Homer Street Cafe & Bar
Housed in two of Vancouver’s most iconic buildings, Homer St Cafe and Bar is a contemporary restaurant set in the historic Homer Building and new Beasley building in Vancouver’s Yaletown district.
Classic comfort cooking takes center stage thanks to a fire engine red rotisserie that roasts all manner of proteins. It’s chicken that’s the star here: served in quarter, half or whole portions, accompanied by classic sides basted in jus.
A decidedly adventurous wine and cocktail list rounds out the menu. The restaurant features two spaces that consist of an open concept kitchen “Chef’s Bar” where one can get up close and personal with the culinary team, a semi private dining room with reclaimed factory windows, and bespoke seating complemented by antique tiling.

It was good. First time dinning - we have been for late happy hour a few times. Our server was not as on the ball as the folks we’ve have when up in the bar area. We will for sure be back soon but for the late happy hour.
Amazing food and service. Consistent quality and great interior design. This restaurant is a high recommend.
We had supper and then lunch as well, we were very impressed with the food and the service.
A restaurant the offers great food, and incredibly welcoming room.
Food was great and the service was friendly and caring. The steelhead trout was delicious and cooked perfectly. Background noise was a little hard on one of the people in our party who wears a hearing aid. I wouldn't classify this as a "quiet" restaurant but overall, the casual ambience was quite delightful.
Great place a must for me to go out and eat at. Have never been disappointed by the food or the service.
The roast of the day is awesome
Food is different and delicious. Staff very friendly and make you feel welcome. We did not drive this time but the selection of drinks is as interesting as the meal.
Great for after the game
I had brunch with a friend. I had omelette, which was okay and not very special, but friend’s food was not that great. The service we received was good though.
Never disappoints and always delivers of great value, service and delicious food!
Had a great time catching up with great food!
Our favourites disappeared from the menu. Alternatives were ok, but not memorable. Sides never arrived. Beautiful setting for a drink and snack, but I’d not have dinner again.
Food was good and enjoyed the experience. Although I felt a little rushed. Maybe the last sever was trying to get us in and out in the allotted 2 hours to turn over the table. It’s a bit of a turn off but I see more and more restaurants are doing this now.
Went here for lunch, great happy hour that starts at 2:30pm.
I would highly recommend- fantastic tasting food!
Made reservation. First visit on recommendation of family.
Felt rushed. Server very pleasant but hovered & interrupted on several occasions. Took a while to get food.
Asked for white chicken quarter but portion rec’d was very small with little white meat. Tasty but nothing special. Vslur for $??!
Rest of meal ok. Venue & decor very appealing. A bit loud-but was busy dinner hour.
Ill give it another go to see if my experience is more positive. Maybe try patio next time as it looked lovely!!!
Love this place! Food is always great ... creative, interesting and exceptionally well-prepared. Service was a little “over attentive”. We wanted to relax and enjoy our conversations but felt as though the staff wanted to turn our table over asap.
The service was fantastic. The best dish was the chickpea dip with taro and plantain chips. Sadly that was the only good thing we had. We heard so much about the chicken but it was average. Mushrooms were okay and the bread with marscapone and honey was over grilled. The cheesecake was definitely something I was looking forward to and it too fell short of expectations.
Service was excellent. The food was interesting and tasty but would have been exceptional if it was hot!
Great place for an uptown casual dinner!
Great brunch place with very good food and ambiance:)
Delicious as always! One of my favourite restaurants in Vancouver.
Our servers are always so kind and wonderful. Always top notch service in my opinion
My go to for amazing food and service
Went here for lunch with my family including my 86-year-old mother-in-law. They sat us on a long table with bench seating - not the best for our older guest. When the table filled next to us, it also got quite loud. To note, this seating was in a fun little nook that would have been fine for a younger group.
We then placed our order, only to find out that brunch was all that was served that day. It was Saturday. To be fair, we had a new waiter and he was very apologetic, but I was disappointed I didn’t see this noted anywhere when I made the reservation. The manager was also extremely apologetic and comped our desserts at the end of dinner. The brunch meals we ended with were all excellent, and the dining experience overall was a good one. and I would recommend this to others easily.
I had requested a seat in the lower section of the restaurant or perhaps the Chefs table overlooking the kitchen. I have frequent this restaurant a lot of the years so I know the areas I like to sit. I understand that requests can’t always be accommodated but some kind of recognition that I had made a request that couldn’t be accommodated would have been nice. Or offering us an option of seats instead of just ignoring my request and sitting us in the bar area. The entire restaurant is nice so sitting by the bar was “fine”, but it was a special night for us and the lower seating area was much more preferred. The food, service and drinks were all great. The seating put a bit of a damper on the evening.
Excellent meal and service. Charcuterie was phenomenal. Avocado and crab salad was excellent.
A friend recommended this restaurant. He said it was so good, they went back the next night to dine again. We may need to do the same.
My wife has special dietary requirements and they were very helpful in accommodating her and still provide a delicious meal.
Would have hoped my input of birthday would have promoted a better table than right beside the server station...
Our waiter was terrific and provided excellent drink recommendations.
Excellent as always!! Casual or celebratory, can never go wrong dining here!
I always choose to dine here when going to events downtown. The food is consistently high quality and very tasty. The ambiance is wonderful. I really enjoy being able to watch the meals being prepared. The staff is always friendly and helpful.
love the ambience and service at Homer St Cafe and perfect before theatre. Would like an expanded menu.. choices are a bit limited.
This was our second time at the restaurant and I think our first time was better, maybe because it was summer and we sat on the patio. We did have reservations, however our table was close to the bathrooms. We ordered caesars as our pre dinner drink. The actual drink was extremely spicy , but it was the garnish that was indescribable. I don't need to have an overly creative garnish but a piece celery that didn't wilt would have been nice. Its pretty sad when your husband has to ask what the garnish was...just saying.
Overall enjoyed our meal and dining experience. Good location and unique décor. Our server was excellent. Food was 3 out of 5 and took quite long to prepare.
Quality could be improved upon.
Nonetheless, I would return as the overall experience was good.
I made a reservation a month ahead for 5 pm on November 18 for 6. We arrived on time and were seated above the hostess table near the entrance. We were served waters and told we would need to be out by 8. No problem we said as we have a 8 ferry to catch. First waitress takes drink orders not informs us that it is the end of her shift. Drinks take 15 plus minutes to come. Next waitress takes our order. We ask for bread. Forgets. Table next to us arrived. Orders. Served before us. Time marches on. Second waitress leaves. Lovely man takes over and tries to pick up pieces. Two of us leave before dessert to get car so we are ready to leave by 6:50 to head for ferry. Not a good experience at all.
Made a reservation and had perfect seating for four people. And the service and the food was very quick. The wait staff were charming and thankfully didn’t tell me their names! I think the Homer St., Café is a perfect little spot to go… And thank goodness it’s not one of the chains. I’ll be back
Excellent value, good service, good food resulting in a comfortable non pretentious dining experience perfect for a regular choice in ones selection of establishments. Highly recommend.
Nice dinner before going to a performance at the QE Theatre. Great service and really appreciated the effort to provide a superb vegetarian option.
Lovely small place in an unassuming location. Great ambience for a relaxing enjoyable meal, although the 2 person tables are a bit close for real privacy. We did meet another nice couple heading to the same show though! Service and food were top of the line. Would love to see more BC VQA on their wine list. Overall an excellent experience and would certainly go there again!
