Hondos Ratings and Reviews
Just what we wanted for a celebration. Quiet enough to hear each other talk. The food was so good we ate it all. Usually once we are satiated we stop and have the leftovers boxed up. Our waitress was so pleasant. Great place for special occasions or even an everyday lunch!
As always, an excellent meal. But I had received an email with an acknowledgement of our wedding anniversary, and it was not honored because it was Sunday. It did not cause us any angst, but did think it was odd; especially since the restaurant had less than 50% of the tables occupied. Still, a very excellent evening.
We were seated right away and our drink orders were very promptly delivered. The server was very helpful with the menu. The night we were there the crowd was a bit too loud for my liking but that is no fault of the restaurant. My husband's steak was made to perfection but he would have rather ordered prime rib which was not on the menu. The sauce on my ribs was too sweet and there was too much of it and ribs were very fatty. Maybe the extra sauce should be served on the side. We have been to this restaurant before and thought that the food was not as good as usual.
Sunday Brunch was a nice event with music playing by 2 musicians. The omlet maker & station provided fresh omlets to one's liking with an array of vegetables and ham to add. Also there was ham or prime rib being served as well. However this area would get backed up quickly and the wait was long. The salads were fresh and fruits as well. The entrees had fish, a creamed chicken dish but the grits were absolutely delicious! Squash; bacon, sausage and wonderful seafood bisque. The desserts did not disappoint with coconut cake, carrot cake and a chocolate cake were our choices! Only thing we would recommend is to watch the buffet when it was nearly done and to have maybe 2 people at the cramped omlet station. All in all it was a delicious and enjoyable event. The cost was more than we would normally spend and would have appreciated coffee or soft drink to be included.
One of the worse experience I have ever had here
My son's steak under cook
We go every year for anniversary
They always bring special dessert
They did not said cook had issues
Was not crowded for that excuse
Did not offer anything in place
Told manager of the awful experience
Hondos is always reliable when you want a lunch out that is a little bit more special. Took a girl friend who needed a lift. Food is excellent and the service was just right - attentive but not intrusive. We wanted to sit and chat for awhile before ordering and the server was very gracious.
I was very disappointed with my steak. I got the boneless ribeye and it had very little taste. Perhaps I should have gotten a bone in, but this was particularly bad. The fries were decent but nothing special. Mashed potatoes were good. My seafood soup was good but not great. The honey butter on the bread was the best thing. I would go back and give it another try but I will definitely get a steak-bone in or ask for steak sauce.
This was a great dining experience. The service at Hondo's is top notch. You are well attended to without feeling overwhelmed by the staff. Our food and wine were on point. The shrimp cocktail and scallop appetizers were delicious. Hondo's cocktail sauce is the best. Our steaks were tender, full of flavor and cooked perfectly. We will return for certain.
I have eaten at Hondos many times in the past. This was the first time I have ever been so upset at not just the service but the food swell. Willing to give it another try but after that if the standards don't come up I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Thought it weird that on a Friday night it wasn't packed. Something changed and it wasn't for the better. Soup cold, Steak had to be recooked, waiter never came back around to check on us. They did give us a free desert but after spending and extra 40 min at the restaurant waiting on our food I was just done.
The atmosphere was great. Nice booths and tables available. Service from Jeff was superb. He answered all questions, explained options and was attentive to our eating preferences. He and the management were knowledgeable of our special occasion and responded appropriately. Food was excellent-some of the best steak we have had.
