   We each enjoyed a lovely halibut dinner. Our server and the other staff were exceptional. They all worked well as a team! The only negative is the noise factor. Robert McKenzie's design of the building doesn't work for a busy restaurant especially since all the tired/old carpets were removed (which is good because they were ugly). It was loud before; but now its over the top. We could hardly hear our server and she had a difficult time hearing us. We had to yell to her and each other. I feel very badly for the staff having to endure that work environment. Our voices were gone by the time we left. I cannot imagine how exhausting it would be for the staff. Managment: please do something sooner than later to rectify the extreme sound reverberation; its not a safe workplace. And please share this review with your staff as they should know how terrific they are and that guests really have their backs. Thank you.

   We were welcomed in a friendly manner and seated at a window table as requested at the time of booking. All staff were as friendly and attentive as pre-renovation (this was our first time back since). We ordered and the food arrived in fair time (the restaurant was busy), however 2 of the meals arrived way too cold (steaks/fries). However the server apologised and the meals were replaced with fresh ones, which were delicious! We were also given 1 x free desert as compensation. Despite the cold meals we felt the response was excellent and we easily forgave them and shall return!! It's hard to find fault with the Merganser; food, service and view are always fabulous. I had the braised beef and their version of ratatouille, which was delicious (and hot!)

   You have been our favorite resturant. However since you reopenned the food has not been consistently good. Too bad you did not get the old chef back

   What an improvement over last year! The new remodel is bright and clean, and the quality of food is now up there with best. I will start coming back more often!
