This was a special occasion! We celebrated my daughter’s graduation from the University of Alabama and we picked exactly the right place to have the celebration. The food was fabulous! Lamb shank cooked perfectly and fell off the bone. The tomato salad was delicious. It really was perfect and we will be back.
We went to Hot & Hot before going to a concert at the BJCC. The service was exceptional. Our waiter was very familiar with the menu and made some wonderful suggestions. The snapper was outstanding! We would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Birmingham!
I made reservations two months in advance and traveled to Birmingham from Tennessee for a nice dinner with my husband, son and daughter-in-law. Very disappointed to be seated in the bar area which was loud and crowed with a very large group.

We went for an anniversary dinner, and it was absolutely wonderful! Everything from the waiter to the food to the ambiance was lovely. Upscale, but not so upscale that you feel out of place in your mid-twenties. Will definitely be back.

My only request for my 62nd birthday was dinner at Hot and Hot... at the Chef’s counter. There were 4 of us and we had the BEST time and the Best dinner. We love Hot and Hot! We go back every chance we get! The Best!!
Excellent experience. Our server was extremely attentive and we had nearly no wait time between courses. Highly recommend if you’re in the Birmingham area!
Incredible food and such a cool physical location!
Really had dropped a notch since the last time we visited. We were somewhat disappointed in the menu. The appetizers were bland, not really any seafood much at all. We split the beet salad and it was so so. My wife had the Snapper over grits. It was the best of the night. Lots of flavor, cooked just right. I chose the grilled grouper and it was just that. A modest piece of grouper that was slightly over cooked with veggies and a purée split pea sauce that was bad, just bad. For dessert, we had the Carrot Cake. It was fine, nothing really great. Sorry but I expect more from a place like this.
Our meals were wonderful . . . great blend of flavors in every dish. The asparagus & crawfish salad was especially divine, as was my main course of crawfish risotto. It would have been impolite to lick the bowl. We had three servers who dipped in and out during our meal, and all three were helpful and charming and with a dash of good humor. It was a fun and delicious dining experience. Even the gentleman valet added to the evening with his efficiency -- and quick wit.

My husband and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary here. The food was outstanding. We loved how we were encouraged to take our time. Can’t wait to go again.
Hot and Hot is one of our favorite restaurants in Birmingham. The food and service are consistently top notch.
Was supposed to be able to use open Table gift card but they didn’t take it then open table tells me it had been cashed by the restaurant
Wonderful dinner and great service!
We were recently married and I brought my husband to Birmingham for a concert over a weekend. I surprised him with a nice dinner out and I left a note with my reservation about being newly married! The staff made our dinner so special! They brought us complimentary champagne to start and walked us through the menu so we were sure to make the right selections! From appetizers to dinner to dessert, this place did not disappoint!! Don was a fantastic waiter and gave us recommendations for our night on the town after dinner! We will be back!

This dinner was delightful. Upon arrival we were met w/charm. Our server was quite knowledgeable, engaged without being pushy. The suggestions made were great and the meal from first glass of drink though to the coffee (Please do yourself a favor and order THE COFFEE!!!) was amazing.
We definitely plan to return and absolutely would suggest to colleagues and friends :)
Being a fan of Haistings cookbook and his tomato salad, I was eager to try out his restaurant while in Birmingham. I was disappointed at a very ho hum experience. There wasn't anything terribly wrong but nothing was exceptional either. We sat at the bar to observe the kitchen. None of the chefs interacted with us or anyone around us, The chairs were so close together that it was difficult to serve us easily or to get in and out of the seats. The fish was perfectly cooked but too salty. The shrimp in the asparagus salad was a little overcooked. The chocolate souffle was excellent.
They called to confirm our reservation and let us move it to a later time. Valet drop off at the front door and walked in to our waiting table. Food and service were outstanding! Only upgrade we would have made since it was our first time, was not getting bar seats overlooking the kitchen. Will definitely be eating there again.
Birthday dinner. Service was a bit “brusque” but efficient enough. While H&H is good, I find them to be overpriced relative to other establishments within the same tier.
Arrived for 5:30 dinner reservation and we were seated immediately. Service was great. Food was amazing! We will be back.

Executive Chef Chris Hastings is an absolutely remarkable individual who possesses an elite and exceptional level of talent. I was fortunate enough to have indulged into a delectable chef's 6 course tasting menu accompanied by wine pairings that rate as one the greatest culinary experiences of my life. Hailing from Charleston, SC, I consider myself rather spoiled by the level of extraordinary restaurants right in my back yard. But I would rate Hot and Hot as formidable competition for any of our top-tier, James Beard award-winning establishments, any day of the week. Thank you Chef Hastings for your warm hospitality, and look forward to the next time our paths cross. If you are traveling to Birmingham, don't walk, don't run, you must SPRINT to this restaurant at all costs. A true gem!
Service was not what it typically is at this venue. However, we were outside so maybe the same service as inside should not be expected... Great food, as always.

Our entire experience was excellent. We enjoyed sitting at the chef’s counter and seeing how they prepared the meals! Our waiter was knowledgeable and prompt. Every bite of our meal was excellent as always!
The food was excellent! The beet plate, quail and waygu beef tartare were so good for appetizers! The lamb shank was fall off the bone tender and delicious. The simple fish was buttery smooth and well seasoned. The chicken fried steak and red snapper were delicious. The chocolate soufflé was on the dry side and not as tasty as expected. Overall, the food was delicious and enjoyable! The restaurant was quite loud with little space for the wait staff to weave between tables.
The food was incredible as well as the wine and scotch...could not have asked for better service!
We were in town from another city and I am really glad that we ate here, it's a thoughtfully creative menu with such beautifully presented dishes. It was super loud (wish there were carpets or something to absorb the noise, the concrete floors just made it louder) and we had to shout to hear each other speak, which was frustrating. Our server was nice but so soft spoken that we really felt bad asking him to repeat what he was saying over and over every time we asked questions about the menu. I think if he had been able to speak above the noise level, I would have given him 5 stars instead of 4. I understand that the restaurant will be located to another place due to the building being torn down, I'll try it again when that happens, hopefully the acoustics will greatly improve.
We were so looking forward to dining at this restaurant. I made reservations over a month in advance.
When we arrived for our 7:30PM reservation, the hostess looked at us and said “Oh. You’re early”. It was 7:28PM. We then had to wait a few minutes( that was fine). We were dressed nicely, polite and quiet. She ushered a group that came in after us into the lovely main dining room. She then escorted us to an area set with tables in a small, dark room next to the bar. My husband asked if we could be seated in the big dining room. The hostess said “Well, you should have asked for that room”. The table we ended up with was wedged between the wall, the bar and the wait service stand.i spent the night with the waiters backside very, very close to me.
The food was good, but portions were very small and prices very high. The whole experience was disappointing. We felt humiliated and embarrassed by our treatment. I would not recommend this restaurant.
A truly flawless dining experience. Our first visit did not disappoint. The service, the food, the cocktails, even the beautiful Earthborn Pottery on which our food was served - it all added up to a special evening. We will return!
Celebrated my husband’s birthday ! Food was delicious, menu creative, service very attentive! Have already shared our wonderful experience with many friends. Can’t wait to visit again!
