House of Prime Rib
The food was outstanding . This was place was a dream come true . They serve you the food nice and hot . The prime rib is seasoned to perfection.
It was delicious and service was fantastic
We had a great waiter and the food was excellent. We hope to travel there again soon and will plan on visiting this place again.
Invited out of town guests for dinner. One had been here before and the other had not. We were hesitant about taking the late reservation (8:30 pm), however, the place was still full. We had a very loud group next to us but they were enjoying themselves so we didn't say anything. The food wasn't up to it's standard melt in your mouth deliciousness that we've expect and have always gotten. Not sure if it's because of the later seating time since we normally get the first seating but we were a little disappointed in the meat quality. We will go back later this year but will definitely try to get an earlier reservation.
Food is fantastic as always
Service a tad lacking this trip as it has been stellar before
I haven't been to HOPR in years and was so excited to snag a last minute reso for my visiting parents. Did they love it? YES. My dad not only finished the King cut but got that elusive second slice and kept eyeing our plates. Suffice it to say, this is on his list of favorite meals!
It was our second time at the House of Prime Rib and it didn’t disappoint. We got there at 5 before the restaurant opened but the bar opens earlier. The bar was bustling already and we couldn’t get a seat. So we stood and had drinks and enjoyed the ambiance. Once we were seated, promptly on time, the service was great. The waiter was friendly and very helpful. The carving is fun to watch. The prime rib is amazing as is the creamed spinach. The wine list is excellent. Our friends had never been there and loved it. My husband calls it a beef lover’s utopia.
Always amazing. I recommend House of Prime Rib to everyone.
The Prime rib was great! The baked potatoes were huge! And the creamed spinach was amazing!!!!
Disappointing. House of Prime Rib has a great rep, but we were disappointed. Salad was overdressed and mediocre at best, and our cocktails came AFTER the salad! Prime rib was tender and tasty but also fatty
Always great food and service. It’s a must stop every time I’m in San Francisco.
Our server Sha was awesome - it was my son's birthday and he treated him like a king!
Best steak ever tasted
The girl who served us was supernixe
We loved House of Prime Rib. The food and service were top notch. We knew the dinner came with creamed spinach by My husband was excited that they also offer cream corn.
This is a must for any prime rib lover.
This was I believe our fourth time going to this restaurant. And each and every time I think Anthony Bourdain for his recommendation to this outstanding establishment. The only unfortunate part of the evening was the customers next to us. They appeared more interested in drinking and being on their phones than eating. It was distracting and I felt very bad for our server.
Speaking of which our server was absolutely phenomenal. She held a very good conversation good jokes and was overall a joy. Next time we are in San Francisco we will definitely go again. Thank you for the high quality of product and employees.
Excellent prime rib but not easy to make reservation
Overall very positive experience. The service was great, our server was knowledgeable and engaging. The food was amazing
Bday was wonderful
The food is always outstanding. By far this is the best prime rib I’ve ever had in my life. Plenty to eat and for the quality and everything about the restaurant, it’s worth a little higher price here than you might pay at other restaurants that serve prime rib. I’ve gone two years in a row for my birthday and I hope to keep doing so.
Love the lounge area. Get the creamed spinach!
Overall good but very noisy n congested seatings!
Actually had a very disappointing experience here the most recent time I came. We asked for rare, but the cut we received was beyond well done (no hint of pink, super tough). It was also the wrong cut and the wrong side dish. We pointed out the side and they did bring us the right one, but I wonder if they were looking at the wrong order when they prepared ours?
Might be a total fluke though, because I've been here in past years and always had a really good experience!
Place is great! Prime Ribs are always on point. Never had a disappointment visit. Waiter was great somehow knew it was me and my wife’s anniversary and gave us a complimentary dessert and took a picture of us and had it developed while we were still sitting at dinner. Will always come back!
This is the best meal and experience you will have in your life. The meat was juicy and flavorful. The creamed spinach was off the hook good. Our server, Brandon, was professional, funny and super polite.
Great dinner experience, definitely would recommend and come back.
There are too many tables and it is overcrowded for the size of the restaurant the food is delicious but slightly overpriced be prepared to pay for the meal prettymuch $90 a person.
You do get a lot of food....I have been going there for more than 50 years and it has changed over the years. This place is good for special occasions and we made the reservation 3 months in advance.
Mash potatoes are not the appropriate size, should be more. Bc they’re delicious.
I have been going to the House of Prime Rib since I was a kid - 60 years! I remember Gus greeting us like it was yesterday! I live in Sierra Foothills now and don't get to the City often so it was a special time and met our expectations. We haven't stopped talking about our amazing meal - not only the quality, but portions. The price of meal and drinks were absolutely reasonable. It was the finest and most honest meal we could have asked for. We were 1/2 hour or later being seated as we weren't called in the bar - or server didn't tell us. It worked out fine.
Steven D, our server, could not have been more professional or nicer to us - and my friend is annoying :) nice, but annoying. We haven't stopped talking about it and anxious for a holiday visit.
Quintessential SF dining experience. They do one thing and they do it very well.
Hospitality at its best. I dined alone late on a weekday night. Service was great and the old school experience of having salad made table side and choosing your cut of steak was fantastic.
Creamed spinach is amazing, steak gravy delicious. And the complimentary courtesy slice at the end of the meal was a great touch.
It’s been two days and I’m still thinking about my meal.
We come once a quarter and the food is always delicious
This was my second meal at House of Prime Rib and I am happy to report that the food was even better than the first time around (and I loved it enough the first time to come back in the first place)! It was my birthday dinner and the complimentary desert of sorbet and vanilla bean ice cream with a candle and a song was a lovely touch. English cut is the way to go for me from now on!
Food and service were superb!
The House of Prime Rib is definitely a must go to restaurant when visiting San Francisco. I tell friends, family, co-workers that are going anywhere near the Bay Area to have dinner at the House of Prime Rib. It is a total experience from the moment you walk through the doors. Everyone is very welcoming and cater to all your special requests. An awesome restaurant and dining experience.
HoPR is awesome! Every time we go, it's delicious and a lot of fun. Make some reservations and go. You will have a great and super filling meal.
Whether you're old San Francisco, a recent Bay Area resident or a tourist in search of a good meal, experiencing The House of Prime Rib is a must. The atmosphere is fun, the beef is excellent and the 70 plus year history of the place contributes to an understanding of what San Francisco was a generation ago. The young 'uns will enjoy it, too, though. The wait staff is attentive and plentiful and it's a special treat to see your prime rib carved at your table. There is a lot of movement in the dining room as servers move quickly from one table to the next and the noise level does rise too high to be called quiet. It's not overly distracting though and you can hold a decent conversation at your table or booth. Our beef was a perfect medium rare but the chef will carve your piece however you'd like. My daughter said the au jus sauce was the best she'd ever had. The sides are adequate (mashed or baked potato, creamed spinach or corn). The French bread is just OK, but the corn bread was special. We splurged at ate dessert (at $9.50) and it was also excellent. Highly recommend at least once. Our bill including wine, dessert and coffee was about $215 plus tip.
Amazing! Fabulous service, great food!
Great service and ambiance - accomodated expanding dinner party from the original RSVP.
Prime rib was great thought I think Lawrys is better. But getting a second piece at the end (while not the same cut or size) is pretty sweet
Best prime rib you will ever find. Very well organized seating, helpful staff got us a cab back to hotel, great wine list. Nice traditional club like ambience. The real deal.
I love love love this restaurant!!! My favorite! The Prime Rib was awesome! I go every year on my birthday!
