Food was good, service was great, staff was willing to customize the cocktail menu for us
Server was wonderful. Aside from that very overpriced. The sea bass was very bland. Tiny piece on top of a huge portion of rice. Huge rip off. Clam chowder was barely 1/4 cup with a bit of celery and potatoes. Again, rip off. The steak came out, had no asparagus on it and was undercooked. I don’t usually give a restaurant a negative review but this one was a huge rip off.
Good food, good drink, great service, great environment for conversation.
We met for breakfast and were so impressed with the food and service we will definitely consider going back! Breakfast choice were wide and met everyone’s needs! I had the egg white omelet and it was delicious!
Outstanding food and service!
We had a lovely New Years Eve dinner before a movie. Everything was just great from the wine to the oysters to the beautifully prepared fresh fish. Our server was just perfect - he knew we had to leave by a certain time and he kept everything moving. We never felt like we were rushed or afraid we would run out of time.
Highly recommend this restaurant!
BTW - you can also order from the Harry Caray’s Italian Steakhouse menu so you really have a lot of choices!
Food was great and service was excellent. We will definitely come back.
We were the only patrons that night and Jorge was our waiter. He was very fun and friendly with lots of good food suggestions. We were hoping to eat somewhere where it was quiet so we could talk to our friends without yelling over loud music and louder patrons. It was a perfect evening.
The food and service were both wonderful. We had a nice family dinner and all received exactly what we wanted. While most of us didn't have leftovers we all left full and happy with our meals. Thanks again we will definitely be back. I have already made the suggestion to a few friends as well!!!
Absolutely delicious! The service was impeccable and the food as outstanding! Will be returning often!
Thank you for the excellent food and service. Everything was wonderful.
We got our drinks right away then ordered bruschetta as an appetizer. It took 20 minutes to get. Of course they wanted us to get more 12 dollar drinks while waiting. I ordered STEAMED lobster. Our entrees came while we were still eating the appetizers. My lobster was obviously not steamed but rather broiled to the point of the shell being burnt. Completely dried out. The claws were not cracked and only a small cracking tool was given. I won’t go on
Great thing about Holy Mackerel is that it's 2 restaurants in one...with access to the full Harry Caray menu as well. Between the 2 there is something for everyone. It does a decent job of being more than just a hotel restaurant, so much so that we do think of it as a "real" restaurant.
The vacant bar upon entering is a real turn off. The menu felt more limited than usual. Food was good but wish there had been more choices. Service was excellent. Love that it is so quiet but it feels like a dying restaurant.
Everything was outstanding!! The food, service, ambiance were all exemplary! We are looking forward to going back with our families!
The food was excellent. The service requires improvement. My server was allergic to seafood and was working in a seafood restaurant! Thankfully we sat in a back dining room as the music in the bar was VERY loud.
Only offered breakfast for Mother’s Day. Had New Orleans omelette. Veggies and andouille sausage were not very warm. But sauce was great to spice it up.
This is one of two restaurants within the Westin hotel. While this more quiet restaurant features fish the other restaurant is a loud an Italian meat mostly sports bar restaurant. While it is quite novel that you can order from either menu the experience was not that pleasant. The food was just average and the atmosphere was that of a busy hotel. Just not what my wife and I were looking for.
Service was awesome! Food decent. Price not surprising...fair. Disappointed that I had to constantly swat away a gnat while attempting to eat my dinner. Nice small venue with attentive service.
Crab and Brie dip was outstanding. Wonderful flavor! Fishermans stew was delicious as well as the seafood risotto. Would definitely return.
Very nice menu and restaurant. Food and presentation was excellent.
We celebrated Valentine's Day at Holy Mackerel and were very happy with our experience. It was our first visit to this restaurant, so we weren't sure what to expect. We were surprised to see that the Harry Caray's menu was available as well as the Holy Mackerel menu. We decided to stick with seafood, and my husband ordered fish 'n chips. He pronounced Holy Mackerel's version to be a cut above the usual fish 'n chips at other restaurants. I ordered the shrimp ravioli and requested pesto sauce in place of alfredo sauce. After checking with the chef, the server agreed to the substitution, and the result was delicious. My husband had key lime pie for dessert, which he thought was delicious, and I had decaf cappuccino. Surprisingly, the restaurant was not very busy, and we had a quiet table by a window that was perfect for conversation. We will definitely return!
New Year’s Eve family dinner
Really enjoyed it! Not your typical choices, which I appreciate.
Great great food!
Poor food selection, overpriced, $38 lobster was tough and wasn’t even served with anything! Very disappointing. Our waiter was very nice and very attentive, but we won’t go here again.
Food was excellent, seating arrangements were perfect, and John, our waiter, was outstanding!
Server was great, food was mediocre at best. My fish was dry and over cooked and my mashed potatoes were cold. My partners baked potato was brought out ahead of his entree, we asked them to bring it with his steak and it appears they just let it sit in the kitchen as it was also cold when they brought it back. They were not crowded either. Very disappointing and would not recommend.
Food definitely not worth it for the price. Not saying it was bad, but not worth 90 bucks for two people at all - more like 30. The service was also pretty bad as we saw a waiter spill a beer on his tray, have some of it land on a customer's back and just walked away without saying anything. Much better places of similar price nearby no reason to go here.
Despite the last minute no-shows, the setting was AMAZING! The staff was kind and very accommodating. The food was SUPERB and worth the drive. I was a guest at the hotel the weekend I attended. I plan to visit more often.
Seafood risotto was excellent; creamy and with nice depth of flavor. Shrimp was super fresh. Tiramisu very good, but lose the inelegant chocolate syrup. Perfect service tonight.
This visit to Holy Mackerel was good, maybe not as good as past experiences. The tuna dish my husband got was amazing! He loved it! My mom and I got 2 different citrus salmon dishes. Both a little disappointed that it was lacking in citrus flavor. Our waiter told mom that she needed to squeeze the lemon on her fish for the citrus flavor...(Really?) Someone else stopped by(manager??), very nice and checked in and brought us additional citrus sauces for both salmon dishes. Mine was good, not amazing. Both desserts were amazing! The overall experience was good, not great as in the past. Received an email from open table saying they were sorry to hear we were a no show. I had to follow up with details proving that we were there. I believe because the restaurant wasn't busy, the man who checked us in and seated us didn't actually check us in. All is well, all got straightened out! We will go back but not sure if we will take guest there again.
This was my first visit to Holy Mackerel. The food was very good, and the waitstaff and management were very accommodating for our group of 12 (including 5 children). I particularly like that, not only could we order off of the Holy Mackerel menu, which in itself offered many attractive options, but could also order off the menu of Harry Caray's restaurant, which adjoins Holy Mackerel. This provided a very wide variety of food choices for everyone, especially since you could order off both menus. We will definitely add Holy Mackerel to our list of preferred restaurants.
The food was awesome.
We enjoyed our dinner and the customer service provided my our waitress.
Expensive and disappointing. I don't typically post reviews of any kind, but I felt compelled to offer feedback for lovers of seafood. Try Seasons 52 instead.
I had the seafood risotto and was very disappointed.
Food was good. Service was meh. Server was friendly but would disappear. Didn’t check how any of food was, brought check and didn’t return for 15 mins. I had to go to him to give him check. Everyone has a bad day, so we would try again.
All 4 meals were very good. Our server was good and had a good sense of humor. They also had corkage for $20. Ready to go back.
A very good selection of varied dishes. Excellent idea to be able to select from two diverse menus. We were very surprised at the lack of background noise. Thanks fur a delightful experience.
Made a reservation for Valentine’s Day. Arrived at restaurant and there was nobody at hostess station so had to wait to be greeted. Was seated in a room where tables were on top of each other even though place was dead. Waitress took 15 min to greet us and offer a drink. Ordered 8 oz filet and was the worst most tasteless steak ever. Sent it back was not offered any replacement. Then waited for waitress to come back for another drink, which took forever. Finally asked for bill and filet was on bill. Asked waitress about it and she stated “oh mgr should have removed it”. Manager never came over to apologize for all the hassle. Worst run restaurant we have ever been to! No wonder place was dead! Called next day to speak to a manager, and was told a manager would call me. Still no call!! Obviously lack of customer service is taught from top down! Save you money and time, and visit Gibson’s, Perry’s, or Capital Grill where food and service are important!!
