Excellent food and good service. The location on Burnaby Mountain can’t be beat.
We had an enjoyable evening with good food, pleasant service, interesting view and an atmosphere conducive to quiet conversation.
The food was bland, the service was poor and unprofessional. For the price of the food I would expect the presentation of the dishes to reflect it. The escargot was laid out messily and the main dishes looked like something that came out milestones. My ribeye was cooked well done when I asked for it to be medium. The service was sloppy but the staff were kind. I would not recommend this restaurant let alone rate it more than 2/5 stars. Definitely was not worth $200 for a dinner for two.
I ordered lamb and I asked for it well done when it comes to my table and I take a bite of it it’s bleeding it was cooked properly after that I wasn’t into my food no more
The food was well prepared and the portions were good. Took some thought to decide on one of several appealing choices. Very, very nice to be served in the traditional style with a mature, informed, professional waiter with a busboy. What a surprise, servers that knew who got which plates instead of being asked and we never did learn our waiters' name. No introduction, no family history, thank goodness. Those who had mixed cocktails were very impressed. Fantastic location and view. Prices as expected due to food quality, service excellence and a view that never gets old. Very enjoyable evening. Good value for the money. Thanks to Horizons that made me look good for choosing it.
Gorgeous view, good prices and very good service
Food was quite good as well
It's a neighborhood gem in Burnaby
Restaurant web site dinner menu are not available at the restaurant which is false advertising and misleading. Was told by waiter the special items menu is not available for the month of May. The food quality is ordinary and over-priced. Service is good. I guess you pay for the scenic view.
I hate giving bad reviews but I love this place and it needs to improve. The food taste was tolerable but far from good and presentation was also very poor.
A real shame, this restaurant should be so much better, it has amazing views and offers great space. But the chefs are not talented at all, I know home cooks who are way better. The staff were nice and the ambiance was good... the food just didn’t reflect this or the prices.
This is a great restaurant. The food is very high quality and so is the service. They do go out of their way to please their customers. Every time I have gone to this place whether for a special occasion, or just for dining or lunch, or even Sunday Brunch, the experience has always been one to remember with pleasant thoughts. I highly recommend this place. It is a bit expensive but then again, you do get the high quality you pay for. Worth it!!
The food and service at this venue has always been excellent. The sunshine and clear skies made for spectacular views and this was a bonus. A small confusion about the billing of a menu item was cleared up quickly and with good humour.
Our experience was amazing the view the food and service were all great better than expected would defiantly make it our regular dine out spot over the keg from now on. Easy to make reservation and super accommodating for special occasions.
We quite enjoyed our appetizer to dessert but the waitress or water delivery came a bit too often. Conversation was cut short on more than one occasion and if it wasn't this we felt some what rushed to have dinner and dessert immediately following each other. My suggestion would be to watch the engaged table conversation of guests and keep the interruptionsto minimal so that guests can enjoy the evening!
Overall, it was okay. Service was okay, food was decent but nothing overly exciting. Complete lack of vegetarian options. Would go again for the view but don’t expect much in terms of food or service.
Way too pricey for what you get. The only thing this restaurant has going for it is the view.
The view of the Burrard Inlet and the city was spectacular! I really enjoyed the appetizer while looking out the window enjoying the scenery.
Food was bland, service was quick, and the view was nice. Meal was not worth its price.
Meal and service was good. Bea was a friendly server. I felt wine list was over priced. Don't like paying tip % on taxes.
Food was super bland. Server was sarcastic and a bit rude.
Would not go back again for dinner. We were not enjoying so opted not to have coffee etc after our meal.
Great service by “Adam” on this occasion. But we’ve also had great service from “Habib” on many other occasions as well. The fresh Halibut was wonderful. My wife loved the Short-ribs and the ladies loved the deserts. Well done Horizon staff. Great culinary skills and presentation. Darrell & Janice FRICK
Service was great. View is amazing, but food was really over-priced.
It was a surprise for my friends Birthday and the view was amazing, the food was delicious and the service was fantastic.
A tired looking restaurant with cheap cutlery and this is meant to be fine dining? The menu looked appealing enough. The waiter was unkempt with his top button open, his tie askew and din't understand the issue with the canteen style cutlery. The carpet is thread bare and really, this was below par so we wake out without eating. To his credit the waiter asked if we wanted to discuss our opinion with his manager. We didn't - he got the message.
It was a fantastic experience for our first visit to Horizons. We will definitely be back!
Delightful. We wish we could go more often!
Another birthday brunch, another great meal with excellent service. Bennys, traditional breakfast, seafood crepes and the new dish was Huevos Estofados - a spicy tomato-based dish (not hot, more fragrant) of vegetables, chorizo and baked eggs. Well done!
We spent a very pleasant evening, the ambiance was tops, scenery excellent, and service as good as it should be. The waiter was so friendly it made us feel really at home. Our meals were really tasty and called for us to revisit again in the future.
We had an excellent waiter. The girls at the desk were great as well. The view was outstanding of course and we were lucky to get a window table, but the experience was uncomfortable for us as it was too cold in the room. My husband had to wear his outdoor jacket to eat, he's never done that before except for outdoor dining. The meal was good, generous servings and the filet mignon was cooked to our liking, I didn't care for the Demi sauce to be put on the prawns as well as the steak, you do this for steak Oscar with hollandaise sauce but not with a Demi glaze at least I don't care for prawns with Demi glaze.
Over all we had a lovely anniversary dinner, just wished it was warmer. I guess we should have told the waiter, but I didn't think he could do anything about it.
I have come to this restaurant since it first opened, under different names ,as I grew up just below the mountain. I enjoy coming for special occasions but we noticed it was more casual now so we may come again for casual dining.
Outstanding view, service and even better food!
The steaks we ordered were way under expectation. The New York Striploin is overcooked for medium. The Filet Mignon is just not tasting like it's supposed to be, the texture seems not fresh enough, tasted like liver, very weird and the Black Tiger Prawns are tough. Because it is a birthday celebration, we didn't complain much, just thought we would never come back. When the waiter asked how it was . we just said the striploin is not good but not mentioned the filet. He offered my friend to have a new steak but we just said no need. When the main course was finished, the waiter offered us a free dessert to compensate the steak and the raspberry cake tasted really good. So it's sweet and pain for this restaurant. The service is very satisfactory but the most expensive dishes are not worth the money.
This is our place for celebrating special occasions. Our lunch today was top quality - two flat iron steaks and eggs with the BEST chimichurri, the crepes full of seafood and Eggs Benny with lovely Hollandaise sauce. We have found our new brunch cocktail - hello Mangalore! Service is consistently good. Thanks!
Food is over priced for the quantity that you get on your plate.
The Wild Salmon with Risotto is fabulous. Excellent service too. Amazing views all around. Quiet place where you can actually talk to one another and hear the conversation. ❤️
Very good place. Food is comfortable. Not heavy on the stomach.
Good atmosphere and food. I wish there was more selections and the Cesar salad was super under dressed. Service was extremely slow and we were often left wondering if we were forgotten about. There’s other places with a nice view good food and better service. If you’ve never been then check it out but it’s a been there done that kind of place
We love the food here but our dinner was ruined by some very inconsiderate guests who decided to allow their 2 year old to scream constantly. When we asked to be moved because obviously management wasn't going to intervene, they moved us close to the entrance seated under a bright light which ruined the whole ambiance of our nicer window table. The table with the 2 year old proceeded to walk him over to the lounge area right next to us where he continued to scream again. On a Saturday night with a 7:30 reservation, I didn't expect to have this issue. Other couples were also annoyed and quickly paid their bills and left. I have raised 3 children and would never have allowed any of them to carry on and disrupt other guests but mostly I blame Horizons for their lack of ownership. They allowed one table to ruin the evening for several patrons. Disappointing!
The restaurant was lovely but unfortunately the vegetables were undercook. That was not expected in this level of restaurant. We have higher expectations.
Excellent view, great service. Expect to pay ~60$ per person for an entree and dessert not including drinks.
Both food & service needs improvement. However the cleanliness is amazing.
Reserved a table on Valentine's Day.
We had their calamari, salmon on risotto, lobster bisque and creme brulee.
Easy parking and beautiful view.
Hard to top this date night.
I could not fault one thing.
Horizon's Restaurant still had bookings available for dinner a week before Valentine's. I had been before and found it good... but this time, nearly ten years later... The food was AMAZING! The first time I did not have to explain to a chef what a warm blue was... and it was the best steak I have had. My lady really enjoyed the seafood dish she ordered, as well. She is usually a light eater but she polished off the whole meal. The only downfall was it was crowded... we were a little bit close to others that we could hear their conversations and they could most likely hear ours.
