Homer Street Cafe & Bar
Housed in two of Vancouver’s most iconic buildings, Homer St Cafe and Bar is a contemporary restaurant set in the historic Homer Building and new Beasley building in Vancouver’s Yaletown district.
Classic comfort cooking takes center stage thanks to a fire engine red rotisserie that roasts all manner of proteins. It’s chicken that’s the star here: served in quarter, half or whole portions, accompanied by classic sides basted in jus.
A decidedly adventurous wine and cocktail list rounds out the menu. The restaurant features two spaces that consist of an open concept kitchen “Chef’s Bar” where one can get up close and personal with the culinary team, a semi private dining room with reclaimed factory windows, and bespoke seating complemented by antique tiling.

I love Homer Street Cafe!
Top notch, yet non-pretentious service, fabulous food, super charming ambiance.
Good experience, good food
Instead of the stress of executing a family dinner with all the trimmings, we made a reservation at Homer Street Cafe. I am continually amazed at how they create a relaxed upscale vibe and deliver such well executed thoughtfully conceived and prepared food. It was a great night and everyone enjoyed their meal. We also sampled the entire dessert menu and it was fantastic.
Nice ambiance but food and service has significantly gone downhill since a year a go. The eggs Benedict was heavily over cooked and the pastrami was bland.
The company was spectacular, but it takes that special place, service and ambiance to really make it all come together. I will become a regular.
One of the best places I’ve been to. Great service and food
Fantastic evening! Go for the family style - they just bring you what's fresh and good. We were stuffed, and everything they brought out was a home run. Great service as well. Highly recommend.
I will ask for a table upstairs next time where it is quieter. Why do people have to shout when they are having dinner? Loved the historic feel, our waitress was awesome, the food was terrific.
Great place. Seating near the door on Smithe was kind of cold, otherwise experience was great, as usual.
Very popular and busy location on the edge of Yaletown. Ambience can be very loud as tables are situated close to each other. We were seated (with a reservation) in the upper bar area. Not ideal for an intimate date night, and the wait staff are quite run off their feet to be super attentive. Having said that, the food is outstanding. The Steelhead trout I enjoyed was melt-in-your-mouth exquisite, served over cannellini beans and kale (a tad over-salted for my taste buds). The rotisserie chicken and orecchiette pasta (appropriately al dente), with arugula pesto dish was a hit with my date. We enjoyed some sides a la carte to share: chili garlic brussel sprouts and field mushrooms with herb vinaigrette, perfectly cooked and seasoned to perfection. I wish we saved room for dessert as they looked mouth-watering. Price is on the higher end, so we enjoy it as a treat for a date night. Will definitely return, but it would be nice to find a time or a table that wasn’t so noisy (if that’s possible). Perhaps the outdoor seating area? Will also try the brunch, which I’ve heard is equally outstanding.
We always enjoy going to the Homer Street Cafe. My wife is a bit more adventuresome than me. The chicken!! I can't get by the chicken . I always say next time... and maybe I will oh but the chicken! I know the chicken is excellent and that means that any of the restaurants' daily specials would be as good as my half of a chicken with roasted spuds..., an appetizer, a salad and a glass of stout Next time it will be...
Great food - but noticed this time that the portion sizes have been significantly reduced.
The four of us had a very pleasant experience yesterday, Thursday, October 3/19 at your restaurant, Homer St., Café.
Being in the senior category, we appreciated the renovations done to the interior part of the building and the consequent ‘vintage’-feeling atmosphere. We learned that the actual vintage part of the building is the corner entrance and the narrow part with open kitchen.
Great service and great food. Definitely recommend!!!
First time at restaurant and food was so flavourful and one of the best meals I have had
Excellent food, ambiance and service. Very good value. Ask about the reserviced decor!
We went to Homer Street Cafe before the Elton John Concert. They had Elton Tunes playing which helped set the tone for the evening. We tried the Pork Belly and it was AMAZING!!!!!!!
Great cocktails, really friendly staff, incredible atmosphere. Loved the decor and the glassware and the food presentation. A lot very detail-oriented people work together to make it an amazing dining experience. The lemon curd and the clover clubs were extraordinary.
Everything was good except the food was very slow to arrive....apples came quickly but not the entrees. Meant we had to rush to get to our show and no time for dessert. No apologies offered for the tardiness.
The cafe was super busy with diners who came before the concert at the Orpheum but that did not deter the fabulous staff here. Everything was served quickly and efficiently as always. The ambiance was electric and so totally fun. A wonderful night before a show as the Homer Street Cafe & Bar is our go-to place before an event. We love the food and of course, we were not disappointed this night - marvellous as usual.
Decor - tasteful
Pork belly - tasteless
Overall - Underwhelming
Great place to go and sit on patio. My only complaint was they couldn’t find my reservation I made through open table. Even after showing the confirmation. Luckily they were still able to accommodate us. Food was great. Will definitely come back.
The food was tasty and attractively presented - as is usual for this place. However our waiter Tyler really made the meal. Energetic, attentive, and eager to care for us. Exceptional.
Special, as per usual.
The chicken is amazing!!
Our food was incredible, especially the lamb shoulder, and our server, Letty, was very attentive and sweet.
We had a quiet table on the patio. Our server was great - fun, attentive but not intrusive. The food was amazing! Would definitely go again and highly recommend.
The consistency of this restaurant always amazes me. The food is fresh, tasty and well prepared, the hosting and service are efficient and friendly. Sitting on the patio was an added plus.
The only caveat here is some of the seating inside can be uncomfortable for seniors.
It is so wonderful to go to Homer Street cafe and Bar and have a great time, every time!
Last night was excellent!
The salad of the day and the scallop risotto .....yummy
Thanks so, so many staff members for the great service ( David, Rob, Roz, and Jodie!!)
Very accommodating when I had to call and bump my reservation 1/2 hour. Lovely patio table was provided. We had a few starter/noshy plates, which were delicious (LOVED the croquettes). I was expecting a more "basic" experience which a "Cafe & Bar" implies, but the high quality of the experience in every way made it a much more fine dining experience.
Amazing customer service from the hostess to the server! Food was absolutely amazing! I would highly recommend the harissa pulled chicken eggs Benedict!
Another fantastic meal. This time, brunch. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered. Service was impeccable.
We always have a good time at Homer Street Cafe. But perhaps because of the long weekend, it felt like they were short-staffed and service was lacking. The food took longer than usual and while the server offered complimentary bread to tie us over until the food arrived, it never materialized. The food was great as usual when we got it but it took another 15 minutes to get the bill after we asked for it.
Very well prepared roasted chicken and potatoes. Had tricolour beans, fries and a simple salad which were all delicious. Would go back there for sure.
Wonderful patio experience with delicious food and attentive service.
Lovely roast chicken and chips. Husband’s steak was very succulent. Have booked it again for our last night.
Excellent choice for a colleague's going-away dinner!
First time at this restaurant. Fantastic experience. Everyone really cares about getting it right. We loved the tasting menu. Best value in town.
