We asked to have two things done a little different to the food and the waitress said (after speaking with the chef) the chef won’t do that. Salad with grilled shrimp came out without shrimp. Not at all accommodating and food was average at best. Drinks were good as was the ambiance. Not worth $200 a couple!
I was visiting from CT. I read your reviews online. I was excited and I was not disappointed. It was a lovely dinner. We had about 6 small plates to share between two people and we were stuffed. If I return to Huntington (to see a show at the Paramount) I will be happy to return.
Quite a difference the Saturday after Thanksgiving Day 2017. The salmon was not up to par. The white mashed potato was pasty. Above all what was the most irritating was when the waitress came over to ask us “ what are you guys drinking”. The last time I looked is I am married to my wife ;a woman) for 50 yrs. and the waitress continued addressing us as “you guys”. I wish the wait staff in the industry stop using that and address us like “may I take a drink order”. This time of our visit was very disappointing in every thing we experienced. By the way we arrived 5:10 pm and got out at 7:45 because the service was so slow. We usually tip 30% as we know how important tips are. Unfortunately for the waitress we only left 15%.
Loved this spot. Nice meal followed by a DJ and dancing. Perfect for night out. Prices were good and food was good. The service was very good. Considering how popular it is I was expecting stuck up hostesses (which is common) but they were so nice and the wait staff was great too.
My family and I always enjoy our excursions to Honu Kitchen and Cocktails. The food, service and ambiance are stellar. The menu is creative and the waitstaff is very attentive. The restaurant is spacious and beautifully decorated. I would highly recommend Honu to anyone who is searching for a wonderful dining experience.
My wife and I come here often, but this was easily our best experience to date. We came for our one year anniversary and the staff treated us great. Sal, our server, was fantastic. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. If I could give him more than 5 stars I would. See you soon!
Often a party of three is placed in the least desirable area of a restaurant. In this case it was in between the bus cart and kitchen. I had to fight to get a better table although we had reservations. Of our food, the PEI muscles were outstanding! Breads in general were too greasy, as were the fries. Our server was delightful.
My friends and I ate there this weekend for the first time. Parking was awful so I was running 25 minutes late. They were nice enough to hold our table and get us out in time for our concert. Very nice staff and delicious food. I look forward to going back again!!
Another great meal at Honu. We come here frequently because the food is consistently great and the service excellent. I had the pumpkin ravioli as a starter and the farmer's salad topped with portabello mushroom for my main. The ravioli was excellent and the salad was fresh and tangy (I forgot to ask for the dressing on the side, but it wasn't too overpowering). My husband had the minestrone soup for a starter (he loved it, spicy and not too watery) and the steak as a main. He wished he had the option of mashed potatoes and a veggie rather than the baked potato square that came with it. Overall, we were happy we chose Honu again.
The food was fine but not exceptional. I had the spinach salad with grilled salmon and the salmon had a canned texture to it, though it was well seasoned. The charcuterie plate seemed a little skimpy. My friend said the caramelized onions on his burger were not seasoned well. My other friend's steak was cooked well. So it was a little hit and miss for the prices they are asking. There are much better options for the money in the village.
Whenever I crave a burger, the place I head to is Honu. Their Gruyere Burger is out of this world! Their other menu items are also great, including the Pumpkin Goat Cheese Ravioli, Farmer's Market Salad, Braised Short Rib, Seared Ahi Tuna and a few others. Good drinks and fun on weekends.
Honu has quickly become one of our go to places. Food is always excellent and creatively plated. Specials are always worth considering. There's something on the menu for everyone and the ambiance is lively but comfortable. We never feel rushed or pressured when we're there.
