Hokkaido Sushi and Hibachi Ratings and Reviews
I came here for a bridesmaid dinner night and the food and drinks were delicious! We ordered Hibachi and a few girls ordered Sushi. Some of my girls had to wait for drinks for awhile and the service was very slow on that. We waited about an hour before our cook started cooking. Overall they were wonderful and made my day special and brought out a dessert for my party and I. Our server tried her best to get everything asap. I would definitely go back for the food!
My husband and I both love Hokkaido, and we visit occasionally for Hibachi, mostly for special occasions. Of all the Hibachi places in the area, this is our favorite. It's not chaotic, crowded or noisy like other restaurants, and the chefs and the food are top-notch! My favorite entree is garlic shrimp, and my husband loves Hibachi shrimp, but we've also tried steak and chicken dinners which we also enjoy.
We went to Hokkaido for my birthday celebration and had the best time! It wasn't very busy so we had an entire table and chef to ourselves. He entertained us and answered all of our questions about his awing cooking performance (including the many tricks he showed us). Our server was very attentive and took many pictures for us of the experience. To top it off they brought me a *free* and very delicious birthday dessert big enough to share with everyone that was topped with a giant sparkler/firecracker. It was pretty amazing. The hibachi was also absolutely delicious and very flavorful. We will definitely be coming back!
I must say that my experience at Hokkaido was phenomenal the ambiance was great the food was very delicious the cook was amazing, the staff was very friendly and polite the bartenders were great and the martini's was everything I look forward to dining again in the near future.
The atmosphere was energized - like being at a show. My husband had never experience a Hibachi Grill meal. I might return, the fried rice and maybe something else. The soup was salty. The table was split so that service could be regulated for each group that was seated. We enjoyed the flavor of the fried rice, but the salmon, steamed rice and vegetables were overcooked. Although the shrimp was flavored well, they were really small for the cost. The cooks and service was well-timed and friendly, although we were served by the hostess instead of the waitstaff.
I have been to this restaurant for sushi many times in the past. First few times the nigiri and sashimi were pretty good and many different kinds of fish to choose from. However, things are being changed during the last couple times I visited. Every time I saw new menu which has fewer and fewer nigiri and sashimi items to choose.
Last night (Sat) I thought to give it another try. When I walked in at 7:30 pm, I knew I made a mistake. The sushi section has NO customer at all. Got the menu, saw only 4 types of raw fish on the menu and not even have any salmon roe or any type of fish eggs. Ended up we decided to order just few simple maki and sashimi and a vegetable tempura and a steam rice for my child. The rice was warm but hard and the funniest thing was they gave the ginger salad dressing for the tempura. I thought the wrong sauce was just brought out and told the server to bring us the tempura sauce. After talking to our server, surprisingly she didn't know what is tempura sauce nor the kitchen. Ended up they gave use some other sauce which I didn't know what that is. Maki and sashimi was ok but can't compare what we had in the past in this restaurant. I first review this restaurant with 4 stars and sadly I have to give 1 star now and it would be my last visit.
We went during lunch time. There were only a couple other tables filled. The restaurant looked like it would be more suitable for evening time. The food presentation was beautiful. It seemed heavy on the mayonnaise for our taste. However, the service was the best out of many different restaurants we have tried! Sorry I did not ask the server's name! She was friendly, informative, and "on the ball".
Took my mom to have sushi. Walked in and no body was eating. Took several minutes for someone to seat us. Two kids were running around all over the place, making noise. I think it was the owners kids. Hostess couldn't answer any questions I had. Walked right out. Will not try again. This was a Saturday night.
It was ok just thought our double date would have been more exciting our group tried to get the cook more loud and fun but seemed like he just wanted to cook an that was it didn't even do ketup thing other tables cook seemed good kind of disatified with service
This was our second time there & everything was good. Went with another couple. The only complaint was the music. Even though it was energetic it was too much for a dining expierence. Great if the dining area was cleared and turned into a dance floor! It was challenging to have conversations at our dinner table, other than that it's a nice place. We will be back!
When you walk into this place, it immediately hits you with its beautiful decor. THEY HAVE A HUGE FISH TANK ON THE FLOOR. The Hostess was pleasant and service was VERY attentive. The food was the BEST. I had Hibachi and my date had sushi. It was great a great experience!
We went here for my sons birthday yesterday, while we were having dinner we noticed 3 other children celebrating birthday's and they bought them a slice of some type of cake and sang to them...nothing for my son. First thing I said when we got there is that we are celebrating his birthday. Our waitress was rude, the food was not tasty, rice was crunchy, the vegetables they served were mostly onions and our chef was boring. We go to hibachi for all of the tricks while cooking...nothing! Skip this place, the best thing about it was the decor.
I have to admit that the food was pretty good but that is really about all we enjoyed. Of course you get the same old hibachi routine but we want more. The place is not very organized and half of the decor (like the fish tanks, etc.) didn't work or looked cheaply done. We were served a skimpy soup with a white plastic disposable spork. Come on guys! I feel this place has potential to be amazing if it had the right management in place.
We made a reservation for 930pm and were not sat until 10pm. We ended up getting a super awkward waitress to greet us another 10 min later & the first thing she said to us was "guys, im just going to tell you right now that all im going to do is take your order and put it in the computer and whenever it comes out is NOT my fault. ok, not my fault." We didnt get the chef to start cooking until almost 11pm. and it took some people at ourtable 1 hr to get a sushi roll they ordered when they ordered drinks. Only good thing about this experience was the food was good, but we were not given any of the traditional hibachi sauces for veggies and meat. The chef was also entertaining, but the staff was beyond unprofessional. We won't be coming back.
The food was great and the chef was also very good at entertaining and cooking at the same time. The only problem I saw with the restaurant they overbooked for valentine's day. We didn't get to be seated after 2 hours of wait. Even with a reservation. But at least they had a bar to have some drinks. Overall it's a great place.
Hostess was obviously disorganized, short staffed in waitresses and chefs. We were sat 15 minutes after reservation, not bad. We then sat there for 50 minutes until waitress came to take drink order. By the time dinner was cooked and finished it was 2 1/2 half hours later. If you don't mind waiting that long for a meal then this is a place for you. You can drive to Benihanas that is 2 miles away and have a way better experience and be in and out in a lot less time
My husband and I had Valentine's Day there - our reservation was early at 5:30, and there weren't that many tables taken at that time. Still, they were very understaffed as the night went on, you could tell. I felt bad for our waitress - she was a nice girl and dealt with my food allergies very kindly (even when the chef messed up and I had to send something back)... She handled herself very well under the pressure of having so many tables. However, it's a good thing we weren't in a rush to leave, because it took us two hours to leave there by the time we got our food and paid the bill, etc. Food-wise, most of it was extremely tasty and I would absolutely eat there again, however, the hibachi steak was WAAAYYY overcooked and too chewy. I'm going to cut them some slack, but you can bet I'm going to ask them to cook it medium next time.
We went to this restaurant on Valentine's Day. We had a 5:15 reservation and were not seated for 15 minutes. Multiple parties seated ahead of us who arrived later. I had to tell them who we were 4 times. We needed to be out quickly because we were headed to a concert.
The waiter was slow, had to repeat himself, seemed to be new. The food was pretty good overall. They forgot to provide the shrimp appetizer to our group, which comes with the meals. The room was very cold where the fresh air vent was, so they need to work on that. They were slow in providing our bill and checking us out. As a result, we were 15 minutes late to our concert. Had they not squandered 25 minutes before and after the meal, we would have been out on time.
While our server seemed new, he was willing to find out information and keep us informed. He was very fast and efficient. We sat at the Hibachi, the Hibachi chef was great! The proportions were awesome! The only thing I have to say is when we walked up to the restaurant, there is an Asian buffet next to the restaurant. Kind of misleading as we walked in that door by accident. Not sure if they are connected or not but they could use some better signage on the doors. I will definitely be back. The food was awesome! Highly recommend.
We really enjoy Hokkaido. And have dined there several times. If we are deciding where to go out for a nice meal, my 6 year old son often asks; "Can we hibachi!!"
The food is very tasty, the lobster & scallops were a touch over done, but the filet was perfect. The chef was very engaging and my 2 year old daughter was enamored with him.
A very fun night out whether its date night, or a whole group!
