home/made kitchen brings something fresh to the table, literally. Many of our ingredients are sourced from organic, local, sustainable farms and everything is made in house. The result is authentic, inspired California cuisine.
Located at 337 Rheem Boulevard in Moraga, the café has opened with approximately 40 seats indoors and 40 seats outdoors. Breakfast is served all day, lunch in the afternoon, and packaged take away meals for dinner.

The owners, Gayle Somers and Aly Dean have over 40 years of experience between them in providing the best culinary experience from special events to private in home dining and corporate aviation catering.

Really enjoyed sitting outside ! Food was very tasty but my BLT was very sparse on the B and the T ...sandwich too small

Gayle is a kitchen wizard, using tried and true recipes from her favorite chefs as well as her own creations. Sourcing local products, her restaurant really shines and is hands down the best restaurant in Moraga.

The prefix dinners on Fridays are absolutely delicious and a very good value! You sure can't find that good of a deal for quality and value in the Walnut Creek or Lafayette food scene. It's nice not having to go to far living in the Lamorinda area.

We have dined here for breakfast and lunch and had a very good experience each time. The dinner experience was substantially below. The wait time for food was ridiculous and the salad entree were nothing special for the price. The entree was not warm and not very good. The dessert was fine. It was a very disappointing experience. Given the hour wait between salad and entree, it would have been nice to be comped for the wine. The server was trying her best, but there seemed to be lots of confusion in the kitchen.

The meal, as usual, was delicious. Everything cooked to perfection. Absolutely wonderful.

I must say, however, that the restaurant just isn't firing on all cylinders yet, and I hope it gets its act together before it goes down in flames. The service was terrible. We were there a full hour, and the only thing we had been served was our salad. When I asked for more bread, we were told they were running out of bread. The server took my plate because I was through with my meal, and asked my wife and I if we'd like our dessert served at the same time. My wife was still working on the last of her dinner when the dessert was brought out - with no forks - and he started taking away my wife's plate while she's still eating from it! Didn't ask if she was through. He just started clearing her plate! When she did finish and we were ready to start our dessert, I got up and grabbed a couple of forks myself, because Lord knows how long we'd have waited for our server to bring them. And the final straw - when he brought our check after ringing us up, he left the clipboard on the table without a pen to sign with. It was just unbelievable! This occasion was the worst, by far, but poor service seems to be a constant at this restaurant, at least at dinner. We have had much better experience at breakfast or lunch, but the dinner service leaves much to be desired. We can't help but think that the chef/owner is focusing so much on the details of the meal - which has always been stellar - that other important details, like the service, fall forgotten by the wayside. And that's sad, because we'd really like to see this place be a success! But, for my wife and I, that is probably the last dinner we will eat here.

Really good food......really terrible service! Our waiter had NO idea how to take a beverage order........it took him three attempts to correctly serve our drinks with a full 35 minutes of wait time, even after going inside and complaining after 20minutes waiting for service. Please get some waitstaff with some amount of previous experience........it really detracted from an otherwise pleasant evening ;-(

The dinner was almost $150 for chicken, zucchini, small salad, and a half peach.

Very disappointed in the service and extraordinarily overwhelmed with the bill. Last dinner with two of my daughters before one went off to CAL.

So expensive. Shocked.

Expected more.

The ingredients are fresh and the preparations are tasty. The name has "homemade" in it and indeed if your home's resident cook is really, really talented, the food here would seem homemade. However, most people would find that this is the homemade food of their dreams. Friendly service, cozy atmosphere, reliably good food. Oh, and did I mention fabulous baked goods, tea, & coffee service from 2-5 pm ? Yes !

Been here for lunch & brunch. Ambience is relaxed and low-key. Service staff are friendly and attentive. Muffins are fabulous--both assortment and flavor. The quiche is to die for!

I appreciate the heathy delicious food breakfast, lunch, and dinner! Friday night's dinner's are a real deal! The staff is very friendly. A great local place to go in the Lamorinda area. I'm lucky to live close.

Loved this place! Maybe I was just really hungry, but I thought the portions were small. The flavors and quality of ingredients were awesome. Fresh fruit was spot on and not the standard melon and grapes. Loved the 4 barrel coffee and the pastries are INSANE. Loved the nitrate free bacon. Outdoor seating is divine. Would definitely come back. Very attentive service.

I have brought friends here several times. They have been as impressed with the food, the excellent service and the surroundings as I. The menu specials are always worth trying. Desserts are not to be missed. The cookies are the best in town. Reservations should be made if you wish outside seating.

LOVE this place. We pop in about 2x per month with our kids for delicious, high-quality food, lovely house-baked pastries, and Four Barrel coffee. Unfortunately, their front-of-the-house is a mess. It looks like maybe nobody is in charge of the floor, or they might be too busy covering tables for a too-small waitstaff. Guests are often made to wait unacknowledged at the door while harried servers race past them without making eye contact. Quoted wait times are woefully off-base (and not in a good way), and service is just super inconsistent depending on who you get. I really wish they'd invest in a floor manager or more waiters to make this place shine like the 4/5-star place it really should be!

The.chili relleno eggs and scramble as well as iced tea and cappuccino were good. Outdoor seating is pleasant. Otherwise some issues. I made reservations on open table. Got to restaurant with reservations confirmed on my iPhone. They did NOT have my reservation listed. We waited 20 minutes for cappuccino and 45 minutes for food. Do NOT go if you have other plans for your day.
They need to improve getting orders to the patrons.

We had high hopes for dinner here. The staff couldn't have been nicer. However, the food for dinner was just plain not very good. The highlight of the meal was the delicious bread. The dessert flight was beautiful. The dessert was well beyond the rest of the meal. It was elegant and skillfully designed and executed. Very sorry to say this as the server was helpful and tried very hard to do everything right. It is my understanding that this is a great place for breakfast and lunch. From our experience their baked goods must be delicious. Best to stick to breakfast and lunch here.

I will give Homemade Kitchen a pass this time, but overall the food was way below par. Even the scattered waiter admitted the tenderloin was all overcooked. Very disappointing.

On several occasions, I've had out of guests, and took them there. They were always delighted.
I also go with my local friends quiet often. I found it is consistently delicious.

The Friday night three course Pre Fixe seasonal menus are superb! Great price, food, and service. Very fresh ingredients are prepared nicely and comforting. Portions are not wimpy and desserts are worth the trip alone.

Heard all about it, but it didn't live up to the rep. "house made" salsa was canned tomatoes, over-easy eggs cooked too long, coffee and hot chocolate not hot. No pancakes on weekdays, how hard can that be? Wanted to be impressed but just wasn't.

It was a disastrous night for the restaurant. It started off slow with our healthy but not so tasty arugula and apple salad. The wine list was minuscule and the wines they did offer were unfamiliar and not very good. An hour later and we were still sipping our complementary second glass of wine. Finally dinner was cancelled. The cook/chef was overwhelmed. We were the only ones waiting to be served. Another table left earlier. We saw them in a nearby restaurant we went to when we left. I hear breakfasts and lunch are better. They would have to be. Kids running around outside seemed to be enjoying themselves.

I had occasion to have lunch at home/made kitchen in Moraga some time ago.
Just wanted to say I had a wonderful lunch; the turkey club was outstanding.
Four Barrel coffee is possibly the best brew around, and their cowgirl cookie is special.
hmk is a charming space with a lovely patio for outdoor dining. I hope they can devise a
tent or cover outdoors for the cooler (wetter?) months.
Room for improvement-the servers did not acknowledge my OT VIP reservation!
I will, however, be back to try more on the small but thoughtful menu.

I've eaten here for lunch several times. This was the first time for breakfast. Their food has always been high quality with excellent taste. Our waiter this time I think was new and inexperienced. Other than that I would highly recommend them. You can't beat them for the quality of their food.
