You have to wait for the available table if you do not call for reservation before hand.
Some of the dishes sold out if you have not pre-ordered at the time of making the reservation.

What Hong Kong Lounge lacks in updated decor it makes up for in authentic flavors, preparation, service and taste. This was our first visit and our server was most helpful in pointing our dishes based on our questions. He suggested the perfect amount to order as well. The dumplings were light, piping hot and each bite offered a delicious combination of meat, fish or vegetable. The pork buns were packed with well seasoned pork which remained moist and in tact. The sea bass was extremely fresh and flaky. Go for any dish served in a pineapple; first it’s so pretty. And the flavor just makes you want more. We had several servers who were gracious and stayed nearby to offer assistance and explanations. Don’t miss the Sake list. But if winebis your preference they offer a lovely selection.

I chose this restaurant as it was heralded as the "best Chinese food in San Francisco". I made reservations for 7:15 pm, arrived at 7:10, and wasn't seated until 7:25. Then, I was seated immediately next to the door. Yes, literally, I could open the door for guests.

The waiter didn't understand basic English. The order took 50 mins, yes, almost an hour. Then the server forgot to put in the order for rice. This is a Chinese restaurant, who forgets the rice? He also forgot the order for the drinks. He brought the rice 8 mins (I timed it) after the entrees were on the table and the sodas after that.

Now, dear reader, if you remember back when Pres Bush sent a Secret Service agent for Chinese food in Denver during a stop? That's where I normally eat. I'm used to good Chinese. Hong Kong Lounge II is no where near as good as what I get two blocks from my house.

The food is exceptionally overpriced for what it is. The service was poor. The seating is very limited and bad. Overall rating? "Skip it".

Great for Dim Sum. We didn’t like the coffee ribs as much as other reviewers but the Shanghai dumplings and shumai and potstickers and onion pancake were all great.

Food was very well prepared and tasty - several unique dishes not found in other restaurants, e.g. reasonably priced abalone and mushroom melange, macadamia vegetable dish. Only disappointing dish was the crab and noodle (where was the crab?) All in all, with careful study of the menu, one can come away feeling well taken care of. The staff were all friendly and helpful. I would suggest that the restaurant update its web site as we found out it was a "lotta" years old and didn't reflect the current menu.

The food here at Hong Kong Lounge 2 was very delicious. The waiter also brought out a mango pudding on the house for my birthday. I was pleasantly surprised. I would recommend this restaurant.

Always enjoy dim sum here-the service is better than most dim sum places: prompt, attentive and brisk but not too rushed. Food is very, very good-flavors are spot-on: from staples like Siu mai, har gow, steamed pork buns to steamed tripe (so good!) and chicken feet. Yummy. Though slightly pricier than other places like The Kitchen and Dim Sum King, it's worth it. You can have a nice family brunch and not feel rushed.
Reservations for 6 or more for dim sum, otherwise it's walk-in only. No ordering from carts-it's all from a dim sum menu.

The waiter mis heard an item in our order and acted like it was our fault. Very rude. Did not offer to take it back. We were there with 10 people for my mothers 84th birthday. Unfortunate, terrible customer service. Would not take three credit cards for an equal split. Ridiculous . Will not go again !

Surprisingly poor food given the price ($9 sui mei), location (Geary near Anza), and rav reviews. The calamai was greasy, and battered in a non-traditional tempura like coating. Salt and pepper ribs were tasty but hardly worth $13 given their size.

We were very disappointed by the small portions served.
We ordered 1/2 crispy chicken and the portion looks like 1/3 chicken or 1/2 Cornish game hen.
We ordered 1/2 Peking duck but portion looks like 1/3 of a duck.
The seaweed soup had hardly any soup, lots of seaweed and its salty.
The chicken chow meinnhad maybe 2 slivers of chicken.
Price is high for the portions served

Our first time here was wonderful. Great service and the food was some of the best Chinese food we've ever had in San Francisco. Definitely try the lobster and noodle dish.

This was the best meal I've enjoyed here to date. Since my last visit it now offers organic chicken and, in some dishes, organic vegetables. The only disappointment was the thickness of the XLB wrapper and the dearth of soup within. The roast chicken, salt and pepper (could use more chiles) rex sole, pea shoots with garlic, and organic mixed rice with vegetables were all both delicious and very generous. I hope the restaurant's decision to start offering organic ingredients will lead to greater sensitivity to sustainability in its seafood selections.

From UK and we wanted a easy good meal as had just flown in on long flight. Food was great and served very quickly and was fresh and authentic. Great dumplings and seafood, noodles etc. So was just perfect for 4 of us with 2 demanding teens! Is a bit out of the way but worth the trip.

Winter melon soup was phenomenal. It must be ordered at least 48 hours in advance. Steamed clams were fresh and delicate. Crab with tender greens was extraordinary. Curry chicken in kabocha was memorable. A great place for dinner.

We were there for a family vacation. We chose one of their four prefixe menu choices. There were eight of us but the order for 5 people was more than enough food to fill us all. Service was excellent and attentive. They helped us several times with what the dish was. Wine list ok. We were there on a Sunday night and the place was packed and noisy...it did quiet down as the evening went on, perhaps because everyone was eating and not talking. Good find particularly for parties of 6 or more interested in a family style dining experience.

Food was disappointing. I'd been there 4 years earlier and was impressed, but this time the squab was dry, the pea sprouts were large leaves and no better than any other Chinese restaurant and the deep fried oysters, although crisp, were almost liquid on the inside - little "oyster integrity."

The staff was excellent, contrasting with the mediocrity of the menu items we selected.

Perhaps one of the best Chinese restaurants in San Francisco in terms of value and quality of food. On the menu are varied dishes, some of which you will not find at other Chinese restaurants. Every dish we sample offered a unique taste and the menu is full of choices for every palate. Also - their fine menu of dumplings are homemade, light, refined and delicious. Hong Kong Lounge 2's excellent service starts with the great host, a young affable man who makes you feel completely at home the moment you enter the restaurant. The high level of service, which is warm and extremely capable, without being intrusive, continues throughout the meal, the kind of service you would expect at a very high end restaurant. We had made a request when we booked that was honored and beyond our expectations, something that was important and greatly appreciated. We are always pleased with our meals here and consider this one of the reliably great Chinese restaurants in the city.
