HOPE 46 Classic American Cuisine
The restaurant did not have our reservation even though I had a confirmation #. Then the Server seemed a bit put out that he had to set up our table. When two of our orders came with wheat toast instead of sourdough as ordered, he told us the cook said it was sourdough and did nothing about it. There was a nice female server that helped us out and got our orders corrected.
I had brunch on a sunday, the menu is really good, aaannnddd bottomless mimosas!!! I recommend lounging by the pool after and making a day out of it.
I took a friend to breakfast for their Birthday. It was very nice, but since they were understaffed the waiter was not very responsive. He apologized at the end of our meal.
It wasn't clear from the website that the restaurant was in the Lafayette Hotel. Once we found it, we enjoyed eating outside at the pool. The waiter was great and we enjoyed chatting with others sitting outside. Food was fine. Prices were a little high.
Booked table at 8:45 through Open Table. Arrived and told that they no longer used open table and were surprised to hear that I was able to make a booking. Also told that they closed at 9PM. We were rushed through dinner. Server was apologetic about having to bring appetizers and entrees at same time. Check brought to us shortly after receiving our entrees. Message seemed to be " Get out". Not the servers fault. Most likely following directions by manager who wanted to close up and get staff off the clock. Food was fine but there is no need to go out of your way to visit this restaurant.
Took my mom for Mother's Day brunch along with my daughter. Beautiful venue, awesome food! We will be back!
We were staying at the Lafayette Hotel for 2 nights and made 7:30 pm reservations for a Wed. night on my husband's birthday. There were only two other couples in the entire restaurant! But the food was delicious and the barista/waitress was fantastic. We enjoyed our stay and the dinner meals were delicious! Thank you!
Had Sunday brunch. Food was very good, place is a bit small but they have a nice terrace overlooking the hotel pool.
Hope 46 was a PERFECT option for brunch to visit with visiting family. I was having difficulty finding a restaurant for Sunday brunch that took reservations. My cousin was staying at The Lafayette for a conference. Food was great with multiple options to fit all appetites, they had a set table ready for us on arrival. Will come again!
Pleasant and comfortable. It is off the lobby of the Lafayette Hotel, which doesn't have singage outside for the restaurant.
Quite a pleasant little place, once you find it. It is conveniently located, but the signage for the hotel in which it is located overpowers anything for the restaurant. It is a peaceful oasis that is worth finding.
The waitress did not have good customer service, she was bland and sort of rude to our party from the very beginning. The food was ok, a bit under seasoned and a bit overpriced. The setting was nice, by the pool, if the weather was better it would've been perfect. The elevator music that was softly playing made the setting extremely boring, considering it was my 21st birthday brunch, I wish the music could've been more upbeat and louder.
The food was great, the service was excellent, and the cocktails were expertly mixed!
Hope 46 is a lovely restaurant especially considering the fact that it is part of Lafayette Hotel, so ideal for guests. The food was great with generous portions and cooked to a high standard. We sat in the restaurant’s outdoor seating which overlooked the pool and palm trees. It can be quite noisy due to people in the pool and surrounding hotel rooms however, the atmosphere is pleasant. Overall, I definitely recommend this restaurant if you’re ever staying in the hotel or near this area in San Diego!
Great for pre-improv show. Food very good, service friendly and attentive, good value & fun locale.
Came here for thanksgiving dinnner as their website didn’t say prefixed menu only. My husband went to sit down on his chair and another server had left a dirty tray on his seat. The food wasn’t even warm and manager who abruptly sat us didn’t even come by after bad experience ( our first time ever here )- so we dropped $150 and left underwhelmed other than the cocktails. They weren’t even very busy at all!
This place was a very pleasant surprise - great food at great prices and a really nice atmosphere. Even better, there was no wait for Saturday brunch at a time when other places had up to an hour wait. Highly recommended!
Beautiful locations inside La Fayette Hotel (another gem) and amazing food! Loved LOVED my breakfast sandwich (it was HUGE) and the Lamb Lollipops! Yum!
Delicious food and a great view of the pool! We brought the kids, who had big portions for $5, and enjoyed a Bloody Mary and a big brunch. Will definitely go try dinner next time.
Eaten at your fine establishment three times in last six weeks -- It would have been more but I was away for three of the weeks. I have lived two blocks down Mississippi St for 28 years, and am so happy that we now have a 'quality' restaurant bar within immediate walking distance. Thank you.
Our third time here after discovering this hidden gem in the neighborhood. Food is really good
and the funky location is great for people watching.
Brussels and Spice shrimp ... success
Great little place inside the Lafayette Hotel on El Cajon. Great menu with vegetarian options,
nice wines by the glass and tables with a view of the pool.
Wait was just a tad long BUT mannnnnn the food was SO WORTH IT!!! We WILL return!
This was our first visit to The Lafayette. We were there for Mother's Day Brunch Buffet at HOPE 49. I love retro so this was a pleasant surprise. Overall, the food was average with the exception of the made-to-order risotto which was unique and tasty. The only real problem with our experience was that, although when making the reservation we specified needing a highchair, they had none available and took about 15 minutes while we sat at our table waiting for mgmt. to find one. I would definitely return to try this place out on a non-special day if for no other reason than the history of The Lafayette.
Went there for mother's day. Food was amazing. So many yummy things to try. We sat outside where it was a bit more quiet overlooking the pool. The staff was super friendly and helpful with the food
We were a party of three adults and three children (ages 8 - 11), celebrating the 8 yo's First Communion. We were 25 minutes early for our reservation, but they sat us quickly. The service was good with one exception - my aunt's scramble was overlooked and she had to wait an extra 15 minutes after the rest of us were served. Still, the food was excellent and the ambience perfect for our family. We will definitely be eating there again.
Aside: we have a pool membership here, and my husband and I frequently bring our three children to swim while we lounge with drinks and watch them, then end with a family lunch poolside. We are fans!
Very enjoyable just very slow service Seem to be understaffed. This is the second time it’s happened. Hope they can improve because it’s otherwise really pleasant.
Nice North Park, casual restaurant with outdoor seating by the pool (Lafeyette Hotel). Friendly, courteous and professional wait staff.
When for a Friday night date with the Bride. Food was very good
Good food, great service (Tiziana). We will definitely be back!
They accommodated a party of 12 outside for my friend's baby shower. They allowed us to take up extra space for presents. We brought in our own dessert and flowers. The all you can drink mimosas for Sunday brunch was well worth it! We stayed until 3pm without anyone pressuring us to leave. Our server was not all that great. She got 2 shirley temples with vodka for pregnant women when they ordered shirley temples. She was not attentive to beverage refills either.
We went for Sunday brunch. The staff was very attentive and awesome. The food was very good and so were the drinks.
Fabulous food. Fabulous servers. It was a Winner All-Around. Menu selections were Superb. Chef Rocks!
Easy, casual, neighborhood spot. Food was simple but good. Good drinks and decent wine list. We sat outside by the pool and it was relaxing and cool.
The food was wonderful. My Steak and hash browns were dome exactly as I prefer them. My mother also raved about her food.
The shrimp appetizer was delicious and the rest of the food was good and comforting.
6 of us had a blast at the valentine dinner/dance in the ballroom. The band was great, the food was mostly great, the service outstanding, and there was room to dance on the dance floor. My only wish is that there was a more robust AC system as it did feel a bit stuffy as the evening wore on - nothing a martini couldn't fix! And the jalepeno infused margariti did not have much of a kick to it, if any.
Both of our dishes were wonderful! My gnocchi was piping hot and delicious, with a generous amount of spinach.
My husband and I went to the Valentine's Day dinner event that was hosted. It was a great event! The music was awesome and I loved the live band. The food could've been a little better. It needed more flavor but the menu was really good. Overall the event was worth it especially the price for it. So worth it and memorable!
