The menu was both traditional and creative. Something for everyone. However every dish could have been better. The Pulpo was great but you can taste that it was frozen. There were still little ice crystals as you bit through. Both the Risotto and Carbonara were both too al dente but had nice flavoring. The bread was nondescript as well. The chicken dish was very impressive and the most memorable of the evening.

Excellent authentic carbonara. Scallops appetizer and antipasto plate very good. Finocchio salad delicious. Mark gave attentive, knowledgeable and friendly service.

We have dined here several times and the food is consistently good. Unfortunately, the location seems to be one of those spots that has trouble attracting clients. And, last time we dined we saw an application notice for change of ownership in the window. ): I'm hoping they stay with the current menu and staff and the new owners find a way to attract more business. But, I suspect it will change beyond recognition.

The 5 course New Years Eve dinner prepared by Angelo was simply fabulous! Authentic Venetian style cooking at its finest. the lentil soup with cappone broth was a rare find here in LA and was executed perfectly. The veal osso buco was the best I've had in years. Excellent service in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere made for a memorable evening. The wine list is well appointed and extensive. We enjoyed a delightful Rosso di Montefalco with dinner and welcomed in the New Year with an excellent Bisol prosecco from Valdobiaddine. Having lived in Northern Italy for 8 years and visited almost yearly for the past 30, I've sampled my fair share of Italian cuisine. Give Osteria Piave a try; it's my favorite Italian restaurant in the South Bay!

Food was excellent but service was super slow! Noise level was excessive . Parents and staff ignored a screaming 3 year old next to our table. What are people like this thinking?
Screaming children make dining uncomfortable.

Angelo continues his impeccable tradition of exceptionally delicious and creative Venetian cuisine. New Year's Eve's prix fix menu included remarkable house-smoked ahi, light but flavorful lentil soup, house-made fine pasta with uni and tiny bay scallops, a choice of fish or the best osso bucco ever, and a light-as-air cake bursting with chocolate flavor! Anna's wine recommendations complimented the meal perfectly.

Wine selection is extensive. Food options abundant; however my choice of entree was not available. Jay was an engaging and attentive server, he addressed the entire party with brief description of menu offerings as well as suggested wine pairings with our choices.

Food very good. Scallops great, ravioli and swordfish would’ve benefited with better seasoning.

Ambience not improved by hard interior. Nothing to muffle raucous laughter which made it hard to communicate across a table for two.

We have dined here several times and were always pleased. This time our food was not so great. My husband had the black ink squid pasta dish and he said it was awful. I had a lamb shank and it was just okay not spectacular. I did not partake in the calamari appetizer but they were not thrilled with it. It was just a mediocre dinner and not up to its past reputation.

I was hopin to love this place, but it was just "a-ok". Nothing bad, just nothing great ... except the service - the people and servers were excellent. This was our second time dining there ... and just like the first time, it wasn't bad, just wasn't great or memorable ... no "wow" at all tonight, nor was there the first time. Maybe 3rd time will be the charm ... The service was excellent, we were greeted with a big welcome, given a nice table, and service was just perfect. The ambiance is "ok", decorated nicely, a patio, right on PCH .... I had the "Sunday Night Dinner", a 4 course meal prix fixe. Salad of cucumber and radish ... nice, ok ... pasta, homemade, but they too al dente to a new level of chewy, but ok. The the salmon main was pretty good, with very tasty zucchini on the side, finally a lemon tart was ok as well. My fiancé had an heirloom tomato and cucumber salad that was tasty and lamb chops that were ok as well ... I guess I am saying pretty much everything was ok, nothing bad, but nothing very interesting and memorable. I wanted so bad to love this place, but it deserves lots of love for great and nice and attentive people, maybe if the food was a little more special I would give it a few more kudos for the food.

One of my favorite South Bay restaurants. This time, there were four of us. For antipasto we had the seared veal tenderloin and the frito misto. Both were incredible. The veal is cut crepe thin, as you would carpaccio. Delicious on bread. The frito misto were calamari, shrimp, anchovies and white fish, all slightly battered and fried. Everyone loved that, especially those little anchovies. Even if you don't like anchovies, they are great battered and fried. Later, we ordered the pasticcio, northern Italy version of lasagna. Delicious homemade pasta layered with beef, pork and lamb. The beet and celery root ravioli, we thought may be interesting , but no one liked that. The gnocchi were delicious, soft and fluffy in a tasty ragu.

We opted for this restaurant based on the Yelp reviews. My husband, step-son and I had dinner on a Saturday evening. Intrigued by the promise for traditional Italian cuisine, we were curious whether it would compare to what we'd had throughout Italy so long ago. We were delighted to see a menu that offered choices beyond the repetitive 'Americanized Italian" that we find at most other Italian restaurants.
We were hosted by the chef's wife, who was charming and very helpful in choosing a wine. We enjoyed sharing several appetizers, including smoked halibut, beef carpaccio and an arugula salad. The flavors in each were tasty and robust - not for a faint pallet. Our dinner entrees, inclusive of a cod special, the steak dish, and the scallop risotto, were equally as enjoyable. Portion sizes were perfect (not the oversize portions commonly found elsewhere,) and the combination of flavors/ingredients in each dish was just right.
This restaurant is perfect for those who want well prepared, fine dining quality dishes, dining at a leisurely pace and appreciate the value of the food and ambiance. If you're looking for the standard Italian favorites, in large portions for a bargain price, you might want to look somewhere else.

The food was great. We had lamb and pork chops and both were easily the best I have had. The fritto misto appetizer was expertly fried and had a good variety of seafood. Our waitress Tatiana was expert at timing and making sure we had our wine refilled. One of the great secret Italian places.

Food was sub par for the prices and the kitchen must have been understaffed as took 90 mins from when we sat down until our pasta and risotto was served. Waiter was nice but couldn't do much. The restaurant should have really made an effort to placate customers. Not coming back.

We have come here often for either just the 2 of us, or to bring friends for a fabulous evening. Friday night we were with good friends and we had a fabulous experience. The special branzino was outstanding, as was the soup and antipasto plate that came before. The deserts here are always special. The wine was a perfect match to the meal. Anna was amazing with her hospitality. Don't miss this Italian gem.

Recently went with a friend who also has an interest in food. We ordered the pre fix meal and was not disappointed. The taste was great, the portions generous and the quality of the ingredients was evident. We also ordered a very nice bottle of Brunello di Montalcino per the owners recommendation. It was perfect for the meal. I am looking forward to returning.

We love this restaurant and try to go at least once a month. This is the first time we were able to make the Sunday night pre-fixe dinner. The menu changes every week and is fresh, creative and very satisfying. I also enjoy not having to make any decisions as to what I will order. We always enjoy wine at Hosteria and find we get very good advice.

Absolutely fantastic! I think anyone that didn't enjoy Hostaria doesn't understand the regional differences between northern and southern Italian cuisine. This is not the place for pizza and spaghetti and meatballs. Everything was delicious-especially the smoked carpaccio and the fennel salad with apples. The one thing that wasn't spot-on was the gnocchi. It had an instant mashed potato consistency and wasn't "toothy" enough for my taste. The almond cake was lovely and just the perfect finish to our meal.

The whole experience was elevated by Anna who made sure we were so well taken care of from the moment we walked in to the moment we walked out 2 hours later. We love to take our time and enjoy everything at a very relaxed pace. Don't go if you're into a quick, fast, in a hurry bite to eat. Hostaria is for dining, not just dinner. We will definitely be going back!

So disappointed with our experience at this restaurant. We picked it because of positive reviews and $ moderate prices and it was within walking distance of where we were staying. Well only the walking distance proved to be true. Only one out of our party of six was happy with their main dish. I ordered the Carbonara. My first attempt to take a bite was met with the entire bowl of pasta raising off the dish as one large clump! I asked the waiter to take a look and he said " this is fresh pasta, not the kind of dry pasta you get in a store" . I told him I have travelled all over northern Italy and eaten "fresh" past too many times to count and never had this type of experience. The owner did come over and looked at my plate and said he was going to have them remake the dish. The new dish was properly cooked and tasted as anticipated. The others in the party were equally unimpressed with they pasta dishes as well. Two in the party had wide noodles with calamari that was so spicy that they could not taste the calamari. Our moderately priced restaurant ended up costing over $50 per person for pasta, three beers and two glasses of Cabernet, total. Hopefully for the owner, the staff and chefs just had a bad night. We will not return- there are too many other options in the area.

We are regular patrons of Hostria Piave. Great Northern Italian food in a lovely place. We have eaten here many times and the food and service is always terrific. Angelo greets us with the Italian two-cheek kiss and gives us the same table each time if available. He knows what wine to serve and has not been wrong yet. They have both small and full portions so you can order to your level hunger. You can eat inside or on their patio. We will be back again soon.

The food was good. Our service, however, was not, and we were overcharged on our bill. Our server was just not very good, especially considering the prices. We explained that one of our guests was gluten free, and he had no idea what that meant, even though they advertise Gluten free pasta is available in big letters on the menu. He took our younger kids drink order, they both ordered a coke. About 5 minutes later they asked about their drinks, he said he had one coke coming, they could share. Apparently you only had one coke in the restaurant on a Friday night. Really? Then my daughter ordered the risotto. At that point he told us they were out of several items on the menu (he should have alerted us to this when we sat down). Then we asked if they could just make spaghetti with pesto and chicken for her. He said this was Northern Italian and didn't have pesto. The only other item she wanted was the steak, so I reluctantly let her order it (wasn't thrilled about going from a $20 pasta to $37 steak). Lo and behold, when the steak, which was overcooked, came out, it was served with pesto! Our waters also sat empty most of the night. When our bill came, we were charged $32 for the chicken dish, on the menu it is $27. I noticed this on my way out, but at that point just wanted to leave. I would not recommend this restaurant.
