We had around 4 separate servers we interacted with and all of them were utterly delightful, charming and friendly. It was booked as an anniversary and birthday meal and was supposed to be in the terrace. The weather was pretty dreary so they moved us inside, which initially I was a bit disappointed (about the weather not them) but it was such a lovely atmosphere and a beautiful room. The food was amazing. The bread was out of this world and the scotch egg starter I could have stopped and gone home happy right there! Portion sizes were very reasonable for this type of restaurant and every element was cooked beautifully. We shared a pud coz we were pretty full and glad we did as that was also a good size, though not overwhelming I must add.
I treated my husband to one of their special whiskys and I'm so pleased I did as the service that went with it was also top notch.
It was the perfect way to celebrate and just a glorious return to a restaurant after such a crazy year.
Set within the beautiful Rosewood hotel, the dining room transports you to a world of elegance and old fashioned charm. The decor immediately makes you feel like a VIP as well as the greeting and service you get. Yesterday the restaurant was quite busy and it was wonderful to see a world that was a little glimpse of what it was like pre pandemic and what I hope the world will be shortly again. We all went for one of the pies as this is the speciality and boy did they not let us down with that! You must have it with the truffle fries. Drinks were fantastic too - started with champagne and then on to a wonderful white wine. My only negative feedback would be a) there was quite a delay getting our first drink and b) the sharing platter of meats to start had a tiny pot of chutney and a small amount of wafer thin bread. Apart from that no issues and I’ll be back again and again
Excellent food, good service and loved the setting
Good restaurant food is good
The place is peaceful, very nice location but the cars in the parking were noisy as they were all posh cars, very nice to look at but very noisy.
The service and staff was kind but the food wasn’t tasty at all, too oily and the steak wasn’t good! I would say that we were in a nice restaurant in the city. My friend and I were disappointed ☹️ especially because it was my bday so I was expecting to have a nice and tasty meal. I don’t mind to pay of the food is good but for the 120£ we spend only for bread, a glass of wine and a steak (no dessert, coffee, bottle, starter) it was expensive.
I would recommend it unfortunately but location is pretty
Service was impeccable. We had a young lady who was so friendly but also so ontop of various allergies. Superb. Food was pretty solid.
Nice restaurant, staff friendly.
Went for the pies and didn’t disappoint
Chicken and chestnut mushroom pie was the perfect and traditional, but if you’re looking at experimenting then the curried mutton is the one for you!
Good food but not quite there for the price they are charging. Service left a lot to be desired
Staff were friendly and efficient, decor v attractive. Somehow we ran up a large bill! Food was very good though.
This was a pre birthday reservation for our daughter’s 18th birthday. The staff and service was amazing, probably one of the best, if not THE best service we’ve experienced. Food was great, ambience great, loved the surroundings even though there was a small wedding reception going on in the Courtyard, the noise was minimal. The staff especially (Schuen?) very knowledgeable regarding the history of the Dining Rooms. All the staff were very attentive to our table the whole time. Thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.
Hugely disappointing- from the limited menu, quality of food and casual approach to service in a restaurant that was all but empty. Has a high opinion of itself and prices to match. I will not return.
Amazing place. Would definitely recommend and will definitely return.
Excellent service and setting. Felt the food was a tad miserly (small tomato, one mushroom, one sausage). Would go again, but how about a bit more on the plate. didn't feel like a "full" English, more a 2/3s!
Special occasion to celebrate friends birthday
A wonderful place for a light lunch and dinner! 😊
Thank you so much for making me feel special on my birthday with my birthday dessert
We have been multiple times post reopening. Must be hard work for the team to be running inside and out, but thank you for the terrific food an experiences.
We were a bit disappointed with the food but maybe more so by the service. The service in the restaurant was a bit robotic. We found out about Sunday roasts from overhearing the waitress introducing to the guests at the next table. We weren’t offered any bread either…all in all a disappointing dinner although drinks earlier at the terrace was nice and we were served by Anna who was friendly and attentive.
I think this was over priced for what it was. However the location and ambiance was lovely. Also not enough vegie or vegan options.
Gorgeous restaurant but the food is mediocre, bland and overpriced.
Beautiful building and restaurant and the service was impeccable. However, the seating / tables did not feel COVID secure, as another table was seated within half a metre of us....
Nice decor and service was great, well attended but menu was small and food didn’t really wow us
Lovely food and service. It’s so nice to be out again and taken Carr of by professionals!
Food was bland, not enough choice and way overpriced! £24 for a hamburger?? Rip off and won’t be returning!
Great for big meat lovers not so for girls lunch but did find the food we had was delicious.. could do with little
Delightful evening as always with great food, venue and drinks
Delicious food & excellent wine! Great place to dine as we emerge from Lockdown!
Great service and great food - a great evening in a lovely setting
Great food and drinks in a really nice location. Service was really friendly. Would definitely come back.
Outstanding food and service. Highly recommended, excellent atmosphere.
Very good food with good service
The food was delicious! Sunday roast was amazing and good value for the money. Their pies and scotch eggs were incredible. Will definitely come back!
Great food great service good value lovely atmosphere staff very friendly and helpful they were knowledgeable regarding the menu. Food was stunning there was something for everyone.
The best pie I have ever eaten, superb, cannot recommend highly enough, finished the evening with cocktails in scarves next door, life just doesn’t get any better.
Nice ambience, but a little expensive for the portion sizes.
We enjoyed the dining experience and could not find fault with the service .Would maybe have enjoyed more selection on the menu and a bit more on the plate ! It is a delightful place and the staff were very attentive .I would recommend for a special occasion .
Very disappointed with our visit as booked specially for Wellie Wednesday and Beef Wellington. The only free time in the restaurant was 8.15pm and I called to confirm the day before as the dish isn't in the a la carte and I was worried we were booked in the wrong part of the hotel. We arrived on time and ordered the special (BW) and after 10 minutes were told they'd run out!! They only had 1 left and we were 4 😭 The dinner was a special treat for our Mother who was leaving to travel a few days later and our last meal together, so I couldn't rebook for another day. Although the staff were very understanding and offered us a discount if we stayed, it deflated the evening. We had a pie instead which was good but not the same as Beef Wellington. After we received our mains, the manager came out with the last slice of BW and dare I say it... it was the saltiest meal I've ever tasted!! The beef, the gravy and the roast potatoes were ridiculously salty. I do hope that's not how it's served normally as unfortunately we won't be going again to try for a second time. I really want to give it another chance but worried...
Service can be more attentive.
We were giving wine glass when we order cocktails. No all of the plates were take away when we finish the bread.
The plates are not hot enough for the starter and main course.
