Hot Stove Club - MLSE Ratings and Reviews
This was my first visit to the Hot Stove Club. We made reservations for 5:15 pm — plenty of time before the 7 pm Leafs game. We waited almost two hours before we received our main courses and missed the first 2/3rds of the first period and the Leafs’ only goal of the night. I will never return.
First impression was very good, great atmosphere and obviously perfect location if you're catching an event at the Air Canada Center. However the food was underwhelming for the price. In particular the caesar salad and the crab poutine disappointed with their lack of creativity and portion size, for the price. The mains were pretty tasty though. Service was uneventful - took our order, brought our food, took our money. Glad I tried it, probably won't go back.
Calamari appetizer badly overcooked and/or reheated. Twice-baked potatoes were at least thrice-baked and embarrassingly mediocre for a restaurant of this calibre. Excessive mark-ups on wine list, together with lack of low and moderate cost options. In fairness, the steaks were good. Waiter pushed and pushed us to place our orders, since the kitchen gets overwhelmed on game nights. But isn't every night a game night? $400 for dinner for two including tip - nope, no next time for me.
The fact that you can return to your table between intermissions is priceless. The staff is very accommodating. While the price may seem high it is inside the ACC so that is to be expected. Very nice experience and we will certainly be back. Oh and when the GM of the Toronto Maple Leafs stops at your table and shakes your hand, well thats priceless.
I loved this place! I am a raptors season ticket holder and this is a great pre-game spot to enjoy good food before the game. Not the perfect spot for game viewing as there is no court view but there are televisions everywhere and good entertainment .. The decor is really cool and the food is delicious. I had the lobster pasta and to my delight it was al dente ... my mom had the trout and it was fantstic. I would most definitely visit again and am looking forward to my next visit
Overall great pregame dinner. Price is high, but as people report, to be expected. I give the food a 4 star as they missed the mark on the steak this time. They offered to re do it, but I just declined.
Only thing I can say is .... bring back the donuts !!!!
Service and staff were great! Quality of food was less than we expected given it boasts its meat locker and hand cut steaks the quality wasn't to par. It might have been a Hit and Miss but we had to send our meals back for not being cooked as requested. Would give it another try as it could have been an off night in the kitchen.
I was late by 45 minutes for my reservation (Toronto traffic getting ridiculous) and was greeted respectfully by front staff. Sat down right away, attended to quickly ordered food and received it all before puck drop which I thought was incredible...I will come back everytime I have an event at the ACC...
I used to go to the Hot Stove quite often, before most Leaf games that I attended. However, last year, I found it simply took too long-from the time we got to order, to when we got the food, to when I was able to pay and leave. So I switched to E11even (another great place).
Thought I would try the Hot Stove again for the Leafs home opener last week. Noticed a few changes to the menu as well as management of the restaurant.
Service was noticeably better from the moment we sat down. Food, as good as always, arrived much faster-just as it does as at E11even. Noise level is high but it's to be expected given the number of tables in that space.
Was impressed with the changes. Will be back in November.
Surprised my husband with a Leafs game and dinner for his 75th birthday. He was blown away!
The game was the highlight but the Hot Stove Club was a great time and wonderful dinner. When we arrived, my husband was greeted with a "Happy Birthday" by the Hostess and Service Staff. The quality of the food was comparable to other high end restaurants, expensive but worth it! You have the option of coming back to your seats between periods for drinks or dessert, etc. We did the dessert and they provided my husband's at no cost because of his birthday, but we didn't have time to finish it and get back before the period started. We would highly recommend the Hot Stove Club when visiting the Air Canada Centre.
With it's legendary place in Maple Leafs lore, the Hot Stove provides a convenient, and somewhat pricey, place to enjoy a good dinner prior to seeing the Leafs, Raptors, or other event at the Air Canada Centre. The space is somewhat "close", so you'll get to know the folks at the tables next to you. But, the food is very good. But don't be looking for reasonable pricing. As part of the overall ACC environment, you have a premium to pay on your food and beverages. But, it is open to all attending an event - you don't have to be a part of the Air Canada Club or similar. And, it is a quick walk to your seat after dinner. I will go there again for nostalgia and the food, but thank goodness I have an expense account!
We are never disappointed with the meal, the level of service or the ambiance at the Hot Stove Lounge. It is always a first class evening. Kelly and her staff are focused, well-organized and very attentive to all guests. Wait staff have a full understanding of the menu items and the wine list. Highly recommend this dining experience to anyone.
I had a 6 pm reservation for a 7:30 pm puck drop. All guests were on time. Our food did not arrive until moments before the start of the game. We rushed through our meal and missed the first 10 minutes of the hockey game. Most frustrating, especially when the neighbouring table arrived after us and received their food before our table. In exchange for paying a premium for food, service and location at an MLSE restaurant (not to mention the cost of game tickets), I expect MLSE to hold up their end of the bargain and allow me and my clients to get to our seats on time. Very disappointing.
Long lineup to get in...had to wait outside in the cold...should have a separate door
Drinks and Salad served promptly
Steaks were at least 45 minutes and we missed 1 period of hockey
Even the dessert arrived only after 1st intermission
Steak was below expectation...had a funny smell and certainly not worth 50 bucks
Waitress was good and friendly
Ambiance was very so so
When the game started...they actually televised the Edmonton opening anthem...lots of network issues and no sound...bizarre for a sports arena
will never go back
I have been to the Hot Stove Club 4-5 times in the past few years. I have always had great experiences and continue to go back. On this particular visit the service was not what I am used to. I spoke with the Manager, Ms. Kelly Riggs and she took my concern very seriously and addressed it to my satisfaction. It is obvious they pride themselves on a great customer experience. I will continue to go back to this great pre-game gem!
Server was good but service was extremely slow. We arrived over an hour before the Raptors game and the dining room was only about 10 tables. Yet we received our meals in the middle of the 1st quarter and didn't get to our seats until just before the half. This is without appetizers and no desserts! Not sure why it took so long. We will say though, the food was amazing. Between the four of us we had filet mignon, rack of lamb, snapper special and tenderloin tips.
Food and service was very good. Our waiter was very good , helpful with menu and attentive without over doing it. A bit slow for a restaurant that caters to pregame diners. We had a reservation for 6pm and Raptors game started at 730pm. We got to our seats just at the end of the 1st quarter. Was disappointed to have missed beginning as this was our first basketball game in years. The food was vert good but pricey. We both had steak adding potatoes and veg and a bottle of wine our bill for 2 people was over $300! I guess that is why the place was about 1/4 full. If they could speed up service and adjust menu pricing especially wine list which is extensive but starts at $70 (for a bottle that retails for $12) and goes up from there. It was a one time experience. Glad we went but don't need to do it again.
