I love Hourglass Tavern! I've been back four times now-and I've never been disappointed. My food came out so hot I couldn't even eat it-which is pretty spectacular. I'll be returning in May-no doubt about it!
Just a really enjoyable gem in the heart ofTimes Square! Our server, she was just lovely!
Bad service. The waitress was stressed out and made us feel like we were an inconvenience . Her manner was rude and we were made to sit and wait until she was ready for us to order... by the way she wasn’t busy with her job she was eating. We also sat forever with our empty plates in front of us.. We were seated on the third floor. Small , but cozy.. the food was ok. Entire experience was ruined by the mean, menopausal waitress.such a shame. Will never return.
Although our first time there the staff made us feel as if we were old friends. They were attentive warm and friendly. The food was delicious, plentiful and moderately priced. We will definitely recommend the Hourglass and look forward to our next visit
It was a great find! The ambiance was dark and cozy. Service was impeccable and I really enjoyed th Chicken Alfredo.
Good theater location. Curb appeal not very good. Limited menu but what we did order was good. Nice waiter and good service
We will go back. Two adults and four teenagers. Something on the menu to appeal to every taste. Told them what time our curtain was and they insured that we would be able to make it. The trek up the stairs was pretty tough for me but I would do it over again over again over again. Delightful servers excellent food -go there.
This was an ok experience. We went as a family before a show on Broadway. Food was ok, service was very good. The ambience was not great. We were seated on the main floor where the surroundings were VERY tight.
Great service and very good food in this “sliver” of a spot on restaurant row. Tight quarters at this 3 story eatery, so be prepared to get up close and personal with your neighboring diners. Good news is that the food is good enough that they might share!
AMAZING. 10/10. Nicest people went above and beyond to make sure we were enjoying our meal. A hidden, affordable gem in midtown! Already made a reservation for brunch this weekend
Tiny little place. Homey with very good food, reasonable prices and friendly service. Nice, non-touristy spot in the theater district.
Loved how quaint and cozy it is. The food was fresh and delicious and I had one of the best cocktails I've ever had. Service was great and friendly staff. Loved it!
Second time there and my mom and I got the same dishes as our first visit: shrimp entree and crab cakes. Both were just as delicious as we remembered. Our waitress was so sweet and even put our coats on for us. We love this place!
DESPITE THE SMALL FLOOR PLAN, tables were spaced appropriately, food selection was
good and different (BRUNCH). Food was kind to the palette and filling. Music was a little to loud for comfortable conversation.
Charming little "nook". Food was delicious. Service was great, waitstaff and hostess very attentive.
My husband and I went for brunch before a show. Ryan, our server, was excellent. Our food was very good and plentiful-eggs with short rib hash, salad with chicken. Mimosa was a great price. It was a pleasurable experience
The food was fantastic. We went before our show & they made sure we got out in time. My mushroom ravioli in homemade tomato sauce was outrageous. My uncle’s grilled chicken with mashed potatoes and broccoli was delicious. He said it couldn’t have been better. And lovely waitress, too.
The wait staff was wonderful. All our meals came out nicely prepared and the proper temperature. Two people got the veal chop. One was perfect but the other had grizzle. They offered to prepare something else but we declined. The set up has a cool vibe. We would definitley go back.
Theatre - Mothers & Daughters
Staff was wonderful. Food was good.
Such a wonderful restaurant. The food was amazing, the waiter Daniel was so sweet and accommodating. He made sure my elderly relatives were well taken care of and catered to their every whim. And the Bloody Mary's were Soooo good.
We went for a bite and some wine after seeing Hamilton. The salad was delicious and interesting. The wine was good and reasonably priced.
We only saw the downstairs, sat in a cozy window nook. It was teeny tiny and charming! The waitress was lovely and the food was outstanding! That steak over Greek salad was very very good! Would go back in a heartbeat!
I’ve been to the Hourglass a few times for a pre-theatre dinner and every time it’s been a great experience. The food is exceptional and the prices can’t be beat, especially for Manhattan. Severs are friendly and knowledgeable, with food arriving quickly. I will definitely be back!
Always a good visit. Friend had the special...stuffed trout and he loved it. This was his first visit even though others had mentioned it to him. He'll be back.
Hourglass Tavern is my go to when I can't decide what I want, and I'm never disappointed. This was a special occasion, as my friend and I were celebrating 30 years of friendship. Staff not only was efficient and kind, but went out of the way to make us feel special. Thanks!
Wonderful food and people!!! A wonderful New York Italian dining experience!
We’ve eaten here a few times pre-theater. The food is always good as is the service. It is a little noisy but tolerable. It’s on restaurant row, conveniently close to the theaters. The prices are surprisingly low for Manhattan. Overall, a great value.
My teenage daughter and I were lucky to get a table on the front porch area (only has 2 tables) which was very lovely. You got the vibe this was a date place based on other people dining around us. My daughter enjoyed her steak and I had a pork chop that was a bit overdone. We both liked our sides. Our server was very attentive and friendly as was other staff. Overall, it was a nice meal prior to our Broadway show.
Best restaurant in all of NYC! I would 100% suggest doing the Pre-Fix meal! SO worth the money! GO HERE!!!!
Subtle delicious flavors in my smoked salmon, quinoa and dill entree. Even my children (12 and 15 yrs) enjoyed.
We had a nice meal before going to the Theater. We arrived late due to rainy weather, and sat at the bar for 10 mins waiting for a table. I was worried we were going to be unable to complete the meal, but they were pros at timing everything so we did not feel rushed. Pleasant waitress, nice bar area and friendly bartender. Would go again and hope to spend a more leisurely meal, but would prefer a table on upper floor rather than near the door. Food was good, 3 + stars.
Online menu looked really nice, so booked for dinner before a show. We let waitress know so we could manage our time. She was nice, but overwhelmed. And service was bumpy - ordered prix fixe but entrees came out without getting salads 1st. We pointed this out, so they took back entrees and brought salads, but no dressing. Seemed they kept our entrees on the warmer. Food was ok I guess. Also, very narrow and tight space, and so noisy we could barely hear ourselves talking. Oh well.
This is an excellent spot for a pre-theatre meal. Food was delicious and fast, and our server was incredibly attentive. Note—some of the searing is up a steep flight of stairs, so if anyone has difficulty climbing stairs, please let them know when you make the reservation. We really loved our meal here.
Food pretty good, service excellent... Still one of the best values in the city.
Absolutely zero wait for our 5pm reservation. Food was excellent, flavorful, and satisfying. Attantion and service was great. Desserts (flan and mousse) were really good. House champagne cocktail was excellent. I read reviews about the stairs, if you know the area and you read the restaurant website you know what to expect, no issues here felt like someones home.
Food service good. Location good a bit small where we sat. I’d go back. All ok and pleasant
We visited the Hourglass Tavern for a pre-theatre dinner. While the service was very good, the quality of the food varied. I had the pork chop with spinach. The chop was dry but the spinach was very good. My friend had a pasta and vegetable dish that was just boring. Dessert was nothing special. We did however make it to the theatre in plenty of time.
We travelled from Ireland and had a fantastic time at The Hourglass Tavern. I took my wife and daughter for pre theatre dinner and everything was perfect. Greeted by the gent at the door and looked after by a fantastic lady throughout the meal - I didn’t catch her name but her purple hair and bubbly professional manner left a great impression. Service was attentive but not in the least intrusive and we were never rushed - the 2 hours we spent over dinner flew by. Cocktails, wine and food were tremendous and excellent value. Planning a return visit next year with friends for a triple 50th celebration - can’t wait
Perfect right before Hamilton ❤️
