Horatio's Ratings and Reviews
We both had The prefixed menu. The garlic butter bread at the table was delish.. All courses were well seasoned and included tasty veggies.
I had the pea salad and he had the clam chowder. He had a large portion of meatloaf and I had the small steak. We both love the burnt cream. Small wine list and I enjoyed the. Malbec. Large cup of coffee.
We had a bad experience, we got to the restaurant at 6:30 pm and it was freezing and the air was on, we asked to turn it down it never happened, (other customers were complaining also) being so cold did not make our dining experience very enjoyable, we left at 8:30 and it never got warm, we left without having dessert it was so cold. Also as you enter and leaving the restaurant, there was a foul smell, like a toilet or sewage had backed up, the rugs needed to be cleaned, they were filthy at the entrance of the kitchen. This is the second time we have been there with a bad experience, we will not be back, sad because it was our go to restaurant to bring friends and customers.
Service was ok but the food quality and atmosphere were below average. I should have known when I walked into the restaurant there were all kinds of signs warning patrons about theft in the parking lot. The real theft was in the dining room, charging for a prime rib that was too tough to eat!
Horatio's is rapidly becoming our favorite restaurant, we love the atmosphere, the service is impeccable, the menu options are fantastic, and the value (bang for the buck) is perfect. We live about 10 miles from Horatio's, but is totally worth the drive, even in traffic !!!
This is a great East Bay restaurant that is super for special occasions. The view of the marina and the bay can be spectacular, lots of window seating. The food was fresh and service was friendly and attentive (thanks Amber!). Kids are welcome but we had a screamer that parents didn't handle as well as they should have. It was the only blemish on what was otherwise a lovely meal.
All of the staff was very helpful. The two gentlemen at the door-Steven and Matt (i think) took care of my luggage as I had just landed and this was a business lunch. They secured a quiet table for my meeting and gave me a wonderful server in Tammy. The food was great, fresh and very tasty. I will patronize Horatio's again especially for my business meetings in Oakland.
After a long spell of not visiting, Sunday afternoon at Horatio's was a very pleasant positive surprise. My partner and I were seated at a window table after turning down an outside table. The service was a good, the entrees terrific and the garlic bread outstanding!
Our reservation was for 7:00pm, we arrived 6:50pm. We were seated at 7:10pm. (not busy at all, a lot of empty table) The server took our orders at 7:20pm. Right after our appetizer was served, our waiter just disappeared. We waited for an hour for our food to arrive. During that time, I tried to follow up with other waiters, no one care to take a look at us. Finally, I had to walk to a lady server and whispered to her that we have been waiting for an hour for our food to be served. At 8:30pm our food arrived, my son's steak was cold, and my husband code fish and my salmon was just lukewarm. my daughter's steak was just dry up. Apparently all the dishes were under the heated light for prolonged time. Other tables came later than us already paid their bills and left. No apology, no manager avail for complain! This spoiled our dinner for my daughter's birthday. There are a lot of good restaurants to choose and I am regret to get this one.
Horatios never disappoints! This is our go to place to celebrate birthdays & anniversaries and they do all they can t o make your visit memorable. We were also lucky enough to see the Blue Angels fly by the San Leandro Marina prior to our rerservationwhich made our anniversary extra special. They are on the pricey side but well worth it!!!
We have been coming here for at least 30 years and will continue to do so! Keep up the great work!
Our waiter Victor was especially helpful and informative. He took the time to explain menu options and ingredients in dishes which made it a learning experience. Since it was a special occasion for us, the complimentary creme brulee was a happy end to an enjoyable meal.
The food was very good and the service was perfect. But the food is very expensive for lunch (Lunch for 2 with no alcohol or appetizers or dessert was $60 plus tip). Their prices keep going up and UP and UP!
But the view is relaxing and wonderful with the boats and water.
