Homestretch Steakhouse at Hoosier Park Racing & Casino
Being a horse track, it is a bit loud for a nice dinner
Hooray! Anderson has a restaurant with great food! Including USDA prime grade beef (not USDA choice, select, or industrial grade). Great experience overall. I’d wish that the bar had had Campari because I like negroni cocktails, but I realize it’s not a common drink.
Food was great. Service was good, but (bc we were at the last seating for the evening), it was obvious that the service staff was ready for us to leave (for example, when we ordered dessert, the server asked, “And that’s to go?” even though we had not mentioned to-go
service. Also, given that there were 2 “assistant servers” and one server, water glasses should have always been full and staff more attentive. Not any major issues though.
Dessert was really good (although likely thaw-and-serve, in was high-end and buttery).
We had not realized there was live horse racing that would be broadcast LOUDLY in the restaurant. That was a downside. Watching the races through the large picture windows was pleasant; indoor loudspeakers were not pleasant. Crowd was raucous (drinks and birthdays, etc.), but not anything unusual for a casino restaurant.
I’ll definitely be back. I consider it the only good restaurant in Anderson!
just not the high end steakhouse they portray to be. overly priced but the waitress was very educated and sweet. with better food it wouldnt be half bad.
We enjoyed the dining experience. It was quiet, but then there weren't very many diners . Can't say the same for the buffet! It was lined up for several hours. It was nice to have the pop-up screen at our table to watch horse racing from various tracks. Our server was attentive and friendly.
Outstanding server. Lindsey is the best. Will be back many times.
The service was fantastic Scot and CJ were great food was great from the beginning to the end
Good wine gexcellent food nice place to have a nice quiet dinner with your date
If you are looking for a place to go on a special occasion, this would be great. A bit pricey for just a regular date night dinner. Food was wonderful but keep in mind that everything is ala carte. Service was excellent.
This is one of the worst experiences I have had in a steak house. I had a 7:30 pm reservation. I got there a little early because of the pending snow storm. I got seated at 7:15. My order was not taken until 8:15. My food finally arrived at 9. The Prime rib eye was over cooked to some of it was charcoal with only 3 sq. inch was edible and was good and tender. I ordered jumbo asparagus ($9) and got only 5 spears which was almost dropped my the server. No baked potato (even though a couple who sat across from me and were seated after me got theirs). And the worst thing about this place is that the restaurant was cold. 'm clad I had a heavy jacket on.
I do not recommend this place until the service people get better trained. This place does have potential to be a good restaurant,
Overpriced, food not cooked as ordered, steak was tough. Seem to be understaffed.
We have visited this establishment several times and have never been disappointed. Food is a little pricey but the quantity and quality make it worth the cost. Employees are the best one could ever wish: very attentive, friendly, and helpful. Atmosphere is perfect. I could go on and on.
Good value! The steak quality could be better. Salad is excellent. The wine selection for the house wines are good. There should be a TV screen that shows the winners in the casino drawings so if one is eating and their name is drawn they won’t miss out on a win in the casino.
Arrived for my reserved time of 5:45, was seated promptly. Waitress was very pleasant and informed us of the chefs special. I opted for the Steakhouse Salad very nice, followed by Fillet Mignon and Baked potato. The desert cart was brought around so I ordered the 5 layer cake to go. Later after I returned home and wanted to taste the awesome looking cake and was very disappointed it was very dried out, could not eat it! $7.00 wasted, so wish I would have tasted it there cause I would not have brought it home!
I brought my girlfriend, daughter, and her friend for my daughters birthday. While we were waiting on our food a waitress spilled shrimp cocktail in my daughters friends hair and on her coat. She didn’t apologize. Maybe she was embarrassed or unaware. Management came over and asked if we needed anything. We didn’t make a scene. The only reason I didn’t say anything after the bill came was because a gentleman sang happy birthday to my daughter and saved the evening. It goes without saying something If not the whole meal should have been comped. Not sure if I will be back. The menu needs to have some things added or updated and more business would come. Have been disappointed in the Wagyu steak the last three times I’ve been there.
The food was excellent The Bone in Ribeye Steak was excellent and prepared exactly what I asked for. The waitress was very attentive
Service was excellent. Food presentation was good but food was just okay. Restaurant offers no ambiance and music was a little loud
Food was excellent as always. People are so friendly and service was great.
very disappointing had previously gone to indiana grand steakhouse which was wonderful
Had to go down alot of steps to sit at tables ,they did have table clothes on so you could tell them from the buffet tables. No atmosphe , just one type of bread, mushrooms were abit chewy, steak cooked perfect but crab mac and cheese was not very pleasent. Friend had mushrooms and chef special risotto and
not very good. There was no creme brulee as the chef doesn't like to make it but alot of people ask for it!
coffee only sold by cup as they have a kueric so extra charge if you want another cup !
A band was getting warmed up right next to us so no atmosphe
Sorry for spelling mistakes but I am sure you can read it
The food was very pretty and delicious we had a great time and our host Jill was the best she went above and beyond with customer service amazing host
The staff was incredible. Everyone we met was very friendly, courteous, and informative.
We went on New Years Eve at 9:00. This turned out to be the last sitting. Waited 1/2 hour for our table (lots of empty ones available), then waited 20 minutes for a waitress, and had to ask three times for water. Steak was good, prime rib was well done versus medium. We’ve been here several times and had good service and good food. This was very disappointing.
Once again the food was fantastic, but the service was poor. We had a 7:00 pm reservation and were seated promptly and the assistant server brought us water. We tried to place our drink order but he does not take them your server does. At 7:20 we flagged down the assistant and asked if we had a server. he went and found her. She took our drink order by 7:35 we walked to the bar ad asked the manager (who I have praised in the past but again was doing bar duty do to lack of help) about our drinks. He retrieved them for us off a cart midway down the stairs, no telling how long they had been there. The server saw the manager getting our drinks and came and thanked him, she then took our food order. We have now been seated 45 minutes and are just placing our first food order. The entire evening went like this and once again the food is great, the prices are good but the service is terrible. The redeeming quality is the Manager (Brent Wright I think) as he works very hard with little help and the help he has seems to disappear and never check back.
Second time dining there. First class all the way! They really go out of there way to see that everything is perfect for you. Look forward to dining there again!
My wife and I took my mother there for Christmas dinner. We all had a great time and the food was exquisite.
The waitress was absolutely the best and the fillet melted in my mouth. It was perfectly prepared!
This place is one of the best kept secrets around. I took my wife there for her birthday and they made sure we were treated like royalty. Our steaks had much flavor and was cooked to perfection and the manager Brent made sure we were satisfied. The bartender scot has a sense of humor and made great drinks. We will definitely be going back again soon!!!
The food was excellent. But there was a live band playing so loud my wife and I were unable to talk to one another during dinner
This restaurant is amazing. Great food, excellent service and everyone was so friendly.
This was an OK experience, tried something new for dinner and it was just ok. At least I can now say I tried it. Braised short ribs, some what fatty but taste was ok!
The food was ok. The service was great! The ambiance leaves much to be desired unless you are into horse racing.
The service was excellent the atmosphere is very good everyone is very friendly and know there job well probably the best restaurant in Anderson in the best kept secret around
Took my wife here for her birthday. And we just moved into our new home a few days before, so a double celebration. Our server, Jill, was more than informative about the wine list and dinner menu, and made sure we were well taken care of. The steaks we both had were flavorful and tender, and our side dishes were equally delicious.
Service was weak at best, meals were wrong, food quality was poor, Bake potato and mushrooms showed up 30 min after the meal.
Excellent service and great food - great service (Brent waiter was excellent) - nice view of the racetrack and the atmosphere was upbeat but it crazy!!
Everything was great.
Very attentive service from all in the dining room. Friendly but very efficient.
We had been here before and decided to come back as the food is always excellent. We were not disappointed. The food was perfect and the service was excellent. Our thanks to the Manager Brent Wright. Well done...
On our original reservation made thru Open Table we requested a table near the front window in order to enjoy the racing as we ate. Being accustomed to clubhouses, we knew to ask for a front table. We were secluded near a railing with a curtain, back off the main row of tables and behind a pillar with large monitors. Our view of the racetrack was the finish line; only the finish line. We asked for a different table, but were first ignored, then refused. Actually, we were on a walkway for the track announce who would through the restaurant (in front of us) every race to interview winning drivers.
While our server (Toni) was attentive and aware of our needs, she had to serve more tables than she could manage. My salad came out and we waited another 10 minutes for my wife's soup. The 6oz. filet was $26 but certainly not 26 dollars worth of food or effort. Our steaks were warm (not hot), fair in flavor, done to our request, but the quality of meat was sub-par; gritty and grisly for a filet. Plus, our steaks were served by a man in a suit. We saw four persons serve our food and only Toni stopped to check on our satisfaction.
If you are interested in watching Harness Racing at Hoosier Park and/or looking for an exceptional meal, I would not recommend the Homestretch Steakhouse. The track view from this restaurant can be very limited and the food is not $26 steak quality. I would suggest that you spend your $100 "going out to eat" budget somewhere else.
The food quality was not good. We had the pork chop and the bacon wrapped chicken. Very chain restaurant quality. Cooked rough, either too salty or not enough flavor. The seafood appetizer was the worst. Bland, and it caused us a stomach ache after words.
Another great meal ...no room for dessert.
Enjoyed horse racing/betting and weren't rushed to leave when meal was completed.
Great attentive service.
My score is lower than I anticipated it would be for the following reason. Due to all the events that were taking place at the restaurant, they served a limited menu the evening we were there. We were told this after being seated, and several times during the course of the dinner. This included all menu items, from appetizers, soups, salads, main courses, side and desserts. So when I dine there in the future which I will definitely do so I will call first before making a reservation. When you have a menu in mind you thought you would be choosing from after viewing the website, it was a bit of a let down when those items were not available.
The salads were very good and fresh. The Blue Cheese Wedge was very good, the Blue cheese dressing and crumbles very flavorful but not overpowering in flavor. The Homestretch salads also were to two members in our party's liking. One liked the raspberry vinaigrette, the other would choose a different dressing the next time. The steakhouse salad was also deemed very good by the fourth member of the party.
Three in the party ordered filet and stated it was very good and cooked to their liking. One in the party ordered prime rib which also was very good. We all shared baked potatoes which were large enough to share and came with a wide variety of toppings.
Dessert was limited to two types of cheesecake and a choice of a chocolate cake. The cheesecakes were ordered and taken home to finish.
The two highlights were the Steakhouse Bruschetta appetizer. It was a hit for the table. Toasted crostinis with blue cheese aioli, tomatoes, avocado, chives, beef tips and Homestretch Steakhouse Sauce. Very flavorful and the flavors blended very well.
The second highlight was being able to bet on the horse races and view the track from our table. It was so fun and entertaining.
