Great service and view for our mom’s 94th birthday!
Horatio's is always a great experience. I really appreciate the fact that I can count on that, it's also my mother's favorite!
Everything was good; however, the server did not pay attention to the payments and charged my credit card for the entire amount and kept cash paid as the tip...which was not the case...
Everything was excellent!!
I made reservations so we got a window seat! Service was very good and the food was even better. We were a group of four. Food ranged from the burger to Salmon to sole stuffed with lobster. It was all delicious. The pre meal bread was very good. We even asked for another plate of it.
A nice steady restaurant. Cuisine is consistent. Email from restaurant was not clear to me about Happy Hour. Only in bar portion and not entire restaurant.
Horatio’s is a staple in the San Leandro community. They have an excellent happy hour menu, with adequate pricing and service to match.
We love Horatio's. We go there every chance we get. This was our first time having Chad as a waiter. We have known him since he was a busier. He was fantastic.
Chairs had crumbs, bits of food on seat. Chunk of food on floor which manager picked up with his fingers and left. Smaller pieces of food were still on carpet. Noticed chairs are left out, away from tables when bussed. Looks untidy...and was! Service was a bit slower than normal initially, but fine after first drinks arrived. Wasn't overly busy at the time. However, our wait person was attentive, and the food was very good. We've been coming here since they opened.
Our evening at Horatio's was delightful as it always is.
My 3rd time there and I have been bringing a friend each time that hasn't been there and each time they love it, will be back
Good lunch, but my wife's prime rib sandwich was not good. The crab/artichoke dip was great and the soups were good. My Poke bowl was different, but tasty. We had the red velvet flour-less torte. It was very dense, but good. Service and view were excellent. The problem was the prime rib sandwich. The meat was tough, cold, and tasted off. The fries were way over salted. Too bad, it could have been a great lunch.
Our waitress was great. And the entree with mahi-mahi had salad and beets and was great.
Went on a Thursday for a later dinner. Sat in the bar area. Maybe the main dining room was busier, but the service was slower than what I’m accustomed to. Our server was very gregarious and multitasking every moment she came by. Definitely a great quality, but I didn’t see enough commotion for us to get our drink order in after we place our food order, and that’s after I had to ask if we could put in a drink order as she whizzed past us. Had the service and ambiance been better, I would have gladly ordered a few more drinks, appetizers and dessert (as I expected to), but I felt we were being rushed out more than being offered a chance to add more to our bill and in return, our server’s tip. Food was good overall. The focaccia was brushed with a pesto olive oil, but a little salty for my taste. My boyfriend ordered the Wellington (reduction was a bit salty, but wonderfully flaky pastry and good overall) & I ordered the stuffed sole, which was definitely prepared well. The tenderloin medallions we ordered for an appetizer seemed like they were under a heat lamp too long, or at least the tenderloin seemed unevenly cooked by the time we ate it (ranging between medium rare and well done). Skates in Berkeley has a similar dish & it’s presentation and taste beats this one by far. It’s my 4th time here and as conveniently located as it is, I wish its product was more consistent so I wouldn’t have to worry if my experience will be hit or miss.
Excellent service. Not a very diverse place to dine. Almost exclusively white. Food was good, albeit a bit rich. Would go again for the lamb.
We were seated at a nice table with a view of the marina. The server, Chad,
is friendly and fun. We were not rushed at all, enjoyed a drink and appetizer before ordering. Great garlic bread comes with the meal. We all had fish entrees, food was great and portions generous. Took home a doggy bag. Plan to return soon.
Had a great time. Made my friend’s bday very special. Bad smell upon entering. Likely problem w bathroom. Food great, though!
Food pretty good, though pricey. Even with reservation, had a twenty minute wait.
Gross. The waiting area/front of house is next to the bathrooms and smells like sewage. Makes for a wonderful start and finish to a gross meal. Went for lunch. Lobster bisque was overly salty and too much cream. I knew from when the bowl was placed, the very light orange color meant it was not going to excite. It didn't. At all. At least it had a few chunks of lobster meat on top. My main was the open-faced crab salad sandwich. I was expecting something similar to shrimp/seafood salad aka chilled crab with a mayo-based dressing. What I got was the warm crab-artichoke dip they serve as an appetizer, slathered on a piece of toast. Also overly salty and way to rich to be a sandwich. My friend ordered the wagyu sirloin cooked medium. It was served already sliced.. I'm guessing they sliced it up to check the temp. It was still served overdone. 2 entrees, 1 soup, 1 app and 2 non-alcoholic drinks ended up being $100. I don't mind paying for good food. This was horrible. Won't be returning.
We enjoyed an excellent brunch. The restaurant was crowded and our server worked really hard but was pleasant , made helpful suggestions, and got all the orders correctly. The food was very good and everyone enjoyed their dish. We chose it for its water view location, but were equally impressed with the food and service. I would definitely recommend it.
Nice place for intimate dinner one-on-one, or with a few close friends. Pretty reliable menu. Prime rib is great. The clam chowder is the best! Beautiful views. Sunset over the bay with the marina in the foreground.
Not amazing. Limited salad/vegetable options. They made my food wrong so I didn’t get to eat with my family. They were nice about it. Although even with a reservation we were as far as possible from the window when it was a pretty quiet time of day. For the price they could do better.
Food quality doesn’t seem as good as in the past. This used to be my go to local restaurant that I enjoyed. The interior is dated and could use some updating and cleaning.
The bathroom/Kitchen area always smells, this and overall cleanliness is my only complaint about the place, ever. Food and Service are always great.
The food is great... there were issues that I spoke with the General Manager about - dirty dishes we had to return twice, dirty glasses...not typical of a nice restaurant. Also, the food is good, but the place needs some upgrading...seats are fraying/cracked at our table. I'd try it again...because the food was great...and the General manager was very responsive in addressing my complaints.
Had a real foul funky smell when we walked in. Sloppy inattentive service the whole meal. Had to send back cold congealed French onion soup.
Sit in Chads section, he is the best! He recommended all our meals and he was 100% on the money! New menu is superb!
I love this restaurant in the pass but feel it’s over priced for the food. Recently I came here with my husband for a valentines date ,Service was excellent but the food was not so great. My husband and I both agreed that we can get better less expensive dinner elsewhere.
LeAnn is our very favorite server. She assures that everything is perfect. For us it’s our favorite. ❤️
They didn't have my reservation so we waited about 20 minutes. The silverware and flatware for the place settings were dirty.
Was looking forward to the Prime Rib but was disappointed. We asked for medium but it came pink (thought it would be gray with some pink inside). It was salty (more than we liked) and it was hard to cut. Years ago we had Prime Rib and it was excellent. We had the filet there a few weeks before and it was excellent.
The place was busy! Service was very good. Food was 'bleh', especially for the price. Ambiance was good overall, but we were seated at a table on the intersection of two major foot traffic corridors which didn't provide a good atmosphere for dinner conversation.
Always a great place to enjoy dining with the family. Awesome deals on appetizers during happy hour.
Hair in food
Burger completely raw (blood raw)
Wedge salad you can barely see the toppings. It was a plate of just lettuce. Water no lemon, no tablecloth (other tables had table clothes)
It was a very bad night for Horatios not sure I will ever make it in their again!
4 star prices, but you’ll get 2 star food.
Horatio's staff is always friendly, attentive and welcoming. Since we have been going there for a very long time we know a lot of the staff. We are always made to feel special. Even if they are not waiting our table if they see us they stop and say hello.
The food is always wonderful and presentation is top notch.
I went to Horatio’s for my Valentines Day dinner. The ambiance was excellent as usual and the service was very good. I loved the Point Reyes salad, but I didn’t like the breaded sole because it had too much breading and the fish didn’t taste fresh. This was a one off for me since I usually love the food at Horatio’s. I will return to the restaurant, but I won’t order the sole.
Pluses: Above average food and dinning experience. Wonderfull ambiance, above average friendly service. Attentive, accommodating, and all with a sincere smile.
Negatives: The portions are small for it's pricing. Does the ambiance justify the higher pricing? No, but add it the great tasting menue, and it is eadier to swallow.
The on-line reservationing is convenient, but didn't have enough available seating slots available, even though when seated, there were several tables vacancies, and we were held waiting 25 minutes for our reservation time. A couple came in right after us without reservations, they were told seating only with reservations, they went on-line right there, and got a reservation time 15 minutes ahead of us, and was seated ahead of us. Disturbing!
Our most negative experience, was on the bill. We were suprised by a Restaurant imposed TAX! That's right, the businesses own imposed tax! So on the bill, there was two taxes, theirs and the state's. Their tax is subsidized employee wage, that (they said) keeps the restaurant owners from raising the food prices to pay their employees a living wage.
For two people, the bill came to $149, and we tipped about 18% ($25).
Out of fairness, They did say, they would remove it, if I requested. I left it, and took it out of her tip. She would have got 20%.
They said that the employees get the tax, via increased wage. Well I hope so, for her sake. I viewed it as double tipping.
Next time, I will request it removed.
If I wasn't attentive, I would have overlooked it. Disturbing!
Appetizers (Calamari) was the worst we've ever had, way over cooked, first time in the last four visits that this has happened, blaming this failure on "Valentines Day" dining, seamed like staff was rushed, and over stressed.
Had went here for my anniversary, loved the decor of the interior and exterior. The staff was so friendly and was very helpful. The food was very delicious! We would definitely return whenever we are in town!!
