Surprisingly great food, really good prices. No complaints, will be back.
We had great food and a quiet atmosphere so we could catch up with our friends (group of six). Very enjoyable evening!
Excellent food, everyone was satisfied with their meals. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. The menu has a wide variety too.
We had yet another great experience at Houlihans. Though it was a super busy night, the hostess accommodated my request for additional people in my party. We all had great meals and great service. The nachos, which I hadn't had before, are fabulous.
Great place to eat especially if you're going to the arena for anything. Right across the street can walk over and walk back to your car or event. We make reservations - helps to avoid any wait time.
Great food and service. Went for dinner before the Illini basketball game and we were able to retain our parking space for the game at a reasonable price.
We had a very nice brunch at the Houlihan's in Champaign. The menu had a good range of both breakfast and lunch options. I chose the veg omelette which was very good and accompanied with a nice size cup of fresh berries. The service was excellent. Our reservation was at 11, and the restaurant wasn't crowded so we didn't feel rushed to leave, and had time to sit and talk.
Always, always, always a great experience at Champaign Houlihans. Great food, love the atmosphere. I was there with my family celebrating my birthday.
Always good food. I love their scallops and salads. Nice place to talk.
Went on New Year's Eve and was surprised that they were not very busy. Our server was nice but a little awkward - he may have been new. When I asked for a glass of prosecco - he replied would you like a 6 or 9 oz pour which is not applicable to the sparkling wines as they are served in a flute. Food was good, started with wings and the small spinach dip. The spinach dip had an interesting sweetness to it, not sure I enjoyed that aspect. My guest enjoyed his stuffed chicken entrée. I had the Kansas City Strip which was much thinner than I expected - it looked much more like a boneless ribeye than a strip. Potatoes on both entrées were tasty but extremely dry. Also, I've been in some of the corporate owned Houlihan's and while I know this location is a franchise, I think they really missed the mark on the ambiance - this location could benefit from remodel to attract a younger crowd.
Good Food that is reasonable priced.
Wonderful food and great experience for quiet dinner conversations.
Attentive friendly staff, quiet comfortable atomosphere that feels pleasing with a touch of elegance. Great for a date or just a relaxing evening out. American food with some nice twists that make it not feel like everyday. Our family always enjoys it.
Always great food food and great service from Francisco!
Houlihan's is a go-to spot for family, friends, and business colleagues. Everyone can find something on the menu that appeals to them.
Always a good stop for dinner before a concert.
Our waiter was nice, but was borderline inappropriate. He saw that we were 3 single ladies and took every opportunity to tell us he loved us and that we were hi kind of women. It was a little creepy. Our drinks took forever because "the bar was backed up" and then our food took forever because apparently the kitchen was backed up. We got there at 5:45 and we did not leave until 7:40 and we were late for our concert! I might go back, but not if I am on a schedule.
I brought my "girls night out" group for our monthly night out, one of whom is in a "skooter". All went well, we were comfortable and though the music was a little loud we had a nice evening.
I met a friend for lunch and had a lovely time. The food was delicious. The only thing I would love to see is a few more options of non-spicy foods. Sometimes I just want a little less spice or seasonings/spreads.
I ordered beer battered cod and my wife ordered ribs. It seemed that the ribs were boiled with sauce painted over. The beer batter was thin and soggy and the cod was overcooked and dry. The fries were warm. The calamari was ok. Very disappointing dinner.
It was good except my special order was not properly arranged/served.
The hostess acted as server as big tables slowed down staff. Great job on her part! Noise level is only complaint still
Wine was overpriced, salad was mediocre (kale needs to be cut off of its thick fibrous middle and in pieces I can actually fit into my mouth). The soup was delicious and we really enjoyed the live music on the patio. My daughter's pizza tasted like a cheap microwavable one. Disgusting.
The waiter Richard is the star of the show! Great service in spite of slow delivery made the overall expereince grand.
Food was wonderful but service from our waiter (Douglas) was over the top. He provided the best service from basics to not clearing anyone’s plate before All had finished. He consistently checked on our table and made sure we were happy.
I made this reservation two days in advance for a party of five at 8:30 pm. We arrived at Houlihan’s at 8:20 PM for the dinner reservation and were told by the host that our table had been given away to a walk-in party of 10. The host hastily arranged for two small round tables in the restaurant bar to be pushed together for our party to dine at. It was very noisy in the bar which made it difficult to carry on a dinner conversation. When I complained about the noise and the loss of our reserved table, the host informed me that restaurant policy was that having a reservation does not guarantee a table in the restaurant, only that you will get served somewhere in the restaurant (i.e. the bar in our case). No effort was made to re-seat us in the restaurant, even though it was late in the evening and tables became available while we were waiting for our meal. I disagree strongly with the decision to give our table to another party without reservations, particularly when we were 10 minutes early arriving for our reservation. It was very loud in the bar and the service was poor. This Houlihan’s restaurant ruined what should have been a special evening for us.
Graduation weekend - our reserved table was waiting for us when we arrived. Despite the packed restaurant, we had excellent service from Matt who went way above and beyond to accommodate a specific coffee request. Should we ever be in the area again, this will definitely be a stop on our itinerary.
Terrible. Slow service. An indifferent and arguably incompetent wait person. Mediocre food. Bland (and yet somehow more expensive) salmon. Just terrible.
As a parent of a university student, we've tumbled into a variety of local restaurants - and my daughter and I found Houlihan's consistent with other Houlihan's, yet we enjoyed the new menu and options very very tasty. Sometimes we like to eat hearty, but our most recent stop was before a concert at Krannert and we found enjoyable yummies in a speedy turnaround. Great young waitstaff, and delicious twists on favorites. The windows and the atmosphere make it feel special and modern - we will be back for yet another taste treat. I'd recommend it.
Great Sunday lunch location near campus to meet up with old friends in town for the weekend. Consistently good food and service. Great location in the iHotel across from Argentina University of Illinois State Farm Center and Memorial Stadium.
Fun environment, great service, yummy food (def have the stuffed mushrooms)
Houlihan's is an excellent comfort food restaurant that is located near University of Illinois sports facilities and is connected to one of the nicer hotels in this community. So, It works well before or after certain sports events and as more laid back everyday dining experience. on this occasion, e had small plates. I had pot stickers and their asian chicken lettuce wrap. I alos lke their ahi tuna appetizer. My wife had a small steak withsome goat cheese. We like what we got and the service received.
Great service & Great food.
Nice staff. Brunch menu was limited and the food was below average. Bacon was undercooked and served less than warm.
Excellent food, service, and atmosphere. Obviously a convenient location for out-of-towners attending U of I events, it still serves as a great dining experience for locals who want a place to relax and enjoy themselves without draining the budget. Our first of hopefully many visits, we feel that this is one of the better dining experiences in the area.
The menu changed- but they didn’t physically update the menu. Our waiter was less than present. Left a thing of water, took the order, brought the food and the brought the check. Nothing special.
Overall it was a very good experience. Service wasn't the BEST but definitely not bad. Everyone has their days. I wouldn't not go again just because of that. The food was delicious! Drinks were on the pricier side so I refrained from ordering any that night. It's a good happy medium between a standard everyday chain restaurant and the really expensive fancier restaurants in town. Great for a date night! I would definitely go there again.
We had a very nice dinner - my entree was particularly good - spiralized zucchini pasta in a salad and accompanied by a sausage tomato squash lasagna. Very filling and hard to believe that it was less than 500 calories. Can't wait to go back and have it again!
Scallops were wonderful. The house salad was uninspired--too much cheese, bacon, croutons--not enough interesting greens.
Great meal and service - a wonderful dining experience to kick off Visit Champaign County Restaurant Week!!
