We’ve enjoyed Horizons since it was off 8th Street. Booked this time for our daughter and her prom date , even arranged payment online with our card so they had no bill worries . They were treated well and loved the food and the entire experience! Thanks to you all for helping make it a special night! 😍
Excellent food with a gourmet flair. The servers are very personable and fun. We love this place!
Very quaint but the food was outstanding. I took customers out for dinner and every meal was amazing.
We enjoyed the evening and the ambeance of the restaurant that included live music.
However, we had expected a little more quality of the food. Give it a 7 on a scale of 10.
I was vacationing in Ameilia Island and my friend and I went there for dinner based on a review I saw on-line. The grouper was outstanding authentic southern cooking. I had gone to another restaurant at Fernandina Beach that touted authentic southern cooking and it was high priced and disappointing. Horizons is moderately priced excellent food. The service was amazing very attentive. 10 out of 10!
Good food served hot. Service excellent.
really good food close to omni hotel
dropped in after concourse event
Simply excellent food. Great service. 5 people in my group and we all tried everything and thought everyone's meal was outstanding. Creative pairings, this place clearly has a very special chef. Tip: try the potato wrapped grouper, it's incredible
My wife and I really enjoyed our dinner here. I had the potato crusted grouper and my wife had the wild mushroom ravioli. Both were amazing. Would highly recommend Horizons!
Server did not bring bread that we ordered and brought the wrong side dish. Restroom was dirty.
A little nervous to have gotten a last minute reservation on a Saturday night, but so thankful I did. We had been traveling for a week throughout Florida...Vero Beach, Sanibel, and this was by far the best meal we have had our entire vacation. Quaint and quiet atmosphere and no shock she has been in business over 25 years. You will not go wrong with this choice. The beef tips, and soufle were unbelievable. Didn't catch our waitress' name but she was wonderful and genuine. Can't say enough about all the good!
Since our last visit the atmosphere was 'warmer', lighting better. The beer tap was not functioning so my husband could not get a draft beer. Food was good, and presented well, tasty. Service was friendly and attentive. Liked that the house wine was poured at the table, so you could see what you were getting. Nice size glass of wine!
The food was amazing, although the escargot was a little over cooked. Service was slow as it was Valentines, but that didn’t bother us!
We have been to Horizons several times and had good experiences. This time was different. It was Valentine's Day and they had a special menu. As was expected, the place was very crowded. What we didn't expect is that the kitchen and staff were completely overwhelmed. We each ordered 2 appetizers and an entrée and it took us 2 hours to complete our meal. As for the special menu, it was not special. We paid over twice what we normally pay, for less quality and quantity. It was a disaster. We'll probably go back based on previous experiences, but not anytime soon.
We have eaten there a number of times in the past. This is the first time we have eaten there for a special events, Valentines. The special event menu was a little it pricy, but the food quality, quantity and service was very well done and worth the extra price.
We had a great time and the menu was well worth the Cost.
Came for Valentines dinner. The menu was replaced with “Chefs Menu.” This wasn’t explicitly stated anywhere. I understand it’s Valentines but it wasn’t particularly busy, it was actually quite dead, and the chef isn’t exactly renowned. It was an obvious money grab. The price was $48 per person for 3 courses. The entree was a normal sized entree which I would consider on the small size. If you factor in the most expensive entree on the normal menu is $26 then in leaves $22 for the other options. Which I received 3 small scallops for my starter and a TINY chocolate cake, perhaps the smallest I’ve ever seen. It was almost identical to the cheap molten chocolate cakes you can buy in a grocery store to microwave. Neither options would hold a $11 value on a normal menu. My wife got the scallops and a minuscule salad. The staff were pleasant but the ambiance was lacking, we did come early so hopefully the place perks up. Overall, I feel very disappointed and over charged.
Very good food, excellent service, great local restaurant.
Fabulous. Soufflé the best!
The food and service were outstanding. The menu is primarily fish or shellfish so if you are a beef lover this might not be the place for you.
The service was exceptional as was the food. One of the biggest differences between this and other restaurants on the island are the wine prices. They are extremely reasonable. Would highly recommend
Nice place. Accomadting but was out of soup of day at 7 pm! Also small
Portions. But delicious.
We came to Horizon's during Restaurant week so we had access to 3 different menus & we could not go wrong no matter which menu we selected. The two restaurant week pre-fixe menu options had entrees that were unique from the regular menu so they were special and VERY well prepared. Service was attentive but not hovering. Both food and wine pricing were moderate so the value prop for the diner was very high. We were staying at the Omni & earlier in the day we had a snack & a glass of wine at the restaurant there that we had reservations at for the next night. We got to talking with a supervisory staff person at the restaurant & eventually the conversation rolled around to dining options & I said we were going to Horizon's that night & drew an immediate response that we had made a very good choice & she lauded the Horizon's strengths all of which proved true. So if you are on Amelia Island check out Horizon's you will not be disappointted.
This restaurant tries very hard and mostly it is very good. However, on this last occasion one of the two beef fillet strips was very cold, the butter sauce for the interesting grouper/salmon weave had so much butter it was over powering and they brought a different wine than ordered without informing me because it was a "substitute" for the wine I ordered. When he started to pour the wine I noticed the difference immediately. They serve a very good rosemary-flavored crusty bread, but for some reason served a sweetned butter with it; the sweet butter clashed with the rosemary; they brought plain butter when asked.
Good food excellent service, friendly waitstaff.
We love this restaurant over & over again! It is consistently very very good, well prepared, interesting food. The service is always good. And the prices are a good value for the quality of food you get. We were there with friends for Restaurant Week & the really enjoyed it too.
I would NEVER use OPEN TABLE for a reservation. Open Table told me that there were NO times left for 24-Jan-18 except 11am and 11:15am. Took 11:15am and the place was EMPTY and continued to be empty for the next hour and a half. Open Table probably kept a lot of dining guests away from Horizon's during Restaurant Week. Shame on you!!!!
Wall sconce lighting next to tables too bright and harsh. When we asked if they could be dimmed, we were told the dimmers did not work correctly. Lighting was not very comfortable.
The place is a bit dark, but the service and food were both great!
Chose this restaurant duringAmelia Island Restaurant Week; I thought it would be more formal then one of the more casual restaurant participating in the old section of town. Not the case! 1st had to make reservation at 11:45 which was earlier then I wanted but was the slot available. When we got there there were 3 tables occipied and while there only up to maybe 6 came, so reservation were not needed. Second I ordered the blackened mahi taco; it was not blackened at all. Third the coed restroom had no light! We mentioned but was not fixed so had to have someone stand at door to keep open so could use facilities. I was embarrassed I recommended this restaurant!
Food and service were outstanding! We all enjoyed the meal, wine, and quiet conversation. Would with friends again.
Found Horizon's during Restaurant Week and thought we would give it a try. The food was good, the service was good and the ambiance was good. There no issues at all, just not quite at the next level. We will probably try it again.
Restaurant week menus were very appealing and the food was excellent. The food preparation was a bit slow, but our waiter was terrific.
Ours was one of the very best meals we’ve ever had on Amelia Island. The Pacific blue snapper was amazing and theTopper the soufflé was scrumptious. service was excellent.
Food is always fresh and delicious. Staff is wonderful and they are the most welcoming I have ever met. They always do a great job.
Wonderful experience. Food was very good we tried the Hawaiian snapper. Best I’ve eaten.
Service was tops. Our waitstaff was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient . Excellent value, we will be back.
Excellent food for resort causal with good location, recommend reservations
We had a wonderful experience with great service. The Mahi-mahi and my husband's scallops we're full of flavor and cooked perfectly. Will definitely visit again.
Our waiter, James, did a great job. The dessert soufflé was delicious. Country-fried steak is not the traditional pounded steak with heavy gravy, but was delicious and presented beautifully.
Solid food with a good wine list and great service. The entertainment (Les DeMerle) as also wonderful.
This was a restaurant I liked dining at, and did so every time we were in Amelia Island. This past visit really changed my attitude about this place. The food is fabulous, and this visit started out great. But as I was going through my Seared Tuna i noticed a part of the fish that was perfectly square. My first impression was it was skin and I proceeded to remove it with my fork. As I examined it close up, I realized it was part of the packing that was used in packing the fish. I. Called the waitress over and asked her what it was. She gave me a look and had me place it on the butter plate nd indicated she would have the chef examine it. A few minutes passed and she returned to explain the chef apologized and it was just a piece of skin. I accepted this response and will not return again. I cannot tolerate a lie when it comes to my food preparation. The place was not real busy and the chef should of had time to see this packing material when preparing my meal. I was really disappointed.
