About Homer Street Cafe & Bar
LOCALLY MINDED. RESPONSIBLY RAISED
Housed in two of Vancouver’s most iconic buildings, Homer St Cafe and Bar is a contemporary restaurant set in the historic Homer Building and new Beasley building in Vancouver’s Yaletown district.
Classic comfort cooking takes center stage thanks to a fire engine red rotisserie that roasts all manner of proteins. It’s chicken that’s the star here: served in quarter, half or whole portions, accompanied by classic sides basted in jus.
A decidedly adventurous wine and cocktail list rounds out the menu. The restaurant features two spaces that consist of an open concept kitchen “Chef’s Bar” where one can get up close and personal with the culinary team, a semi private dining room with reclaimed factory windows, and bespoke seating complemented by antique tiling.

Homer Street Cafe & Bar Ratings and Reviews
Really cool ambiance and vibe. Attentive and fast service, despite of being packed on Saturday night. Delicious, juicy, done-just-right chicken, possibly the best I've had locally (and I tend to only buy from organic free-range local farms). The noise level was high, which would not make it the best spot for a first date (unless you don't mind yelling at each other from across the table). All in all, a definite thumbs up! Will be back again to try more things off their rotisserie menu.
Homer St Cafe is absolutely amazing; the service is top notch, the food is timely and delicious and the atmosphere is wonderful. They play the greatest music and I've always had a great experience. The manager checked in on us to make sure everything was perfect and the attention to detail is unequaled. The perfect spot for a date night, a catch-up drink or a casual dinner to catch up with friends. Highly recommend, will definitely be going back!
My husband and I ate at Homer Street Cafe before going to a show. The atmosphere was fantastic: we loved the vibe and the interior. A very beautiful building! Our server was very attentive and ensured we always had everything we needed and that we were happy with our meals.
The food was perfect and decent sized portions! We ordered more than was necessary.
Our Caesar cocktails were delicious! Not made with Clamato juice.
I have now had three meals at Homer Street Cafe, and each was a wonderful experience. They are best known for their roasted chicken, and justifiably so--it is crispy on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. A 1/4 chicken is plenty. I also felt that the service was attentive without being overbearing. The recommendations of our waiter were spot on. I have sat on outdoor patio twice, and it is a very pleasant place to enjoy a meal and see Vancouver pass by. This is a very nice, very capable restaurant. The food is delicious without being fussy.
I've been to Homer St Cafe a few times and the food and service is always great. The only thing I wish can be improved on is air conditioner (if there is any). We were sweating while we were enjoying the food. The only spot that won't make us sweat is probably outside, but not everyone likes sitting outdoor.
The HSC&B is becoming my go to restaurant in Vancouver! Have been a few times now and had a great experience each visit. Sat on the patio; the beautiful evening enhanced the great service and delicious food. Supper was with another couple; we each had something different...all were very good...I had the roast pork > Fantastic!!
I emailed prior to making the reservation to ask when was "meatwave" which is a promo they have every last Friday of the month. They said it was the 25th, so I made the reservation then and stated it was for meatwave too. 2 days before ny reservation, i called to confirm it was for meatwave and they said yes. On the day of my reservation, they said they decided to move meatwave to the next weekend, and said they tried to call me though I didn't even get a voicemail. They didn't do anything to make it right or show any gesture that they were sorry. They didn't accommodate despite my efforts and despite my making a reservation for it a month before. I was just surprised that such a nice restaurant wouldn't even try to make it right with their guests. It was my first time here and though the place was nice, the disappointment has truly tainted my experience, and the lack of making up for it would not make me choose to go back.
Food was good but the place is a little bit noisy so it's hard to have a conversation. Also, there's 2 separate areas, and the area where we were seated was smoky (from the kitchen?). Not that I minded but just for people who might be sensitive, you can ask for a table at the main side of the restaurant.
We love to dine at Homer St Cafe regularly and went tonight for a dinner for a group of 6. We were seated by the kitchen on the Lower level but unfortunately it was too smokey and hot. Service was amazing as always and the food was excellent. The noise level tonight was way too loud and along with all the smoke from the kitchen that made some of us very uncomfortable, it was not a relaxing dinner unfortunately. We will now always only request the bar/dining area/patio in the upper level for these reasons.
We found the portions quite generous and was a it disappointed that we couldn't find any room for dessert - must try- crispy chicken wings and maple glazed pork belly. Service was super friendly and place is casual but chic. Great place to meet friends after work and graze.
FYI - parking in front of the restaurant on Homer is $3.00/hr. Take the time to find more affordable parking...
Been wanting to try for a while, one of the girlfriends who went out this evening says she always has great experiences here and the food delish, so the other 5 of us were very excited to try it. The restaurant looks small from the outside, like a cafe, but surprisingly very big inside! The doors were open, but it was also a warm evening and we were seated kind of in the back of the restaurant close to the kitchen, so it was particularly hot and the air didn't circulate much back there.
The people who greeted us at the door and then to our seats were all very friendly, oriented us to the menu as we asked what was a popular dish they're known for. We were offered drinks promptly as our party slowly came in for a girls' night.
Our server (who I wish we actually got his name as he didn't introduce himself) was welcoming at first, but as the evening went on, his service just became even more and more disappointing. One of my girlfriends had requested to change what she had ordered only
minutes after he took our order; well he didn't seem too happy with that and made it seem like it was a lot of work to tell the kitchen to change it. From then on, we had very little interaction with him, he didn't come to the table frequently to check on us, and when he did, not even a smile or a small conversation with him came thru. He honestly seemed unhappy to be serving 6 lovely ladies! As we were paying our bill, he had quite the opportunity to strike up some friendly conversation as 4 out of the 6 of us needed to use the credit card machine, yet he watched quietly while each of them processed their bill and then for the 2 of us who paid with cash, he counted the cash right in front of us (kinda made us feel like - is he counting the cash right in front of us cuz we might jip the bill?!).
Anyways, as for the food, it was tasty. I did try the rotisserie chicken which is their specialty. But honestly, when the service is bad, hard to focus on the food itself..
Amazing food and service. Even though our server was busy at the beginning, we never had to ask for drink refills and he was always anticipated our needs. Usually I'm hesitant to order chicken when I go out because I'm afraid it will be dry, but this roasted chicken is so juicy ;)
We went for a girls night, but this is a perfect spot for a date.
Came here on a Sunday evening and it was a great experience, the setting is very nice with an interesting selection of seating areas both inside and outside each designed and I make the areas appear smaller and more private. The menu is very good with a nice selection of small and large plates. The food was well prepared with obviously fresh ingredients, good portion size and fair pricing. The reception is very welcoming and the wait and service staff were all friendly as well as highly professional. A very pleasant experience
