About Homer Street Cafe & Bar
LOCALLY MINDED. RESPONSIBLY RAISED
Housed in two of Vancouver’s most iconic buildings, Homer St Cafe and Bar is a contemporary restaurant set in the historic Homer Building and new Beasley building in Vancouver’s Yaletown district.
Classic comfort cooking takes center stage thanks to a fire engine red rotisserie that roasts all manner of proteins. It’s chicken that’s the star here: served in quarter, half or whole portions, accompanied by classic sides basted in jus.
A decidedly adventurous wine and cocktail list rounds out the menu. The restaurant features two spaces that consist of an open concept kitchen “Chef’s Bar” where one can get up close and personal with the culinary team, a semi private dining room with reclaimed factory windows, and bespoke seating complemented by antique tiling.

Homer Street Cafe & Bar Ratings and Reviews
The Homer Street Cafe is one of our favorite restaurants. The chicken is superb. Any of the entrees are excellent. My wife and I always look forward to our dining experience at this cozy , friendly spot. We love the food. We enjoy the ambience. I always thoroughly enjoy the dark beer with my dinner when we come here and my wife enjoys a glass of dry red or dry white wine with her dinner.
The food was well prepared and the menu thoughtful, good ingredients. The kitchen knows its skills and produce. Excellent value for money and and really cool space to hang out.
Now the problem: service was ok, but inconsistent. First course came instantly, actually before the drinks, then we waited, waited and waited, for the second. The server offered no explanation, apology, or an offer to see what the delay was. But were asked if we wanted more drinks! So, the front needs to match the good work of the kitchen in consistency and quality.
Really cool ambiance and vibe. Attentive and fast service, despite of being packed on Saturday night. Delicious, juicy, done-just-right chicken, possibly the best I've had locally (and I tend to only buy from organic free-range local farms). The noise level was high, which would not make it the best spot for a first date (unless you don't mind yelling at each other from across the table). All in all, a definite thumbs up! Will be back again to try more things off their rotisserie menu.
Homer St Cafe is absolutely amazing; the service is top notch, the food is timely and delicious and the atmosphere is wonderful. They play the greatest music and I've always had a great experience. The manager checked in on us to make sure everything was perfect and the attention to detail is unequaled. The perfect spot for a date night, a catch-up drink or a casual dinner to catch up with friends. Highly recommend, will definitely be going back!
My husband and I ate at Homer Street Cafe before going to a show. The atmosphere was fantastic: we loved the vibe and the interior. A very beautiful building! Our server was very attentive and ensured we always had everything we needed and that we were happy with our meals.
The food was perfect and decent sized portions! We ordered more than was necessary.
Our Caesar cocktails were delicious! Not made with Clamato juice.
I have now had three meals at Homer Street Cafe, and each was a wonderful experience. They are best known for their roasted chicken, and justifiably so--it is crispy on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. A 1/4 chicken is plenty. I also felt that the service was attentive without being overbearing. The recommendations of our waiter were spot on. I have sat on outdoor patio twice, and it is a very pleasant place to enjoy a meal and see Vancouver pass by. This is a very nice, very capable restaurant. The food is delicious without being fussy.
I've been to Homer St Cafe a few times and the food and service is always great. The only thing I wish can be improved on is air conditioner (if there is any). We were sweating while we were enjoying the food. The only spot that won't make us sweat is probably outside, but not everyone likes sitting outdoor.
The HSC&B is becoming my go to restaurant in Vancouver! Have been a few times now and had a great experience each visit. Sat on the patio; the beautiful evening enhanced the great service and delicious food. Supper was with another couple; we each had something different...all were very good...I had the roast pork > Fantastic!!
I emailed prior to making the reservation to ask when was "meatwave" which is a promo they have every last Friday of the month. They said it was the 25th, so I made the reservation then and stated it was for meatwave too. 2 days before ny reservation, i called to confirm it was for meatwave and they said yes. On the day of my reservation, they said they decided to move meatwave to the next weekend, and said they tried to call me though I didn't even get a voicemail. They didn't do anything to make it right or show any gesture that they were sorry. They didn't accommodate despite my efforts and despite my making a reservation for it a month before. I was just surprised that such a nice restaurant wouldn't even try to make it right with their guests. It was my first time here and though the place was nice, the disappointment has truly tainted my experience, and the lack of making up for it would not make me choose to go back.
Food was good but the place is a little bit noisy so it's hard to have a conversation. Also, there's 2 separate areas, and the area where we were seated was smoky (from the kitchen?). Not that I minded but just for people who might be sensitive, you can ask for a table at the main side of the restaurant.
