I had the seafood risotto and was very disappointed.
Food was good. Service was meh. Server was friendly but would disappear. Didn’t check how any of food was, brought check and didn’t return for 15 mins. I had to go to him to give him check. Everyone has a bad day, so we would try again.
All 4 meals were very good.Our server was good and had a good sense of humor. They also had corkage for $20. Ready to go back.
A very good selection of varied dishes. Excellent idea to be able to select from two diverse menus. We were very surprised at the lack of background noise. Thanks fur a delightful experience.
Made a reservation for Valentine’s Day. Arrived at restaurant and there was nobody at hostess station so had to wait to be greeted. Was seated in a room where tables were on top of each other even though place was dead. Waitress took 15 min to greet us and offer a drink. Ordered 8 oz filet and was the worst most tasteless steak ever. Sent it back was not offered any replacement. Then waited for waitress to come back for another drink, which took forever. Finally asked for bill and filet was on bill. Asked waitress about it and she stated “oh mgr should have removed it”. Manager never came over to apologize for all the hassle. Worst run restaurant we have ever been to! No wonder place was dead! Called next day to speak to a manager, and was told a manager would call me. Still no call!! Obviously lack of customer service is taught from top down! Save you money and time, and visit Gibson’s, Perry’s, or Capital Grill where food and service are important!!
The food was delicious and the service by Susan was great! I had the scallops with quinoa, butternut squash, and cranberries that was delightful. My husband had tuna and he loved it. And the homemade cappuccino chocolate chip ice-cream was amazing! Loved the whole meal. Will definitely be back!

Food was good, but not great. Very expensive. Wine list was just OK and very expensive, as well. Nice decor and very conversation friendly.
Mussels did not seem fresh, fish was dry and the service was distracted. Good location and pleasant hostess.
We were looking for a place for an early dinner Friday after shopping at Yorktown. Holy Mackeral was a great find. The food was excellent, the service was exceptional and it was nicely quiet so we could have a conversation.
Everything was great! The maitre’ d seated us and handled our drinks as our server was detained at another table. Our sever arrived and was pleasant thereon. The food was absolutely wonderful and we liked that we were able to order from Holy Mackeral and the adjoining Harry Caray’s menus. We will definitely return!
loved Tuna appetizer and scallops as my meal. very nice quite place with classic design. alcohol is a little overpraised. for example glass of wine is about $13,
We reserved a table at Holy Mackeral. The restaurant was empty; we were directed to Harry Careys next door, no problem. We ordered from the Holy Mackeral menu, no problem. The appetizer was Ok. the entrees were both so-so. The side of potato hash contained rare potatoes, not uncommon, just under cooked and the kale was OVERcooked. The service was very good, but the whole dinner was a flop. Just bad timing I guess, but with only a few diners ( should have been no angst in the kitchen), coupled with the prices, I expected more than so-so or less food. As nice as the place seems, I will be dining elsewhere for the foreseeable future.
I booked this restaurant for a Saturday dinner with friends. I booked the reservation only 2 days before. However, when We arrived at the restaurant, the doors were locked and the restaurant was closed. We went to the adjoining Harry Carry's restaurant and inquired about the restaurant, and were told it was closed. Closed because of lack of customers 'for the evening'. Not a good sign on a Saturday night. Our dinner at Harry Carry was OK, and were were able to order off the Holy Mackerel menu. But they made the wrong fish dish...Food was OK. I would hesitate to return, since there was not any warning that it was going to be closed.....
First time visiting Holy Mackerel and it was fantastic. I sampled 3 different oysters, wish they were labeled when they arrived because there was one that I fell in love with. I am ordered the seafood risotto and it was good balance of rice and seafood. My mother had the swordfish and she was more than pleased. We made the mistake of ordering the fish tacos as an appetizer and though it was delicious we quickly realized Holy Makerel offered generous portions so we ended up taking home some risotto and swordfish. All in all, great atmosphere, great food and our waiter was attentive but not smothering. Perfect dinner night.

Food was good., service was good. Not crowded for a Saturday night. Lots of people cut through the restaurant from the adjoining Harry Carey's which would be annoying if you are seated right by the walk way.
Music was very low key. Quiet night in the restaurant but bar was active. Easy to talk and enjoy the atmosphere. Food was great but a bit over priced. Amazing find as the restaurant was not busy. Everything around the area was booked. We will definitely go back again.
Went there with a party of 10 for Mother's Day. Service was great. Attentive, answered all our questions, and our waitress was very patient since my family can be a lot to take in at times. Food was average at best for the prices. All the protein was probably frozen, did not taste very fresh. I expected more for that atmosphere.
We had a server that did not want to be a server. Wrong drink order, can't find the server and nobody in our area. Food was not what we were use too. We will not be going back to this location. Manager check on us once but they (manager and server) seem to walk away from table as they talk -
Don't go to Holy Mackerel if you want a nice, quiet relaxing dinner.
Holy Mackerel was one of my favorite restaurants. The food is excellent and the ambiance is great. However, management has decided to crank up really horrible music. It is not relaxing dinner music, it is really bad music. And it is SO LOUD. People eat out to talk and enjoy great food. They don’t want to yell over bad music. Soft dinner music could be acceptable.
I was there a couple of months ago and we left without dessert or coffee because were tired of trying talk over the music. I was there again recently and the music was still cranked up.
What a shame that some manager, who has a distorted view of what people want when they eat, has ruined one of the best dining experiences .
Nice ambiance, friendly and knowledgeable staff, seated immediately, delicious food, ample menu selections and very reasonably priced. Will definitely be returning!
I loved the food It's absolutely amazing
Excellent food; well prepared. Portions are very large, including the appetizers. The only minor negatives were that most selections had some variation on cream sauce and the piped-in music was a bit loud. Not that cream sauce was bad but it would have been good to have a few more lighter choices. Prices are on the high side but the value is also. Definitely recommended.
Holy Mackerel had zero clients, and we were taken to the Harry Caray place next door... service was "ok", the menu was the Harry Caray menu.. I am not sure I would go there again on a week day..
They do have some great food here, but the service is not great. When your server is around, their service is excellent, proficient and friendly. The problem is that they're gone for long periods of time. Where do they go? Do they have to work the Harry Caray's side? If so, on a Saturday night, that seems inexcusable.
Great selection of sea food. The rock shrimp potatoes were a great appetizer. Our waitress, Jamie, was great.
The fish and sauces were great and the staff wpnderful
Overpriced and although a cold night we had to wear our coats because the tempature in restarauraunt was also cold.
I ordered the salmon and it was raw. My husband ordered the chicken Alfredo. It looked like chicken Alfredo soup. Just horrible. I would never ever go back to this restaurant.
Enjoyed being able to order from menus from Holy Mackerel and Steakhouse. Great for people who are not in to seafood but still want the quieter atmosphere that Holy Mackerel has to offer.

We had breakfast. I tried the mushroom skillet and my wife created an omelet. Food was good. Service was on point. Will return.

The food is great. You can order from the Holy Mackerel menu or the Harry Carey menu.
The ambiance is very comfortable.
The problem is the noise. They play horrible music at a very high level. Everyone is leaning across the table trying to be heard over the blaring music. I asked the waitress if she could turn down the music. She talked to the manager and it was turned down for a while. It was then cranked back up again. It ruined the get together and dining experience.
I won't go back again. I might go to the Harry Carry side. The last time that I was there, the was no noise (music??) blaring.
People go to dinner to eat and TALK. They don't want to hear bad music blaring. Even if it were good music. it is too loud.
The staff was wonderful, they were very pleasant and kind. It was our 45th anniversary and the flowers were beautifully done. We had a wonderful time. Go Cubs we are life long cubbies fans also⚾️Marjorie and Michael Clegg. Thank you again for a wonderful time.
Visited on a Saturday night. Although this is a seafood restaurant in name, they also offer the option of the specials from the adjoining Harry Cary steakhouse. Excellent service and great food

Marked the Special Occasion box with Spouse Birthday. Nothing was ever said. Busman only filled the water once. My glass was nearly empty half way through the meal. Busman brought bread, but no butter. When I requested the butter he returned with butter and said nothing. My wife had to ask the hostess/ manager for more attention from the server. The server returned and advised that the hotel had booked some 400 rooms for a convention. That didn't have anything to do with the service. Yes, it was probably busier than normal, but that is the service industry. Proper staffing, including the restaurants, when a hotel is busy is a must. We actually requested our check and left without ordering dessert or coffee.
