Hoist House Restaurant at Swiftwater Cellars Ratings and Reviews
The only thing I would change was the bread, one of the worst I ever had. I was so craving carbs and looking forward to the brad and was disappointed... Our waiter took care of us though and brought us something special.
The only other thing was small but a better desert presentation would have been nice but tasted good...
Went there for our 40th anniversary, were told to expect a special dessert by our waiter, it never came. Our son had called earlier in the day leaving his credit card number so that any drinks and or wine were paid for my him as a surprise for us, it never happened. We were placed by an outside door that was constantly opening to an outside patio by children running in and out when the temperature was only 30 degrees, making for a very disruptive and cold dining experience. All in all very disappointed considering the cost.
The bar has live music on Friday and Saturday but there is no buffer between the band and the restaurant. When we went, on a Saturday, the music was so loud that we could barely hear our dinner conversation. The restaurant must find a way to buffer the level of music blasting in from the lounge.
We were having a nice evening and booked this time as a retreat for a friend who is going through a very tramatic time in life, apparently we over stayed our welcome, we were told that they only allowed 2 hours for their "big top" tables. I was talked to like I was a fellow waitress or something not like a guest. We got up and left and then I told the "assistant manager" that I have never been asked to leave like that, we have dined at like restaurants and some much more renowned and never had this happen before. The waitress was wonderful and the food was good but beware not to over stay your welcome. We were offered a complimentary bottle of wine to take home on my way out the door but that didn't really make up for what happened.
I love this place, and always find a reason to go back when I'm in the area. I always remember how good the food is, how beautiful the building and the surrounding areas are, how nice the people are that work there, and how cute the little shop is in the building. The thing I always forget is how SLOW the service is there. Whether we are there with a small family or a large group, their service is just so slow. I am ok with this when I'm sitting enjoying wine, but when I just want to go in for a nice lunch and it takes 2 hours (with my little kids), that's a bit much. I will still go back because I love it I will just TRY to remember how long it takes to get your food and eat.
We have been to Swiftwater many times and it is always great. This time we brought two friends with us and it was their first time. They both loved the food, one had the steelhead and the other had the tomahawk steak. They also raved about the wine flights, we had the number 9 flight and the red flight. Staff was friendly and attentive as usual.
another great experience at Swiftwater. They literally serve the biggest martini's anywhere. Had the calamari appetizer - super good. Entrees were solid as usual. They seemed to be a little understaffed for a Thursday night, but several people chipped in to serve us while our waiter was detained with other tables.
Our first visit to Suncadia Resort. We decided to try Hoist. We had no expectations as we were there on a whim. What a wonderful surprise! We enjoyed everything about the place. Food was delicious. Service was awesome. We had Gabe as our server and he was perfect. Can't wait to go back.
Very disappointed in the quality of tonight's dinner. Plates and meal were cold and when the issue was raised, the team attempted to re-warm, but meal came back cold and with no cutlery. Mentioned this to the wait staff and while they did discount the meal, it didn't solve the problem.
Very disappointed with the overall experience for the table (forgot coffee order, different flavors of gelato served versus description, overall lack of concern with quality - only band-aid solutions).
Expect more from what is typically a top notch restaurant.
Food was ok. We ordered the beer salad and street tacos. I had to keep spitting out gristle in the street tacos. The beet salad was good but not extraordinary. What we really enjoyed was the wine tasting. Get the charcuterie to go with it. 3 meats, 3 cheese and rosemary flatbread. Highly recommend. Very friendly bartender.
The steelhead was just as fantastic as other reviews have suggested. So good, we went back a second time during our stay. Our service was excellent the first evening when we booked on open table. Service was average our second afternoon. Best finer dining available at Suncadia.
the service was great. the food was lacking, my halibut tasted like ammonia & when I mentioned it to the chef he said it smelled fine to him when he cooked it. Sorry but why be arrogant . I wasn't asking for a free meal, just a heads up. He could have said thanks i'll check it out. since this is the second below average meal in a row, I will give them a few months to get their act together before I go back. there are plenty of below average options in
Cle elum for a lot less money.
I was disappointed in the food and table this time. My fish was over cooked which the waitress apologized and took it off which was very kind. My husband's 47 dollar steak was just okay he said. I put that it was our anniversary and we had a table in back with all the traffic and tons of noise. Nothing special. We love Suncadia/swiftwater for the scenery and venue. We probably should have just stayed in bar.
My sister and I took our daughters here as part of a girls weekend and we loved it! The service was exceptional and the food was enjoyed by everyone. Portions were large especially the desserts - recommend sharing the desserts!
Because this Winery Restaurant is in the famed "Suncadia" resort, we thought it would be a great place to go for dinner for my sister's birthday. The only thing that was amazing were the food prices - on average $35.00 a plate. Here's what we got for our $120.00 bill: 2 glasses of wine, a plate of hummus with costo-like vegetables, an iceburg lettuce salad with 5(!) small prawns and some crab meat, and the sea bass plate. The sea bass plate was good (but not that good), the lighting was dim to the point of depressing, as were the furnishings, the place mats were plastic, the silverware was cheap and the maitre d was wearing a polyester polo shirt.
To their credit - they gave us a free dessert because it was my sister's birthday, but nothing was high class. We wouldn't recommend this place at all.
Lunch or dinner on the patio at the Hoist House is a summertime "must do." Lovely setting and service, the wine flights are a fun tasting adventure. The food is good, not stellar, which may meet the expectations of this customer base. Caveat is pricing- it's an all day menu and super pricey for lunch, even by Seattle standards.
Swiftwater is always a gastronomic feast regardless of what you choose. The appetizers are great and varied, salads all extra good and a great selection of entres' with something for everyone/anyone.
Staff is attentive but not hovering. Never feel rushed although it's always bustling, especially on weekends.
Outdoor seating from the bar area is very nice. It is quiet, great views, full food, service, and wine/liquor menu. I would recommend it to everyone. Our servers were always smiling and kept the water glasses and wine glasses full!
While the view was spectacular, the food and service was anything but. Nothing seemed to be seasoned properly, and some of the dishes were downright unpalatable. I recommend that you not get the halibut: the fish was okay, but the sauce tasted sour and the rice was gummy. I also caution you about the Wagyu steak if it's the special of the evening. It's about $75, less than 6 oz and again, had no flavor. The service by our primary waitress was extremely slow, however, the bus boys were prompt and attentive, so we always had water and bread For a $200 meal, I would expect more.
