Houlihan's at the Hilton Springfield
In 1972, Houlihan's first opened its doors in Kansas City with a progressive, eclectic menu and energetic bar scene. Ferns hung throughout, artifacts cluttered the walls and tapestries made by San Francisco hippies formed the ceiling. Caviar burgers, roasted duck, foot-long hot dogs and fresh carrot juice were just a few original menu items so ahead for its time. It was hot.
Fast forward to 2002. That's when we had our 'Aha!' moment (as Oprah would say). New leadership, new ideas, new inspiration. We completely re-imagined ourselves, and got back in touch with the consumer. New menus. New plates. New soundtrack. Today, our company is built entirely around what the progressive consumer seeks in a restaurant + bar experience. And we plan to keep it that way
Nice discovery! This is a hidden, under-patronized dining gem! Kelly was our most delightful server; she admitted that it was her first day going "solo" after being trained, however, we told her that she was handling everything like an ol' pro. John, the Manager, visited our table when he learned of our food allergies and personally engaged with the Chef to ensure that our dishes were prepared perfectly. Our party of two enjoyed the House and Caesar Salads; Seared Georges Bank Scallops (6 or 8 pieces) w/Charred Pineapple Brown Rice; Chicken Wings w/Thai Chili Glaze; and, a gigantic Loaded Baked Potato. Each portion was large but not so big it couldn't all be consumed in one setting ... just right! Kelly kept our drinks iced and filled, and, John checked on us a couple of times during our in-house time. The final Dinner Check tally was just over $50, but had tasted like triple that amount. Houlihan's has a nicely appointed bar -- both in physical appointments and in visible stock of libations. The dining area is "woody" but light. And, there appeared to be a patio dining option for warmer days. We highly recommend this spot to those wanting good
Impromptu dinner with family on a Saturday night of a holiday weekend - our intended destination was crowded and the wait was long. With two small children, that was a recipe for disaster. Houlihan's had available time and the family was familiar with the name, as there is one in the Pittsburgh area. The place was nearly empty when we walked in, and our party didn't have high expectations (empty on Saturday when everything else is jam-packed?). However, we were really pleased. Three of seven chose from the specials menu - I had shrimp and grits (they were CAULIFLOWER grits) that was really, really good! Others chose the steak ramen, and were giving it high marks. The burgers were a big hit, and one had the Korean chicken - he chose it grilled and liked it a lot.
This is a typical subpar hotel restaurant. Service was terrible. Food came out cold. The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting.
I was looking for a place for Christmas dinner while on vacation. This one seemed a good choice. The food was fine but the menu was limited for the day (not what was on the website) and then when we ordered, we found out that they were out of some of what we ordered off that limited menu. After making another selection, the food was fine. However, when I asked for more iced tea, I was told it was brewing and then eventually gave up on it as we got the bill and I didn't feel like waiting longer. The staff was quite polite, but I was a little disappointed.
I needed a place for a table for 8 where we could get easy access to the interstate and eat lunch and actually have conversation with everyone (not having to shout). When another restaurant was booked, I took a chance at Houlihans. It was perfect for our group lunch.
Great service and food. We had a party of six that included two vegans. Everyone was happy with the appetizers, dinner, and dessert.
Had a large family group (10) for Thanksgiving and had a casual dinner here. The food was good, our group was easily accommodated, service was attentive and friendly, and everyone enjoyed the evening. The location being not in the mall was great for us, so it wasn't crowded or noisy, and parking was a breeze.
Quality of food had always been excellent. Top choices include Shrooms, Thai Wings, Nachos and Calamari. For a happy hour price, it's always worth the trip. Service is 5 star as well. Even with a busy bar, Dave was always quick to take the orders. He and Muhamad had a good teamwork. We'll definitely be back.
Great food and wonderful service. Love the happy hour options for food and drink too!
There were not many folks in the place, yet service took forever and the food was wrong and not very good.
Not a good experience, one server for all dinning room. Very rude manager, Not recommended
The restaurant has daily specials which are very good.
Houlihan's has been around for-ever in the US and several of us reminisced over the happenings at Houlihan's in our various zip codes. This Houlihan's is a great place for a good, quiet lunch. The food was very, very good and value-priced. There were some challenges with service, but server Marco smoothed things out by the end of our friends' lunch.
The host wasn’t fluent in English, but tried. He was friendly. It was a mediocre experience.. not a go to place for us.
Our server was very friendly.
At our first visit, food was great and service was outstanding. This time the food was still good (though not all of it was still ht when it arrived) but service was glacially slow. In general, a very relaxing place to eat.
Took my wife there for Mother's day. She loved the place. It was cozy and we had a great time. We got great portions of food. It was such my wife and family took home plenty for dinner the next day.
Excellent food, friendly, attentive staff, quiet atmosphere. Great variety of food items on menu.
Service and food were excellent! There was a large group that came in for a buffet but we did not get lost in the crowd. Server was top notch. Will definitely consider Houlihans for a future outing.
We've been coming here for years for Easter Brunch. The food is always good. This year, we didn't see the giant bunny roaming around engaging with the children and we missed that. My 4-year old grandson would have enjoyed that. Not sure if our timing was off or if they decided not to have the bunny this year. I felt a little rushed in that every time a certain waiter walked by the table he wanted to take my plate and I clearly wasn't done with it. That was a little annoying as he must have asked me 10 times (obviously I'm a slow eater) but other than that, it was good.
Very creative menu with many options. Don't miss out on their specialty stuffed mushrooms☆☆☆☆☆ Foodie delight! Excellent service too!
Best kept secret in Springfield!
Now one of our favorite places to eat.
We had a reservation for Christmas Day, and once we arrived, we were told that they were closing. No apologies were given. We have frequented this establishment for many years, and will probably never return. When we stopped in their lobby to quickly find another restaurant, the staff members continued to talk about us like we did something wrong. Very disappointing.
Very good experience, pleased all around. If you are looking for good food, god service and an environment where you can actually have a conversation, this is worth a try.
Filet Mignon was ordered medium rare and served raw. Totally red inside. Since service was slow on this Veterans holiday, (due to not sufficient help), we did not return the steak for reheating as would have taken to long. Food all tasted great otherwise, especially the French Onion Soup.
A surprisingly good place to eat. While the restaurant has no ambiance, we were very happy with the food. The lettuce wraps were to die for, and are really worth going there. Everything was really good.
We showed up with a sizeable 18ppl group and they easily accommodated us. They gave us an entire room to ourselves and served us fairly quickly after the full party arrived. Other than the slight mix-up with not getting the OpenTable reservation, everything worked out just fine.
Good food and great service.
Had a party of 13 and there was plenty of room and the waiter was excellent. Definitely will be returning.
Food wasn't good.. no hostess to seat us so we sat ourselves then waited another 20 mins before anyone acknowledged us at the bar area. My pasta was undercooked and had to send it back. Won't be returning.
I was graciously welcomed and seated, given prompt service, and received caring attention by the waitress. The grilled salmon with green beans and seasoned mashed potatoes was very satisfying. Thank you for a great dining experience.
I had the Seared Scallops over Lemon spinach risotto with arugula!! It was excellent! My husband had the Fish & Chips which he enjoyed!! , dessert was the brownie with ice cream, excellent!!
It took a while for the server to find us on a decidedly un-busy night, but once she did, our orders were taken promptly and accurately.
The food was delicious and I highly recommend the apple pie with vanilla ice cream for dessert.
If it is Hilton, it must be good. I always see the name of the restaurant along the way but never had the chance to have a peek on what it offers. Because it was Valentines day and knowing that making reservations in every formal place is difficult, I have thought that it may be a good idea to go through the web and see what you offer. Good enough, I saw a lot of selections from your menu and I thought that I should go for it. The one thing I like though is the ability to make reservation on line. That gives me an assurance that I can get a sitting at a given time. Lastly, the food servings are huge. My party did not only satisfy our tummies but we also had enough of the left overs to bring home for the next meal.
The restaurant is in the Springfield Hilton. We had the Reconstructed Chicken Pot Pie and it was delicious. The vegetables were fresh, the chicken moist and the sauce was outstanding We've been very satisfied going to Houlihan's.
We went there at 1:00pm on a Sunday and the restaurant was completely empty. We were the only table and we had a reservation. It took 20 minutes to get drinks, 40 minutes to get soup and an hour to get our entrees. Once we got the food, it was delicious but the wait was too long for us to consider it a good experience.
Surprisingly really good. Don't tell too many people because I like not having to wait for a table
The filet was excellent - not quite cooked as ordered, yet still good. The shortribs were fork tender - very good. The house salad disappointed as it was shredded iceberg lettuce and maybe a cherry tomato. The baked potato came fully loaded - no one asked if that was acceptable prior to delivery. I would not have chosen that.
The server was less than stellar. Our table was not maintained in a timely manner nor were we checked upon during the meal. The check was presented, I should say placed hurriedly on the table as the server was passing. Dessert was not offered nor presumed.
I would highly recommend this restaurant. I think it is an overlooked option. We drove 20 miles and it was worth it. The food options, drinks, and service was fantastic. I am not a food critic but my food was delicious I had stuffed mushrooms for my appitizer which were 1/2 price beause it was still happy hour at 6:00pm. This was followed by a dinner of shortribs and my dessert cheesecake. All I can say is I will go back I feel this is an overlooked option in Northern Virginia.
Everything was perfect! The server was very attentive and amazing!
This restaurant is inside the hotel but was amazingly tasty and not expensive. We will go back anytime we are travelling nearby. We enjoyed the mini martini sampler and the Guinness, and the food and service was very good, at reasonable costs. Happy all around. A rare experience.
