Hotel Fiesole - Bella Rossa Ratings and Reviews
Wonderful restaurant especially since we were able to enjoy eating on the terrace which is very lovely!! Service was excellent & friendly. We were there to celebrate my Husbands birthday and this was the perfect place. The food was delicious fresh and had perfect presentation! We will definitely return in the future to enjoy this restaurant once again!!
We were at Ursinus College for Homecoming and wanted to spend dinner with our daughter and friends whose daughter also attends. I read good reviews on Trip Advisor and was able to get a reservation through Open Table. The area where the hotel/restaurant is located is charming. When I called the place to add to our table I was told that Bella Rosa was the casual restaurant on the premises. I had visions of red checked table cloths and pizza. We were pleasantly that my vision was wrong. You walk downstairs into a really cool dining area with bar. The servers were excellent and the food was delicious. I had a seafood Arabiatta risotto that was out of this world. Our whole party really enjoyed our meals. I would highly recommend and can say with 100% certainty that we will be back!!!
Our dinners at Bella Rosa were excellent. From the fresh arugula salad to the very moist, tender chicken stuffed w sausage to grilled Italian steak on a bed of orzo, ingredients were fresh, flavors melded deliciously, and presentations were notable. Service was attentive but not overbearing. We wished we had room for dessert. But now that's a wonderful excuse to return soon!
We have been at the restaurant several times before and enjoyed the food and service. Again this was a special occasion and waiter did not mention it. Only saw waiter to take drink and food order and at the end to give us the check. Never came over to ask if we wanted another drink or if we wanted dessert or coffee. He just asked if everything was fine and if we wanted our check. Will try again, hoping this will not happen again
Menu was varied with enough "foodie" choices to satisfy everyone. My bloody Mary was on target, and so was the martini however the specialty drink our friend ordered was disappointing. Our crab cakes had a beautiful presentation and were flavorful. My mussels were good in a light broth, the crab and corn soup was full flavored and hearty. We are looking forward to a return visit.
My friends & I had a lovely time at the Bella Rossa yesterday afternoon. The food was delicious & the service was excellent. We ate at our leisure & were not rushed to finish. I definitely will recommend the restaurant to other friends & I look forward to dining there again soon.
As usual, the food and service was great! The staff was very attentive. The spring menu had just started and it was so difficult to choose. I had the Italian steak with salsa verde and sweet pepper and zucchini orzo. My wife had the Italian sausage and Provolone stuffed chicken. Both dishes had tons of flavor. We will definitely be back soon!
I have to say I was quite disappointed in the food. Service was good and I like the atmosphere. I had the butternut squash soup (ok) and the broccoli with shrimp fetticini which definitely lacked flavor, quite dull. My friend had the Italian brisket. The waitress warned us it has a layer of fat on it, but geez, it was very fatty. Why wouldn't the fat be trimmed off before serving it?
Have been meaning to try this spot for a while. Service was professional, quick and attentive. Wine list is impressive. Atmosphere is warm and inviting. Great place for cocktails. Food was just ok overall. Salads were composed nicely and quite tasty. My pork tenderloin with brussel sprouts and potato hash was very good. There was a miss-execution on the scallop entree. While the rissoto was done very well, the scallops were so salty they were ineadible. But the server quickly replaced them with a new batch which were done perfectly. But unfortunately the taste buds were still in shock from the first batch. Pass on the complimentary "foccia" bread. Its nothing more than soggy cold sicilian pizza. Nice dessert list. The crem Brule was excellent. Will probably give it another try.
We come here a lot & always have a good meal. Casual & cozy atmosphere. This time I had the surf & turf. Filet was perfect but scallops were way too salty. So was my husbands carrots. I think the chef spilled the salt all over our meal. We ordered bread pudding for desert & it was just ok. It wasn't like pudding at all & more like an apple pie filling. We were very disappointed that the Nutella crepes were taken off menue. They were the best!!! We will come back because this was the first time that we were disappointed.
I love the decor and atmosphere at Bella Rosa, and the service is great. Unfortunately, the food is just 'okay'. I had scallops over risotto, and it was okay, but nothing memorable. I am hoping the chef had an 'off' night, but I'm not sure......we are not sure we would return for dinner, given the prices.
Met 3 friends here for a Secret Santa exchange and to catch up. Our server was an absolute delight - looked a little bit like Ryan Gosling- and handled all of our good natured flirting with him in a very fun and respectful way. Hope he didn't feel sexually harassed, but he was just so darn cute and he could have been any one of our grandsons. Festive atmosphere. Except for the couple at the bar that was trying to make a baby -we chalked that up more to the alcohol than their lack of good manners - it was overall a wonderful venue. The food was reasonably priced and it's preparation and presentation were both on point. We'll definitely be back.
The place is stunningly gorgeous. It was decorated for the holidays and the atmosphere was lovely. The food was under-seasoned and showed poor attention to detail (I had butternut squash soup and the special: crab ravioli in a blush sauce with some very tough monk fish.) The server was very attentive and the bartender made a very good pear martini. I wish the food had been better.
The atmosphere at this restaurant is wonderful and we go back hoping that things will improve.
This last time and the time before one meal came out piping hot and the other was barely warm. My pasta and salmon were very hot but bland and my dining partner's beef brisket was hardly warm. Something in the kitchen is not right for this to keep happening.
Also, we have been tempted to try the tasting menu but when the chef won't entertain even giving an inkling of what he intends to prepare, it is hard to go for this option.
We were looking forward to celebrating our 43rd wedding anniversary with our cousin who also were celebrating their 43rd wedding anniversary. We were not able to book a week night and had to have dinner on Saturday night. As you know, we were given a table right next to the bar.
Everyone was having a good time - it is a noisy room and all of your guests were trying to yell to each other to be heard. Our waiter, Jarrett, had to yell when reciting the evening specials; when we needed to confirm that we had heard certain entrees correctly, Jarrett repeated the entree with good humor. The meal, as expected, was wonderful; our sharing the evening with our cousins was embarrassing as we had told them what a wonderful time we had on previous visits. Guess we learned a lesson. Wen the busboy asked if I was done working on my desert; requested that he the two remaining crepes be boxed for take home. Apparently he couldn't hear me and I discovered that I did not get them when I got home. (Sigh - the one I had eaten was delicious; and I was so looking forward to having a special l desert on Sunday. Noise level is better rated as - Deafening . (Ya gotta love loud Americans)
We had an occasion, previously, to celebrate another couple's wedding party at Bella Rosa, and had a wonderful time; fitting that occasion .
This visit was just the wrong day, in the wrong room - not your fault.
Charming waitress who did everything to make our experience great including suggesting an excellent wine. The meal itself was excellent meal. I had the rabbit lasagna and my husband the duck breast, both of which were specials. Unfortunately, we suspect the person responsible for delivering the meal to our table was tardy because it was not hot. It was so good though we couldn't give it up and didn't want it ruined by overheating.
I made a reservation for dinner and since it was my husband's birthday wanted a booth and not a table which have a tendency to be in middle of a crowded, busy room. We did get a booth and a delicious meal as well. We have never had a meal we did not enjoy and the only negative I can state is the noise volume which can be too high. It is a very good restaurant.
Keep it up. Dolores Bowlan
I cannot review the food because the incredible noise was so off-putting. This was a full (bar) room for Mother's Day, but because it is brick, wood and windows there is no noise absorption. The waiters literally had to shout everything to the people even when leaning in close. I had booked a reservation in the upstairs room after reading that Bella Rossa is a bar, but was later informed that this was the only seating for the night.
This is such a true shame because the building is very unique with numerous well-appointed rooms. This one is fine as a bar, but not fine dining which the cost reflects.
This is my 4th time at this restaurant. Each time the food has been great. The service this time however left much to be desired. Our waitress was slow to the table and very slow to take our orders. Given that we were there on a Sunday afternoon it difficult to believe how long it took for our appetizers then main courses to arrive. Several tables that ordered after us received their meals well before we did.
Enjoyed the food. Need to improve the service.
