House of Prime Rib
Excellent service, always great food
This restaurant was so incredible! First time there and I wanted to take my boyfriend for his birthday! It was such a beautiful restaurant and the while eating experience was beyond any just fancy dinner. I recommend getting there a little early before your reservation as it’s very busy and they took about 20 minutes to seat us even though I made a reservation on here. Ultimately worth the wait and while it was an expensive experience we had, it was worth it!
The place is just phenomenal!
I've eaten at the HofPR off and on for probably thirty years. It's pretty much the same place with a few more tables. Here's why it's a challenge to rate it better than three stars. I ordered a split of sparkling wine, the Henry cut, a dessert, and coffee. No wine and no other drinks. By the time tax and a 20% tip were added the bill was $110. Similarly for the other members of our party. I just believe there are way too many dining options in San Francisco. And I repeat...food was just fine. Service top notch. My only other 'please be advised' comment is it's very difficult to have a conversation without RAISING YOUR VOICE as the restaurant this night was OFF THE HOOK LOUD. Other than that, enjoy it.
All four of us ordered 2 large entrees seared. Yummy. Got extra bones after dinner for our dog. Love this restaurant! Yummy! Great salad too. Asked the server to not add salt to the salad. Perfect!
What can you say about the House of Prime Rib from the service to the Food its such a treat going there its truly the best Prime Rib you will ever have.
Love this place every time.
A San Francisco institution and can not be replicated. I took my friends who were visiting from LA and they were wowed. Keep up the great food, generous portions, high quality and great service!
A great time as always. This is my family's favorite place to eat. With two kids under 7, the kids deal is the best in town. Great service, great drinks and great RIB! Thank you HOPR for staying the same.
Clearly told them we were celebrating 2 birthdays in 2 different occasions in advance. They brought out a sorbet for one person at the end as if only one person was celebrating the birthday. We felt embarrassed to correct our waiter but felt bad to leave the other birthday person behind. Besides that, ordered a rare steak and got a steak with the cap part being well done. My friend’s medium rare was more rare than mine. Service was not very attentive either.
Amazing!! Took a very good friend for their birthday and they loved it! I did too!
Had a great experience, our server was outstanding and the food was excellent. Got seated in the room in the back, which turned out to be a blessing. We were able to have a normal conversation without having to deal with all the noise in the main dining room.
Great as usual. Thank you
We had a great first time there, celebrating our parents' 40th anniversary. The food was delicious, the service was not pretentious, and we were treated so well. It's definitely an indulgence - money- and food-wise - but worth it for our special occasion.
This place was amazing, food was even better than we were expecting. A definite must if in the area, but make sure you jump on making reservations.
Sadly, prime rib/baked potato was overcooked - so disappointing. Service was lackluster. I had to ask for a spoon two times, extra mashed potato for my daughter two times only to be given creamed corn, ordered baked potato but server didn’t even bring me one, salad wasn’t mixed and the list goes on...second consecutive disappointed meal here.
Great overall, except our table was along the path of the restroom. Too many people walking past us while we were trying to enjoy dinner.
Excellent experience!!! Our first time and can't wait to go back.
As always, the dinner was impeccable. Favorite place to meet friends.
Genuinely the best restaurant experience of my life. Can't wait to come back!
Birthday dinner! It was wonderful. I realize they didn’t give us a photo or acknowledge that we booked it as a bday dinner but oh well. Still great.
Absolutely the best prime rib! Make sure to make reservations early. The value can’t be beat. Dinner includes a hot loaf of sour dough, a mixed green salad made right at your table served with an ice cold fork. Ask for the corn bread which is limited. The prime rib melts in your mouth and is even better with the three types of horseradish.. I like the one with the tobacco sauce, but our server forgot to bring it to our table. He also forgot to bring the corn bread. The prime rib is served with creamed spinach which was better than ever, mashed potatoes or a humongous baked potatoe, and the best Yorkshire pudding. And if you like cocktails, the manhattans and martinis come in a shaker!
A place for a special occasion meal. This was our first time here and the service was friendly and accommodating. The meal was excellent; the meats cooked just right. The portions are generous; there was enough left over to take home. Thank you HOPR. We’ll definitely come back for another special meal.
Great for birthday dinner
It was great! They had the table ready for us (although it was very cramped) and we had a full party of 8 and requested a table next to us but they also said it was reserved but their party was only 3 people with an 8 seated table.
What an AMAZING evening. This was a team building celebration for a successful 2019. With 3/4 of the team having this be their 1st time at the House of Prime Rib, they were more than amazed at the fine dining, excellent service, and great atmosphere. We drank, we dined, we celebrated, and we made this night a truly memorable one. Thank you House of Prime Rib!!! You guys never fail.
If you love prime rib, this is one of the best places. They serve the food with flair, an old tradition. Reservations can be needed months ahead of time. Chances of a cancellation are minimal. It used to be more formal, but for the Waite staff it still is. It's very busy, and not very quiet. You'll need to yell your sweet nothings across the table. Parking is on the side streets, or valet. If you can, go at least once. Bring your thick wallet. Enjoy
Service was organized and excellent!
Always an amazing time at HOPR. Staff are always friendly. Thank you Chef Kaitlyn for an amazing birthday dinner.
What a wonderful experience - an old school place with great sides and prime rib!
Another fantastic night out at HoPR. Four of us enjoyed a great bottle of Duckhorn Merlot from Napa along with a bunch of martinis before we decided to eat their succulent prime rib, served so professionally by David. What a great Sunday evening ending with the Monster Chococake!!!
complete and utter awesomeness!
Out f state family that we wanted to experience fine dining.
The king cut portion was smaller than my previous visits. Also, the meat was somewhat tough. I had ordered it medium rare. Regardless, I still enjoy my visit to the restaurant. The value to the price charged is still good.
Food and service was amazing. They are very efficient and very generous here, so come with a big appetite.
We arrived a bit earlier than our reservation in order to get a drink at the bar. The bartender was incredibly rude towards us. Short and repetitive with his conversation. We left and went to the lounge where our cocktail server was very polite and prompt. We weren’t sat until 30 minutes past our reservation which was frustrating since our reservation was already at a later evening time. Thankfully our server was amazing. He was funny and helpful making our first visit enjoyable especially compared to our first encounter. We all had the giant cut of prime rib and with the recommendation of our server, mashed potatoes done backed potato style (with sour cream and bacon! My new favorite way to have a potato)
Overall, it was a great birthday dinner and a fun place to have a special occasion meal.
