Hom Wood Fired Grill, in Brookfield, serves modern American fare with a refreshing farm-to-table aesthetic, served in its rustic and relaxing restaurant. The crispy tater tots filled with gouda and white cheddar and served with bacon ketchup wood grilled jumbo chicken wings in the signature dry rub make sensational starters. Some of Hom Wood Fired Grill's specialty entrées include the cast iron wild mushroom polenta, the cumin coriander roasted chicken, the cornmeal crusted lake perch with homemade tartar sauce and the beef stroganoff with egg noodles and dill cream sauce, all of which are perfect with a craft beer or cocktail. It was a grreat experience. I'm sad to hear this location is closing for good today.
The food was excellent. Most times the service is spot on, though I think we had someone new on our last visit that may have been a bit overwhelmed. The noise was an issue, for when a group of 12 came in, the noise level more than doubled. We had the Friday fish specials and all we're very good, not greasy and generous portions.
Waitress Kim was an absolute pleasure. We bantered back and forth with her, and she handled our playful conversations cheerfully, tactfully and intelligently. Chicken dumpling soup was great. Meatloaf that 3 of us had was good... Not great. Salad greens in the bottom of the salads were not crispy... Suggesting they we prepared in advance. Half price bottle of wine was a good value. Would have liked a view of the Baseball game on TV... From the dining room, but they lost anyway. Kim helped make it s fun outing for us.
First time, all my friends enjoyed the food and are planning to return.
I liked dining at this restaurant back in March when I went there for the first time. The service was an abomination. It was slow, slow, slow. The first thing our waiter did was take away our bread plates and butter knives. We shared a roasted beet salad that was excellent. Then our waiter brought corn bread. (Remember, first thing he did when we did not order an appetizer was take away our bread plates. When our food finally did arrive, it was tepid. While arriving lukewarm, the food was good. I ordered the wiener schnitzel. The spaetzle with cabbage mixed in was delightful.
Granted this was a Friday night but the place did not seem to be slammed. Either this waiter was not particularly well trained, or he was clueless about rendering service, or something needs to be done about the training at HÖM. I can't remember the last time I left a tip for less than 20%, so this was a first in a few years.
I wish there was a healthier choice for appetizers. Something not deep fried or dairy.

Three of us ordered the beef roast. one was complete fat ,one was two thirds . The other one was just OK however, portion size was very small I was very disappointed. The one plate that was almost all fat was changed out to a plate that look pretty good wish I had gotten it. For the price. Shameful

It was the first time we had tried HOM since the name change. My salad was limp and drenched in dressing. It only contained field greens and nothing else - no other veggies. The pork snitzel lacked flavor and was tough. My husband had the ribs which he said were very good. I will choose better next time - if we every go there again.

I celebrated my birthday here with my family, notoriously bland and picky eaters who do by like trying new places, and they loved it! They never love anything. I, on the other hand, enjoy new places and new food and this place delivered. Bison Chili, awesome. Best Beef Roast hands down. Best Crab Cakes I've had in this state! The chicken wings (appetizer) isn't anything to write home about, but the full meals got gold stars from my group.
Very friendly and knowledgeable waitstaff. The food took a long time to arrive, but it was well worth it.
Price-wise, I'd say it's pretty standard for a place like this ($14 burgers), but it is a little inflated on some items. The 8 oz steak seemed overpriced, but then again, I didn't taste it. It could be totally worth it.
As usual, the worlds best cheese curds did not disappoint. Love that they are on the happy hour menu, but sad that they took away the buffalo curds. I gave only 4 stars for food because of the tots, they were soggy and gross.
This was our first time at the HOM in Brookfield. We had several good meals and a FABULOUS wedding rehearsal dinner at the HOM in Bayshore, and were equally impressed with the Brookfield location. It's now added to our list of places to take out-of-town company.
All was good, wait staff, food, ambiance , couldn't ask for more. Pot roast was awesome, looking forward to coming back, very soon.
Have been to Hom before and it continues to be a very enjoyable time. Great food and service, Daniel, was very attentive. Would recommend for a special night out, or just to go have a good meal with good service.
Hom is one of my favorites in the area and we have been many times. The menu is fantastic and is all local/regional offerings. Never had a bad dish at the restaurant.

You MUST try the tator tots appetizer:)! And the French onion soup was loaded with flavor...and cheese! After those items, I wanted something lighter for dinner. The fabulous server suggested a simple chopped salad topped with slices of steak, grilled to a perfect medium rare. And it was perfect!

Duck was absolutely fabulous. But, was disappointed in the fish fry. Last year during lent we went there and they had an EXCELLENT spotted cow beer batter. Now they use a basic breading. Disappointed with that.
The blandest food I've ever paid for.Evidently their farm does'nt grow onions,garlic or herbs. We were truly disappointed with our meal,and so were other tables.We heard some fairly loud complaints.I ordered Scampi and was served meatloaf.Had to wait for the correct meal to be made while my dining partners food got cold.We did'nt care for the southern chain gang prison like surroundings in the side dining room in which we were seated.
Greeted and seated promptly. Nice variation of menu. Something for everyone, though not over whelming. Had the chartreuse plate as an appetizer, though when served did not explain what was on plate, we asked after we nearly ate it all - so yes, it was good. Dinner was a spinach salad and my date had the fish special. Both were enjoyable.

We were celebrating a graduation. They confirmed they were able to provide the special requests noted on opentable. The service was very attentive, without being annoying. Diverse food choices so that everyone was pleased.
The first time we visited, the food was awesome, but it has deteriorated each time since. Also, the ripped cushions on the seating is really ugly in an establishment striving for the type of image that you appear to be going for. The menus looked like they were printed at home and just in nasty shape, again, expect better from such an establishment.
My experience was just ok. Over priced for plate portions. Seats in booth were torn and unappealing.
The prime rib was very good, but the schnitzel was awful. It was more like a breaded pork chop than pork schnitzel. It was our Anniversary and I stated this on the reservation, yet noone acknowledged at the restaurant.
Service was decent but food was mediocre and overpriced. My mashed potatoes were cold so they brought me different ones that still weren't hot! Good thing I'm not picky I just like to say something so the kitchen has room for improvement. Server was very nice and offered us a free dessert for our inconvenience. We wouldn't go back.
We were very impressed with Hom. The atmosphere was wonderful. We were able to carry on a conversation without straining to hear each other. Loved the lighting, it made the space feel very intimate. The service was top notch. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly but didn't intrude. As for the food, it was excellent. As foodies, we often leave restaurants feeling we could have had a far better meal at home. This was not the case at Hom. Our meals were delicious. There were levels of flavor in each bite. Our fish was done to perfection. We will be back to try other items on the menu and have already recommended Hom to friends.
We love HOM restaurant but the overall experience this time was disappointing. First they took off the fillet from the menu and this was my son's favorite item on the menu. I had the baked cod which was very tasty but was cold and the Cole slaw wasn't even tasty. The fries were awesome but recommend a separate plate for them with the baked cod as they did get soggy. Our waters were never refilled during our meal and we were never asked if we wanted another cocktail. We are regulars here and usually have 4 -6 in our party. Not sure when we'll be going back... 😔
The service was good. Good was not as good as expected. They say everything is grown in Wisconsin and fresh. It did not seem as fresh.
The options were exquisite and quite different from most you would find on any other restaurants menu. The execution of those items were fabulous as well.
