An excellent dining experience!
I've a loyal customer of House of Prime Rib over 20 years. The service was not as good as before recently. Honestly, I was very disappointed with their super rushy service. The manager only said "how are you doing today?" for 3 seconds and I didn't even have time to reply, then he run to other table. I would rather him not to come our table to greet us. They probably don't care about us since there are tons of customers were waiting for their tables.
Consistency is the name of the game here. I’ve been eating here for decades and it is always consistent. The salad recipe needs a little updating but you can always count on a great piece of meat! :)
Great experience! The food was amazing, all 3 of us enjoyed our prime rib. The salad was really tasty with the house vinaigrette. The prime rib was fantastic, almost worth it to get the large cut, only $3 more and substantial difference in size. Baked/mashed potatoes were average, spinach and corn were nice sides.
One gripe, we sat in the corner booth next to the fireplace and out was way too warm, a sauna. I'm not going to take a star away but it was worth it to mention.
Overall a wonderful experience with our out-of-state guest. Thank you!
The food is always amazing! Our server, Ross, was great, checking in and making sure we had plenty of water. We waited a little bit even with the reservation, but it’s worth it! We will return for another get-together!
Always a consistent great experience. If you love prime rib this is the best by far. The prime just melts in your mouth. Service is great and friendly. Always a winner in my book and you can’t go wrong
Went here with a large group to celebrate my husbands 30th birthday! The food was fabulous but you could tell the waitress was very busy with other tables so it was hard to put our drink order in all at once but it worked out in the end, I understnad the business wasnt her fault and she kept up to the demand the best she could. Next time I am going to try and figure out how to book the private room with the TV in it because it seems it would be quieter in their. It was hard to have a conversation across from each other with out yelling but in the end we came there to eat and not talk and the food was fantastic!!!!
I always to go there with my family, the food is always great and services, too. But I don't know why this time, the waiter didn't take photo with us. Maybe, the house doesn't do that any more. I think it's very good idea to take photo, it's OK. We still will go back there again and again. Thanks.
We have always enjoyed this restaurant. But this visit will make us think twice. We enjoyed the food tremendously. But the noise volume was very high than previous visits. We were shouting our conversation. Your restaurant over crowded with additional tables than I can remember. There was so many tables that the carving chef did not row his cart to our table. That is one features that all guest like to remember. Please bring him back to our tables.
You also reduced the number of tables in the waiting area/bar area so you can have additional dinner tables. We arrived earlier to enjoy a cocktail but there was not space therefore, I we had to wait outside your restaurant. This was sad to see.
Best bang for your buck in town!
I was here for my friend bday!! Everything was great!! Our server was fantastic!! Very happy with everything!!
Another amazing meal at HOPR. This place never disappoints. You are coming to this place to be a carnivore of epic proportions. A must is the creamed spinach and mash potatoes with your medium rare cut of your liking. Highly recommended to anyone coming into SF or just craving the best prime rib around.
Great food! Great staff a real San Francisco must do!
Extremely delicious prime rib, cooked to perfection and delivered table side with a flare. They have an extensive wine list and the side dishes are delicious. The service was for and attentive. If you love prime rib, look no further!
While the food was delicious is the service made the experience very special. You just don't get service like that any more and it is a shame. Absolutely the perfect touch on an outstanding meal.
Had newbie waiter. Service was good waiter was awkward and could of been more friendly
I love everything about this restaurant. The ambiance, the service, the food...it's all perfect!
I would of given a 5 for service but our waiter kept forgetting the drinks! We waited awhile!!
Open table was extremely convenient to book a reservations. Book at least a month ahead for a good table time. Easy to get to from the fisherman's wharf. Seated right away. Waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. Wish I would have went for a thinker cut prime rib. It was good but came out medium well not medium. Would I go here again? Probably not, No bad reasons why I wouldn't. I just like to try different places.
The best prime rib experience anywhere!
You have to go there at least once!
It was our 16th wedding anniversary and for a life long Bay Area resident I was surprised I had never had a meal here. WHAT A GREAT FIRST EXPERIENCE! It lived up to all the billing! From the service to the food to the full shaker of martini.... literally everything was perfect.
This place is a classic. But not good for a first date or date at all. The noise level is super loud, you have to shout for your dining partners to hear you. With that said, the food is consistently fantastic. They do one thing and they do it extremely well. The prime rib is the best I have ever had, melt in your mouth good. The accouterments are just as amazing. The mashed potatoes are so creamy topped with the beef gravy I'm craving it as I type this. I would recommend this place and will definitely be back, but for anyone new who's looking for something more intimate be prepared that this place is not it. But if you are looking for good food, cocktails with high energy then this is the place for you.
The restaurant was very noisy and not conducive to conversation. It was very crowded when we were there during the early evening on a Friday. The valet parking was smooth. The cocktails were excellent and in generous portions. The prime rib was very good. The creamed spinach was way too salty. The staff was extremely slow in taking our menu order for our group. At the end of our main course we were not offered a dessert menu or coffee--just abruptly presented with the check indicating it was time for us to pay and leave. The facility is dated and needs a major make-over. The assumption is that people will continue to patronize the restaurant regardless of its shortcomings.
Campy. Cool. Decent cocktails. Food was great. The waiter must have been a valet just filling in or somebody they found off of the street. Dropped food twice, broke a glass, spilled bourbon on me, and was uneducated in any sort of basic skills.
Food wasn't that good!!
Food was perfect and our waiter was amazing
House of Prime Rib doesn't disappoint, great roast and accompaniments to enjoy every time.
Awesome food and service.
Good place for Birthday and special occasion.
Best prime rib you will ever eat. Do not miss out on this opportunity.
Had such an amazing dinner. It was both my fiancé and I's first time here and we wanted to celebrate his birthday and it was so good & the price was great as well.
Great food. Excellent service. Place a bit crowded, therefore, noisy. It’s not a place you can go to on a whim. Reservations are difficult to obtain. My group of 6 waited about two months. We celebrated a February birthday in April. Celebrant said it was worth the wait.
I have been eating at HOPR for over 20 years and the quality of food and service has always been excellent.
Got in and was seated promptly. Food was excellent
Always a great time and meal!
Aaron as our wonderful waiter in the front room!! The food is non stop awesomeness.
We had a wonderful meal here recently. All of the staff were very courteous. Our server, David, was very attentive, friendly, and really made our experience stand out. It's so hard to get a reservation here that we had been waiting for almost two months for our date night. But the atmosphere is so unique and the prime rib so juicy, that it's worth the wait every time. The only negative thing I would comment on is that every time I've been here, the restrooms are pretty dirty. There's only two women's stalls to begin with, and it doesn't seem like anyone checks up on them throughout the night, so when you have a later reservation....it gets a bit icky. I try not to think about it too much but I'm a total germaphobe so it sort of makes me cringe. A San Francisco staple....just try to come at 5pm. :)
Brothers birthday :)
For as long as I have been in SF - which is 31 years - House of Prime Rib has been the place to go for special occasions. Even today the place is packed every day of the week. However, the service has deteriorated so much that it’s almost a torture to dine there now. I took two friends there two nights ago. The young man at the reception (I guess you’d call the maitre d) was rude and obnoxious. Maybe he’s the owner? The service was as minimum as what one would expect from a cafeteria. - You get fed then leave. We were done in less than an hour. The place was so crammed it was no longer enjoyable to eat there. Disappointing!
Delicious as always. Service is great! Very busy but they have a great system to tend to all tables.
Out table was right under an air vent which was blasting very cold air on all of us. Our table was in a walk way and people kept banging and pushing my chair when they were walking by. We were in and out in 1 hour. I felt like we were being pushed out from the moment we sat down.
