I wasn't feeling well and the hostess came to me to check if I was ok. She even brewed some tea for me. I had to leave my party to get to the emergency room and since I hardly ate, they didn't charge for my meal! I will definitely return when I am feeling better!
Haven’t been to Hoku’s in a long time. The ambiance wasn’t anything fancy or romantic, it was nice. The food is what made our visit Superb! Everything we had from Caesars salad, oxtail soup, scallop, adobo osso bucco and rib eye was phenomenal! Great service!
We always enjoy Hoku's, but this one was a little rocky. We were 15 minutes early but were not seated until 15 minutes after our reservation time. We had to stand by another 5 minutes while the wait staff cleaned up the water they had spilled on the table (and into two ladies' purses) while setting up. This was important since the delays meant we were pushing the closing of buffet service. We felt rushed.
I was fortunate to enjoy 2 birthday celebrations here. Dinner than Sunday Brunch. The dinner was with a larger group. The service was truly exceptional as they were always available, never requiring us to seek them out especially with a large group. The menu selections were varied enough for everyone to make a choice. This is the best Seafood Brunch on Oahu. The price is high but the quality and the value surpasses the cost. The surrounding views of the hotel grounds, beach and ocean was beautiful making the dining room not so confining like some of the other restaurants without windows or such an expansive view.
Julie Sasaoka was our server. Julie was very friendly and easy to talk to and attentive to our needs. Because of Julie’s great service and the food I would recommend Hoku’s to my friends. I myself will definitely be back again.
This was a special occasion and superbly enjoyable. I didn't give Hoku's five stars because there were a few dishes in the tasting menu that did not hit the mark. The fish of the day (a red snapper) was bland. The lamb also was under-seasoned. The sauce was a smidgen and the lamb could have been enhanced. Every other course was delightful -- from the amuse bouse of salmon to the warm haupia dessert. We added foie gras and it was perfectly prepared. The wine pairings were adventurous and very enjoyable! The chablis was the only wine that came up short - but that's a chablis! Overall, the service was flawless -- not intrusive but there when a need arose. We will return!

I’m Very disappointed regarding our Seating arrangement Request ALWAYS failed by the Hoku.
I’ve been making reservation 1 or 2times a month, when I have visitors in town, with specific request for seating @ the Table #59 or 60 (in front of Ocean view); when I receive a confirmation call from your Agent 1or 2days before that our request has been “successfully arranged”.
However NEVER Prepared for our Seating Table upon arrival at the front desk & made us wait 15-20min. in order to (struggling) find us a any Table.
It’s Totally Not Acceptable & very unprofessional manner furthermore what is the reason to make a reservation with specific request one month earlier!
I hope you’d consider rectify this matter with your organization, otherwise you d loose very loyal customers like me.
My wife and I fiund out about this restaurant from a relative and decided to go there to celebrate a birthday. We were so impressed with the Great food and great service that we came back to celebrate our anniversary. Thank you Hoku’s for the great memories 👍
Wife and I both ordered the degustation and one of the eight dishes was absolutely phenomenal: the sautéed sea bass with truffle nage. The other dishes were delicious but lacked the wow factor. Whenever I order a tasting menu type fare, I'm looking for the chef's creativity in bringing together a unique medley of flavors. Unfortunately, I didn't taste anything that makes me want to go back. I will say, however, that the dishes were beautifully presented and all components of the dishes were done very well; nothing poorly seasoned or over- or undercooked.
As for the waiters, service was excellent with one exception. One of the waiters brought each dish and prefaced it with statements like, "oh you're going to love this" or "this is so good". I would rather they simply explain the ingredients of the dish and say something like "enjoy" or say nothing.
Hoku's brunch buffet has become the place we go to celebrate special occasions. The service here has been great! Staff are attentive and refill water, drinks, coffee, bring the made to order items ahi musubis, pasta with soft shell crab, and omlettes, and remove dishes in a quick and friendly manner. The views of the grounds and ocean are beautiful. The variety of food is great, sushi, sashimi, lobster, crab legs, eggs Benedict, rack of lamb, prime rib, shrimp tempura, bacon, sausage, French toast and almond croissants, clam chowder, and a range of desserts petite sized for sampling them all! There was panna cotta, cookies, haupia cake, pineapple napoleon, Chocolate fountain, soft serve with toppings, and bread pudding with creme anglaise. Love the ahi poke musubis with the crispy rice. Can't wait to come back for the next occasion!
So so food. Greasy, heavy, fried and garlicky across the board. Service was intrusive and icky. Waitress was over the top and seemed nuts. Server of food admonished us to like it. Manager and hostess arguing out front.
If f your most important need at a restaurant is to eat filling food, and you do not mind a wait staff consisting of mimes, this is the place for you.
Food was average, service was friendly but slow, and we were seated in a clump of other diners despite other open tables offering more privacy. We were told these tables were reserved but they went vacant for the next 90 minutes. Unbeatable views, decor, and plush ambiance.
