House Of Prime Rib Cut
a hearty portion of juicy, tender beef.
a generous steaming helping of the all american favorite, served with thick brown gravy.
a superior sized idaho potato served with butter and sour cream, with a sprinkle of chives.
Everything was great.
Our server, Chris, was outstanding, and so was our carving cart chef. Food was excellent, actually better than before the pandemic.
However, the unbelievable overfilling of each room with wall-to-wall tables, tables too small for each party, and the resulting uncomfortably high noise levels, really detracted from our overall experience. I have been going to this restaurant since I was a youngster in the 1970s for special occasions, and while I will remain a customer, the management's prioritization of packing in diner$ over the dining experience of the guests, has definitely dimmed the enjoyment level for me and my family.
Was my sons 30th bday
Great classic meal on a cool autumn night!
We had an amazing time! The food and service was impeccable. You will definitely leave stuffed or with delicious leftovers. I highly recommend coming here when visiting out of town or celebrating a special occasion.
The only draw back was how busy it was. We felt quite crammed and it was loud.
Excellent waitstaff, food, music and food. Prime rib was perfection and I ended up buying a bottle of their salad dressing. Baked potato was huge with all the fixings except bacon bites.
I’ve always loved HOPR and been going there for 20+ years but this time for the first time ever, the waiter rushed us through. As soon as we sat down to the salad making which I was still eating, the wait staff then started clearing plates bc the main meal came and even then, rush rush rush all the way to bill paying. They reached for my plate to box up while I was still eating so I had to rush and munch thru and say “ok fine yeah I’m done”. I felt the need to just order dessert so we can still have a chance to sit and talk more to our adult kids. It was a crazy stressed experience with the water moving everything along so briskly. Maybe it was bc we had a 630pm reservation (the earliest I ever had) and they were trying to turn it over for the next seating. Next time I know to do a later seating so we aren’t rushed through. Very disappointing.
Our server Tom was the best service we have experienced in years. All of the staff from the valet, greeters, host, carver and support staff were warm, friendly and knowledgeable. The food was well priced and excellent.
We had a great evening.
Food was outstanding the service and service support as well. The meal runs like a finely tuned machine . Always excited to have a meal at House of Prime Rib.
We took a party of 7 people, me and husband love this place and we try to go at least every 2 times a month sometimes even 3 times but after the service we got last night for my dad’s birthday I don’t think me paying $440 was worth it the waitress didn’t ask us what we wanted to drink she just jumped into the food. The food was amazing like always but the service was not good at all! We were at the birthday room or surrounded by people that were celebrating their birthday(it was my dad’s birthday) and the waitress were singing for the other tables, well when our waitress brought our food to the table she wasn’t trying to have the other waitress sing for him at that point I was so over this place! But one or two waitress noticed and came back to sing happy luckily the other tables were singing and other people were singing so thankful for them(my dad had a rough year and I expected more because we paid $440 for a bad service) This restaurant was my hubby’s and I favorite place but after last night we won’t be going here! Sorry you lost a good loyal customer
Didn’t see much cleanliness in the restaurant. Women’s restrooms were dirty . Servers are using gloves but he is using the hands ever here with the gloves on . Like using phone , cleaning table etc
What can I say, its the House of Prime Rib and they live up to the name. I have been going here since I was in my teenage years for special occasions or just in need of Beef lol! Great old school feel, great value, cocktails served in shaker's, giant silver zeppelins of prime rib heaven moving around you, true carnivore bliss. They truly do give you an extra helping if you ask, so my move is to get the the King H the 8th cut, medium rare, then get a small serving of the end cut of the beef for a little well done treat.
Do not eat the day you go and you will only feel like the giant meat zeppelin for a few hours after you leave :) By the way, not really a date restaurant, unless your date is well-fed or crazy carnivore, best to go with big eaters, who know what they are getting into!
Great service, our server was very attentive, had a great time.
SF Classic! HOPR is still the best! Even COVID didn’t change their excellent food and the service we received was outstanding! Tiny quibble - bathrooms could use a refresh.
Was it the rain? Very disappointing evening at HoPR. First and most importantly, both me and my guest got sick after eating. The thing that we both consumed are prime rib, salad and sourdough bread. I'm not sure what it was but both of us had bad stomachaches overnight and the day after. We love HoPR but this is really alarming and now we're very hesitant to go back or take friends.
Everything was Wonderful!
very good food and service. Great for special occasion!
House of Prime Rib never disappoints.
Everything from the service to the food was amazing!!!
Amazing to be back it's like it never changed! The staff was amazing, Jose there with the best cuts of meats, you gotta get the king's cut! We even brought our 6 month old and he absolutely loved it and all the staff was so kind to him! Can't wait to come back again
What can I write that probably already hasn't been written by someone else. The PR was cooked to perfection. The salad and baked potato are legit. Busier than heck, but never felt not being taken care of. Can't wait to come back again.
Great as always!
The food is amazing as always. We loved it before the pandemic and still love it now. Value is awesome. It's noisy but I don't mind it. Love this place. There is nowhere else like it.
Best value and service all over will come back many year to
Excellent service, great value for the price, especially in SF!
This is not just a restaurant, it is an experience...Things are done differently here...I love the way they serve the prime rib...and everything is in large amounts...The salad prepared at your table is absolutely delicious. I just love coming here.
TheHouse of Prime Rib is never a disappointment.
Great good. Fun atmosphere. A San Francisco must visit.
The food was amazing, but we felt really rushed. The staff didn't seem happy.
If you want prime rib this is the place to get it.The only negative I can say is that the temp inside was a tad warm. It got better when they opened the doors.
If you love prime-rib or a meat lover and like to have a great cocktail while you are waiting to be seated or during your meal then this is a must place to come and have a great evening!
One of the best restaurant in San Francisco.
Server must have been new or disgruntled. He really was in a rush to get us out of there. Borderline rude. Order was incorrect and very sloppy presentation. Baked potato did not have it's usual appetizing preparation or presentation. The meat was great as usually just a major lack of proper service.
Fast service. We ordered cocktails and a bottle of wine for the table. Both arrived very quickly. The cocktails come with the shaker so you'll end up with 2 drinks. The food also comes quickly you're still drinking your cocktail during dinner. Pro tip: Take your time with the salad and enjoy your drink.
Enjoyed the steak that cooked to my request. We love to come back and enjoy the steak again soon but will definitely make the reservation way ahead.
Amazing birthday celebration
We had a great time celebrating our anniversary at HOPR!
HPR has always been excellent. Something got lost post pandemic. The place seemed over crowded and the large group next to us was so loud we had a hard time conversing. The table seating was jammed...tight at the end in a corner. This was in the library.
The worst part was the waiter who tried to serve the salad before we had even received our cocktails! How sad to feel like we were on a race to eat and leave. He even topped my cocktail (martini) so full I had to bend over to sip to prevent spilling.
I'll be back but it will take awhile. Can't say I'll recommend with the same glowing reports of the past. Things need to settle down.
