Servers, appetizers and entrees were very good. Dessert was awful. The blueberry pie looked and tasted like a packaged Hostess fruit pie you got as a kid!
My second time there. Disappointed they didn’t have any specials this time but the food was great ! Priced very reasonably !
This was our first time here and loved it! We will definitely be adding Hourglass Tavern to our usual NYC stops!
Great to go during the week or a Saturday night....do not go on a Sunday night...they are overwhelmed
Cozy, great food, service, ambiance. Pre theater meal.
Great food great value for food. Cool place
wonderful! cute place, delicious food, enjoyable energy
Food was good, but the drinks were quite weak. Had a 5 pm reservation and we were kicked out at 7pm being told they had another reservation . But we had a reservation!!!
I love this restaurant!! It is charming. The food and drinks are great and reasonably priced and everyone that works there is very friendly. I highly recommend it for both brunch and dinner!
I loved this place! Discovered it by chance, and it was a hit with all of my friends! The service was great and the food was delicious as were the drinks. Definitely a place I'll visit again!
Great place and great food. Very comfortable little place.
It was wonderful! We felt so welcome, and the staff was friendly and accommodating..
Great food, great service, and the friendliest staff on Restaurant Row!
Thanks Maria for another dining experience that was absolute perfection!
Been dining at The Hourglass for years.
Food quality and customer service is always outstanding!
Comfort food, great cocktails, and reasonable prices!
You won’t be disappointed!
The food was okay but nothing that I couldn't make for a weeknight dinner. I had the pork chop which was small and somewhat overcooked, bordering on dry. Came with mashed potatoes and green beans. Nothing restaurant worthy. My friend had the bolognese which he thought was great. The service was good and the food arrived hot. Price was reasonable for new york but like they say you get what you pay for.
Excellent meal in a quaint setting! I really enjoyed everything about this place; the food, the ambiance, the service, truly great!
This sweet, tiny, charming restaurant has been one of my go-to spots during all my years living in NYC. The food is always excellent. The staff are wonderful - especially Maria! And the atmosphere is cozy and warm. I love it! I recommend it highly!
Great place for brunch before a show. Great service, great prices and charming stairs. Recommend second or third floor for seating.
Very cute spot for brunch. Not the most comfortable seating, but the ambience is fun. Food was very good. They know how to get you out in time for your Broadway show.
Delightful pre-theatre dinner spot. Haven't been in many years, but thoroughly enjoyed myself and will be glad to return!
Love the Hourglass. Food is consistently good, service friendly and professional. A favorite of ours.
Excellent value - price fixed option was a great deal and we got it with any entree. The lamb chops were outstanding. Best we’ve ever had .
Good pre-theater restaurant: convenient, good food, great value.
Cute - very small but cute. Service was excellent! Good food - great for dinner before a show!
Atmosphere was just right for a fun night in the city. The food was perfectly cooked and everything was orchestrated to get us out of there by 1830. We had a 1700 reservation and Jacob took care of us. He's very conscientious. Since I don't eat multiple courses, I thought it was a better deal than restaurant week at other restaurants and some of them weren't rated as highly.
I love this place! Great food in a quiet restaurant.
Sunday brunch was a delght... nice range of dishes, great service and REALLY GOOD FOOD for a good price. My spinach Eggs Benedict featured perfectly poached eggs on fresh spinach on foccacia, hollandaise on the side. The sides were Shorts Rib Hash... perfectly balanced, not too salty... and a small salad with Vinaigrette just like I enjoyed in Paris. Fresh spice muffins were great and coffee fresh and full-bodied. Entree was a steal at $16. My companions adored the Giambotta ... hearty portion of eggs, sausages and potatoes scrambled together served with a home baked apple bun. All this from a narrow 3 story brownstone on W. 46th St. Enjoyed chatting with the chef from our "Chef's Table" in front of the open kitchen. Recommend and will return.
Always a fabulous experience! Great food, drinks and staff!
One of our go-to's for pre-theater, Hour Glass Tavern consistently delivers a timely meal in a comfortable atmosphere.
Liam took excellent care of us at the Hourglass Tavern. We were there later after a play, and he welcomed us instantly, checked in on us thoughtfully, and was all around just a great server and representative of the restaurant. My friend I had the bourbon sour- excellent!) The food tastes just like homemade (assuming someone is a good cook), the atmosphere is homey, prices are reasonable, portions are generous, and it's quiet enough to have a conversation with your friend. We felt so relaxed and welcomed there. It is a VERY tight area- maybe 7 tables max? I recommend it and will definitely return.
I love this place... it's such a little gem. Great food and such personable service from the entire staff! Very affordable and really good food!
Food is generally good, and I get the "rush you out" shtick. The food was bland this visit, though, and the brunch drinks were lukewarm, not cold, which was off-putting.
A nice dinner but service was a bit slow and there was confusion on the dessert selection on the pre fixe menu. Additional, although requesting on Open Table my preferred seating location and that we were celebrating joint birthdays, we were initially taken to the wrong seating and I had to request again where we wished to sit. Nothing was said or offered about the birthdays, so at that point I just let it go.
I went with family before a show. The service was quick and responsive. Food was savory and portions were just right. Had a nice cocktail and lovely piece of pie for desert. I really like the building and the decoration on the wall. I had the crab cakes which were delish, and my wife went for the steak that she devoured. A very good time.
I made a reservation and bought a gift certificate for my brother in sister in law as a Xmas present. They were treated so nicely by the owner, Beth, and the wait staff, they could not stop raving about this restaurant. The food, service, and the drinks - all superb. And apparently, the bourbon sour is over the top good! In any case, thank you to the Hourglass for making their visit so memorable and I will put it on my place to visit soon!!!
Quaint establishment with great ambiance and atmosphere. Very good food and very attentive wait staff.
Maria is always the best server! The food is good! On certain occasions, it is inconsistent, but generally favorable and reliable. Their prix fixe dinner is worth the price! ANd you will get to the theatre on time!
We enjoyed dinner, cozy atmosphere, great service and a fair value.
This was my fourth visit here and like my first visit I had lefted this restaurant feeling VERY VERY SATISFIED. Bravo!!!!!
This was our second time visiting and we had a great experience both times. Very good food, excellent service and decent prices for the area. We will be back!
Fun place in the theatre district to eat without costing an arm and a leg. Great service and delicious food.
