In 2008, Holeman and Finch Public House opened for business and began serving casual, approachable fare with a sophisticated slant. The menu is driven by Chef Linton Hopkins’ signature all-from-scratch approach, as well as his passion for vegetables. The restaurant, which promotes a sense of community with its kitchen nook-style seating and convivial ambiance, offers a continually changing menu in accordance with the year’s seasons and area farmer’s harvests, along with a dedicated parts menu honoring whole animal cookery.

At first, wasn't sure what 'community tables' were all about when I made the reservation, but we did end up getting a private table.

Deviled eggs - at first glance, they all looked the same, but each was deliciously different.
Crunchy Gentleman - delicious, but essentially a fancy ham and cheese sandwich.
Burger was amazing - as everyone already said!

I needed a place that was open late since it was a 10:00 dinner on a Saturday night. They advertise that they are open until midnight and last call is 30 minutes after closing. Unfortunately, we felt rushed to get out, lights came on before midnight, defeated the purpose of why I selected H & F. Food was very good and I would surely go back for the food, however, on this occasion, they did not live up to their advertised hours of operation.

Great atmosphere. The soft shell crab appetizer was great. The burger was very good too. The entree menu was simple but plenty of starters to choose from.

1] We made the reservation on Open Table and almost immediately got a call from them that there would a delay as a party arrived late, our seating would be delayed. This courtesy was excellent and we delayed our arrival. They kept a table for us and we were seated immediately. Excellent example of customer care!
2] The food was excellent!
3] The service was excellent. Great suggestions and service.
4] The drinks were excellent - the bar deserves its reputation.

My wife and I were in town for a show and stopped by. We arrived early and went to the bar to have a cocktail before dinner. Drew was attentive and very helpful when taking our order and making our drink. Our transition to the table was effortless and Katie did a great job getting us started.
The soft shelled crab was unusually fresh by Atlanta standards and cooked perfectly! The fried oysters came with fried pickles and a remoulade that rivaled the best in New Orleans. I can't wait until my next trip to Atlanta to try other menu options. A+ on all levels!

I was going to be dining alone so i sat at the bar. Fantastic and knowledgeable bartender and she made one of the beat Manhattans I’ve ever had. She knew the menu and was spot on in her suggestion of the patè. Another bartender suggested the famous burger and i ordered it. A really good burger, but not life changing!

Food was great and so was the service. The only surprise was how tight the restaurant was - not a lot of room to move through the tables.

Holeman and Finch used to be our favorite neighborhood spot. No more. The menu has changed and is no longer unique. The fried oysters were more over-breaded topping than oyster. The once outstanding pate, served in a small jar with a gelatin topping, is now just a slice from a loaf of pate similar to something I can buy at Whole Foods. When I asked for a to-go box for remaining pate, I requested a few extra toast points. I was told there would be an extra charge for that. Really? A charge for one small slice of bread cut into quarters? Is Linton Hopkins faring poorly? Does he need alms for bread. Good-bye Holeman & Finch. We used to love you. No more.

Always good food and drinks; the seating was a little tight, but service was excellent. Found the deviled eggs a bit salty, but the cornbread is amazing. Can't go wrong with the burger. Overall, I love the vibe at Holeman and Finch!

We went at 7:45 on a Sunday and the menu only had two entrees, and a number of dishes were 86ed. Food took a long time, and when it was time for dessert, the server just brought our check and told us the kitchen was closed; no warning, no nothing. This was at 8:30, and the table next to us had JUST placed a dessert order. Plan your outing accordingly.

We started out with an order of fried oysters which was enough for two. My husband had a vegetable plate and I had the famous hamburger. Both were delicious. The sticky toffee for dessert was out of this world.

My only criticism would be to have the back area more open rather than the windows being covered and the booths being so high that you could not see into the restaurant.

Our server, Opeyemi, was attentive and described the dishes well.

For all the hype surrounding the burger, it didn't quite live up to the expectation I'd set. It was REALLY great, don't get me wrong! But I guess I just had it really built up in my mind from everything I'd heard. Still would highly recommend! The waitress recommended the bone marrow which was different and phenomenal! We wouldn't have tried it if she didn't recommend it. Glad she did. Overall a wonderful experience!

I went with a vegetarian friend. He inquired about the vegetable plate and was told it was cooked in beef fat. He then asked the server about an alternate preparation and was told that was the only way it came and there were no vegetarian alternatives. He had to order the carbonara with no egg or bacon. When he then inquired about a side of vegetables to order with his plain pasta he was told that wasn’t an option. This is absolutely unacceptable for a restaurant of this caliber to not offer any vegetarian entree or to be willing to accommodate a vegetarian request.

The food was great but I think the waiter forgot he had a table! We ordered wine and they didn’t come back until we were halfway done with dinner. Shame on you for poor service. Another waiter had to take over so we weren’t really sure who our server was? Then he came back and didn’t even know that we had dinner. A little disorganized

Visiting Atlanta for the first time in 8 years we returned to Holeman and Finch for a friend’s birthday. We started off with happy hour $1 oysters which was a mind blower for the west coasters who rarely pay less than $3 a pop!. The Charcuterie and cheese course was very good, we tried 8 different items among the 5 of us. The mains were quite good and the desserts were well done. The wine list isn’t as extensive as I’d like but we powered through several bottles.

Great service, I hope it isn’t 8 years before I go back!
