Go here for the ambience, and the beer. The food is mediocre.

We returned to visit HopMonk when we could not go upon an earlier recommendation. Sitting on the patio it was a bit quieter then being inside, and it was a good ambiance as well. There were not a lot of vegetarian options, but it was possible to make substitutions. My husband really enjoyed the Chicken Philly on Naan. Hopmonk had their own beers on tap, as well as ones from other local breweries.

A very fun lively place, with great food and beer selections.

We came to watch a friend perform and had great eats, met friendly people, and enjoyed the nice atmosphere .

Good brew pub. Food is fine, but nothing to wax poetic about. Seems to be a great place to go for live music. Great beers on tap.

Good food and good value especially at happy hour. Good for a date...found a quiet corner.

We were staying in Sebastopol for two days and HopMonk was recommend by one of the wine servers we met during a winery tour. It's a very casual space with two separate outdoor eating areas. Very pleasant experience sitting outside. We had pulled pork sandwich and the fish and chips. Both were tasty and large portions. Cocktails were super good but the red wine was too warm. A small complaint. Service was friendly.

Not that they can control the weather outside, but we had 4 elderly family members with us for Father's Day lunch and requested to be sat inside since it was over 100 degrees that day. There was no air conditioning inside, the doors were open, and it was unbearable. The food was really good and the service was excellent, but the lack of AC made sitting through the full meal really difficult. We were very disappointed.

Great place! Although we did have a bit of a wait while the 3 employees at the hostess stand were busy talking. A simple hello would have been better then ignoring guests.

The service was rude, the food was terrible all the way around, and with reservations had to wait over 30 minutes with plenty of tables open and servers available. never again. waste of my money and date.

Great place for a fairly quick dinner and something on the menu for all. They have an amazing variety of beer.

We've taken our family to HopMonk countless times, but this most recent experience was very lackluster. I would have complained but for embarrassing our guests. Three orders of mussels very over cooked and under seasoned. Everything else (except meat and cheese platters) was slow, poorly / sloppily presented and underwhelming. In summary, HopMonk did not impress our guests and it disappointed us.

A great time had by all who attended our gathering. The staff was very accommodating and food great. It's pretty awesome to have such an inviting place with which to have a gathering. The place is well kept, the staff friendly. We all had a really good experience.

The food wasn't as great as I thought it would be. I had the fish and chips and the fish was rubbery and over cooked. Also, didn't really look like the puctures.
Service was great though.

We decided to have dinner before a concert. Our initial impression was that they were overwhelmed by the size of the crowd. People were backed up waiting for tables many of which were standing empty prompting a fair amount of grumbling from waiting patrons. After being seated the server who seemed pushed and panicked ran through the several options they were out of, took drink orders and scampered off. Quite a while later she returned to tell us they were out of the beer we ordered and offered suggested replacements. Ok fine. The food when it came was fine, nothing particularly special, but still totally acceptable. And for a brew pub, they had a good range of options. There was a mistake on our bill, but it was happily corrected. All in all we had no major complaints, but frankly we wouldn't go out of our way to go back. I can see, if I were a local, and there wasn't a concert going on, this might be a fine place to go for a relaxed casual meal and a brew. Next time though I might try outside seating.

First time eating at Hopmonk. Really enjoyed it. Service was awesome and food equally impressive! Had some friends in from out of town and took the chance driving out to Sebastopol. Love the outdoor seating. Super spacious and not stuffy. Will be going back!

Although it was valentines day, it didn't seem very crowded. Our waitress was terrible, slow service and she forgot to order our appetizers.

Great food and service. Got seated right away with reservations and very good live music. Tickets and online reservations were easy to navigate.

Great spot to meet friends, especially when those friends all grew up in Sebastopol (in the 80's) and are in town for the holidays. Great outdoor patio area, casual fun atmosphere.

Food was really amazing. I had the onion soup and the hot kale trio. My partner had the fish and chips. The fries were creamy and crunchy. The fish was super fresh and the beer batter was light and crispy. If this restaurant were closer to my home in the East Bay, I would be here every week.
Music in the Abbey was good (The Blasters), but the sound was loud and distorted, at times. I watched the sound guy messing around on his cell phone the entire show. Boo!

Great for outdoor seating with kids. Drove up from Marin to meet son's family with small kids. Perfect place to eat and visit with small kids.

Made a dinner reservation for my friends Bachelorette Party. The atmosphere was inviting and I loved the decor. Our drinks and food were all great! The only draw back would be the service. Our server was not very helpful with menu thoughts and he wasn't very friendly. I'm not in that area often, but I would come again and recommend it to a friend.

We ate outside and at first we were the only ones there for lunch. We were able to carry on a lively conversation between the 5 of us. We told our waitress that we had an appointment at a winery so our service was quick. All 5 plates were quite delicious.

I felt rushed in my dinner reservations, like waitress wanted to turn over the table. But was pleased when attending music venue and bartender served me a half pint at my request as was minding alcohol due to driving later and was cool had offerings for non-alcohol beverages fancy ginger ale and even made me an attempt at a Shirley Temple though they didn't have all the ingredients. He was a great bartender.

I have had several previous visits to the area and Hop Monk was always on my must do list. I was very disappointed with the service. I am pretty easy going and do not usually review, so it has to be bad for me to do so. It was busy when we first arrived, so the slow service was not as big a deal and we were ready fro a slow casual dinner. As the crowd thinned out and we were one of the few tables left, it was quickly realized it was not because they were busy, but because the service was bad. We ordered an appetizer that took a bit to arrive, but was good. It then took a long time before our dinner order was taken. No worries at this point. When food arrived we had no silverware or napkins. I had fries and no ketchup had been offered. After trying several times to get the attention of the waitress , (she was sitting and talking with another table) I spied where these items were and walked across the restaurant where another person helped me. Refills on our drinks took an extraordinary amount of time. I really can not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Too hot inside, air needs to be on. This isn't the first time I've encountered this. Also..for some reason a ton of nats were flying around. So bad that we had to box our food withing the first 5 minutes of receiving it.

Ask to sit outside. LARGE back patio with fire pit, fountain and lights allll give great ambiance. Had the beet salad, garlic fries and meat and cheese platter. Everything was delicious. Full bar, plenty of brews on tap and a few cocktails. Great place to catch up with friends. We went back for lunch a couple days later and had the burgers, yummy as well. Def would go back

Great food and service. Good price point. Only a bit disappointed as they ran out of the first four beers we ordered.
