House of Prime Rib Ratings and Reviews
The prime rib was very delicious and I like my mashed poTaToes. The gravy of The mash poTaToes had a liTTle biT of The prime rib Juice which I very like. Yorkshire pudding what kind of like a pancake feeling which was quite good. I'm not much of a salad person but there's salad is very quite good. The ambiance was very elegant. Orver all my biz it is restaurant was very gOOd and I give 5 stars. And As well I will recommend to this restAurAnt to my fAmily and friends.
We had the most delicious prime rib dinner with excellent service from the staff and servers! They were most accommodating in seating us before our entire party arrived and we greatly appreciated it as we were able to have some intoxicating drinks while we waited for them! My only caveat is that the noise level is "energetic" and I had great difficulty in having a conversation and hearing even the person next to me. Other than that, it was a wonderful dining experience!
It was like entering a noisy food court, very busy, loud and the food was served as I could imagine you would do if you had to fill a lot of plates really fast, it seemed sloppy and at the same time it it seemed to be the concept of thoughing the gravy or sour cream on the baked potatoes. Even the way the salad was tossed seemed to be an act - it was all a show. The prime rib was tender, but no taste.
Thank goodness we had a reservation! Our wait wasn't long, 30 minutes. Our waiter was awesome. The men waiters were seemingly more pleasant than the female ones. The portions of mashed potates and creamed spinach were noticeably less than the previous year - we had pictures to compare both visits and were offered more yorkshire pudding the year before too. We will return.
The food was outstanding and worth every dime of it. The portions were perfect and prepared and served in front of you. The service was great and friendly. I ordered the House of Prime Rib Cut and it was cooked perfectly. My entire party was still talking about the restaurant on Saturday afternoon. I highly recommend this place and I will be back the next time I am in San Francisco.
We have gone to the House of Prime Rib for 30 or 40 years and this is the first time we have gone away less than pleased. the beef isstill excellent, but the noise and boisterousness were not the quiet classy experience of years past. the waiter pushed us quickly through the meal, presumably under instructions to quickly turn over the table.
I went to The House of Prime Rib with a group of friends celebrating Christmas and the fact that some of our friends were in town and we love going out to eat.
I am going to give this only 3 stars because I made a reservation and they gave us a crappy table for how many people we had. I had a party of 6 people and I felt like it was a glorified 4 top. It was a bit tight for the amount of people we had.
I am also going to say that the other time I went to the House of Prime Rib, we were seated an hour after my reservation time, even though we arrived on time. The restaurant did however comp us some wine.
Our server was also a bit of a nut. Not sure what was going on there. It is worth it to try at least once. The food is awes
House of Prime Rib was as good as I remember it from long ago. I took adult grandchildren so it can become one of their traditions. The only disappointment was the waiter. He exuded boredom with his job and made it quite clear he would rather be doing something else. This is very sad for such an iconic restaurant.
I have been there several times with lots of different people and everything has always been great. This time, I brought my family for dinner and I was very disappointed. It took forever to get our prime rib. They took the Prime Rib cart that was suppose to serve our ribs to us to go serve another room while we waited over 20 minutes. Our table was next to the storage closet for chairs and I was bumped every time that they got a chair which was about 20 times of getting bumped. This was the worst time that I have had at the restaurant.
If you love Prime Rib this is the place to be....the menu basically is what type of cut of prime rib do you want. Each meal is paired with a salad (made table side to a degree), cream of corn or spinach and a bread pudding. Make reservations way in advance as this place gets super busy and you may not get a table. I highly recommend this place.
The tables were very crowded together. The service was only okay. There was not room to eat comfortably. The martinis were big but because filled with ice and with these fancy containers which lids were loose and my drink spilled.
The food was only good. I would prefer to eat at the Burlingame House of Prime Rib. That ambience better because not so jammed pack and noisy.
We went to House of Prime Rib to celebrate my daughter's birthday. We had been anticipating the dinner and had heard all the hype about this restaurant and I was concerned that maybe it wouldn't live up to it. I had nothing to worry about! We were seated shortly after our alloted reservation time. Our waiter was quite friendly and quickly took our drink order...very awesome martinis!!! I wasn't too interested in the sides as I wanted to save my appetite for the prime rib....but the salad was really good, the bread was fresh hot and amazing. Our prime rib was the best I've ever eaten and it was so tastey. The sides were to die for, the mashed potatoes were creamy and delicious and the baked potatoe was gigantic and topped tableside.
One item on the menu... Prime Rib, and they do it right. Not a romantic dinner, VERY LOUD inside the restaurant, and the close proximity to your neighboring guest became distractive when ours sat done with a strong smell of being baked in Mary Jane. Other than that, very friendly staff and excellent food.
Service was excellent and accomodating. The food, as always, was well presented and of excellent quality and flavor and served hot. Atmosphere was noisy but that was expected given there didn't appear to be an empty seat in the house. Appreciated the amount of management involvement/supervision--kept everybody hopping. Loved the decor and warm, holiday, decorations. We had a table in the room with a fireplace and Christmas wreaths and lanterns coupled with the dark wood paneling and lower light level created an image of a previous century in England or the US.Good job, House of Prime Rib.
well when we went it was very crowded .i guess due to the holidays and dinner took quite a while to come, due to large crowds eating . but at least they gave us a sundae to share at the end for free . for making us wait.it was packed. it was my birthday. but i did not tell them .did not want the fanfare.all in all it was nice.
Great for a celebratory night with the guys/girls. Excellent, powerful Martini to start things off. Best prime rib and good wine selection.
I missed the larger bar area though. Not sure if it's permangently closed or just for the holidays. Was a great place to have 1-2 before dining. This is a place where you don't want to be rushed. Was a little more rushed for the holidays.
I was really disappointed in the portions (slices) for the money. My son ordered the city cut and it looked like a thick slice of lunch meat, 1/8". I ordered the king Henry and at most the thickness was 3/8" to 1/2" topps and the extra slices that are offered with the king cut are even thinner than the city cut!!!
My advise is to fillup on bread and salad, the salad by the way was outstanding.
We used to go there frequently about 6 years ago and the portions were defiantly not the same.
Overall the food is still excellent but I must say I left a little disappointed.
