston's has been a favorite for years! My sister came to town and it was a must do lunch spot. We love the salads and impeccable service!
The food was a little off which is unusual for Houstons. The service was amazing as usual.
I believe my server name was ALLIE ! She was great and attentive
Seated right at our reservation time at 7pm.
Food was excellent. And we had a new server - Leanna. She was great! Very knowledgeable and helpful
As always, Houston's food and service are impeccable.
Food and service was excellent as usual. Houstons Never disappoints
Very impressed. 2nd time in 18 days
Being from Canada we try to get to a Houstons/Hillstone restaurant when ever we travel to the USA. Hands down the best ribs ever! We were disappointed that they didn't have the signature grilled artichoke appetizer but the food did not disappoint. Ribs in Memphis - you can't go wrong.
I always enjoy the Prime Rib because it is usually tender and of excellent quality. This time it wasn't as tender and tasty as usual. A small serving of mashed potatoes and a large serving of broccoli were served on the side. The potatoes were OK, but the seasoning of the broccoli was strong and off-putting. The house salad that we began our meal with was nothing special. No bread is served at Houston's. My companion and I both had the same meal and our opinions were the same. For desert, we ordered the brownie and key lime pie. Both were delicious. I will return again for the Prime Rib in hopes that the same excellent quality as in the past will be served.
Patrick Rivers our waiter was amazing! We have had him before and he makes the dining experience very personable.
We recently moved to Memphis from Texas & had never eaten at Houston'a since our town did not have. We were given a gift certificate from our neighbors & are happy to say what a delicious treat our meal was! We will definitely return SOON!
Once we were seated everything was fine. Great server and good food. But I was quite disappointed that we had to wait 25 minutes after our reservation to be seated.
Matthew was the most amazing server. I've sat with him on two occasions and each better than the last. His vibrant energy and passion he delivers offers a relaxed enjoyable evening.
They ran out of black eyed peas on New Year's Day...what is going on at Houston's these days? My friend sent her undercooked tuna salad back twice. We had to beg for a wine cooler to keep our champagne chilled. Service was amateurish at best. Reluctant to return any time soon
Food was good as always. Service was surprisingly below par- a first experience for me. Had to ask a second time for condiments we had ordered and found the side serving for one of our dishes a bit meager. Again surprising. Hope this a one time experience.
It was an overall good experience, I'd definitely return
I have been a customer of Houston's for 30 years and over that period of time the food offered and service given was always 5 star excellent quality. Over the last couple of years both have declined and unfortunately for me I think my New Years Eve dinner there will be my last. Shame on them for allowing their food and service to no longer be in accordance with their prices or ambience.
My prime rib wasn't a good cut, had little flavor and my wife's filet was cooked perfectly but had no flavor. Service was perfect but the food did not merit the price. I don't mind paying for good food but I will not be back here.
Disappointing. The last two times I've been I've noticed the portions are much smaller than they used to be. We all ordered the Crispy Chicken Club Salad. I found only two very small chicken tenders in my salad as did my friends. Not a good value at $16. They've also done the same with the prime rib sandwich. Probably half the meat as it used to be.
It takes so long to get your check and pay. Food used to be SO much better along w/ service. It feels like they forget your table. It's also strange how there is a 45 min wait but so many empty clean and unclean tables open, maybe not enough servers? Every time we go b/c our youngest really likes the chicken fingers, we say we will not come back. Think this past visit is our final one.
