62 years of loyal customers can't be wrong. We are grateful to all of our customers, employees, and critics (...though we may not always agree!). The only way to find out the truth is with a visit. Oft imitated, never duplicated. Thank you in advance.

House of Prime Rib was super crowded and noisy. Meat was just okay (my piece was very chewy, not worth the $). Bartender was very rude

The reason why I'm not satisfied with my last visit like I normally do is because this time my waiter didn't offer us desert and just gave us our bill right away. I came for my birthday and he didn't offer or give me my desert or sing happy birthday. This time I left NOT SATISFIED!

This place is a must if you love Prime Rib Roast Beef Steaks. The place is so busy that you better get a reservation through OpenTable or you will have to wait a long time to get a dinner table! The cocktails and wines are good choices to go with the red meat. And this place is all about the red meat!!! Although the dessert was very good as well if you have enough room for dessert. The included salad to start off was a good "mixed" of greens that gets spinned at your table. The yorkshire pudding was a treat to go with the Prime Rib as well. Kudos to this establishment for an excellent dinner meal that i will remember for a very longtime.

The prime rib was great, as usual. Areas that need to improve: the restaurant is SUPER noisey!!! Had to wait half an hour even though I had made reservation.

Food was excellent. The only complains I have was the waiting time. I made reservation almost two months ago on Open Table but we still have to wait for 30 mins before we got to sit down on our table.

Exceptional service and food. Note related to OpenTable: Visited to celebrate my birthday this year but restaurant failed to take note. I had previously reserved House of Prime Rib for my birthday a few years past and noted in the OpenTable reservation that we were celebrating a birthday no problem. Not sure if the system upgrades are preventing the notes to flow through to the restaurant reservation systems.

Not to miss! There's only a small handful of San Francisco restaurants where you can get the ambiance and charm of old San Francisco. The House of Prime Rib is at the top of the list. We had a wonderful time and can't wait until we have a chance to return.

We arrived early and was surprised by the crowd at the bar. Standing rm only. That wasn’t too pleasant but everything was much better after we were seated. Our server was terrific. The prime rib is terrific. And we had a really good time. Extra kudos to our server, the carver and the gentleman that helped sing Happy Birthday to our table.

Our meal was delicious. The one and only important negative is that our service was rushed. Half of our dining party was still eating salad which was 15 minutes after being seated and our server brought the baked potato out to serve, and was going to serve our main dish. I had to tell her NO we are still having our salad. That being said she waited ten more more minutes before she served the main course.

BEST PRIME RIB "EVER"....I loved that they now have a woman chef carver, she was so ice to talk to...The prime rib is to die for, seriously you really need to try it. Make sure you make reservations at least 6 weeks out, they are that busy. I have to say the cocktails were deelish as well.....Check them out, you won't be disappointed.

I was not really looking forward to this meal. I don't care for Prime Rib in general, but man! I think I might be a convert. The mashed potatoes and brown gravy were perfectly seasoned and delicious and the creamed spinach is out of this world. The wine list is also awesome.
We spent about $150 for two with wine. It was well worth it.

Gotta love the old school ambience. Willie Brown sitting at his table at the end of the bar. The kitschy wallpaper in the booth.
Tasty table side salad, great cut of prime rib, a bit of seconds, a stiff drink and dessert. It’s a splurge, but well worth it.

House of Prime Rib has excellent prime rib, a great house salad, big baked potatoes, and an extensive wine list. But - it’s crowded, noisy, and expensive, and there’s little choice on the menu. We liked the food but overall this restaurant didn’t live up to the hype and we probably wouldn’t go back.
