Hog and Hominy Ratings and Reviews
The food was excellent and they have a really great menu. Our server was attentive and friendly without being intrusive or over the top. We had the Poutine as and appetizer. It was delicious. I ordered the Polenta which was very good and extremely filling. My husband had the hot dog and liked it as well. The ambience was nice, but it is very casual and noisy. However, the patio looks very inviting, and I will definitely go back and try the patio when the weather warms up a bit.
Had always dined here for dinner after 5 pm. Did not know that 3 to 5 pm is $10 pizza time! Some of the most creative pizzas i've seen in a while. We enjoyed the opportunity to try something new. So glad we took advantage of this opportunity. The awesome cocktail menu has something for everyone's individual taste along with a great beer selection. Really don't need a reservation if you're going in before 5. Knowlegeable Wait staff answers ALL your questions. You can't lose when you go with their suggestions!
Ashley made great recommendations and took good care of us. We loved the oysters and octopus! The pizzas are so creative and the gluten-free crust is great. The kitchen staff was accommodating to our need for gluten-sensitive modifications. I feel lucky that this place is in east Memphis. Can't say enough nice things about this place.
This was our first visit to Hog and Hominy. We had a lovely time. The food and service was excellent. It was a cold evening outside. We were seated near the entrance so I had to keep my wrap on. It was also loud around us, so difficult visiting with our friends. In spite of this WE WILL try again! We’ll just try a different location for seating. We enjoyed the evening.
We had heard and read this was a top place to go. This place is sooo overrated. We had a reservation for 7:45 but called and confirmed for 7pm. We arrived early 6:25 and they said they most likely could take us before 7pm. We were finally seated at 7:50. No place to sit and wait, we finally convinced them we could sit near the service kitchen while having a drink waiting for our table, The front of the house has no clue what they are doing or how to manage table turnover.
We had 3 different pizza’s and 1 polenta with fried egg and brisket, The pizza was Luke warm and tasteless and the polenta was lumpy with enough brisket that would only cover a half sandwich.
I would never waste my time going there again nor should anyone else.
I was in Memphis on business and went about finding a place near my hotel using my Open Table app. Voila - the first restaurant that came up (since it was the closest) was Hog & Hominy. So I booked myself and since I was a party of 1, they had a place set for me at the bar. Chris and Tina, the bartenders, took exceptional care of me. I ordered the wood fire oysters and the meatballs that included guanciale (pork cheek) in the mixture. It was absolutely fantastic! I'm no stranger to Italian meatballs but this far exceeded anything I've had before. It's a MUST. This was a terrific laid-back place that should be on anyone's foodie destination while in Memphis. 5 stars!
My friend and I had a delicious brunch. She had never eaten here before and I had only twice for dinner. What a fun, relaxed and interesting atmosphere. Lots of action to watch but not in your face disturbing. We both needed a moment to get away from work and have fun!!
We started with coffee (delicious) I believe it’s French Truck coffee. (The best!) Next were bloody Mary’s and the oven grilled oysters. Spicy and cheesy. Very good.
I ordered the steak and eggs and she the pizza with the drizzle of honey on it. That pizza is so very good with a mix of sweet and savory.
Seems like many of their dishes have a spicy kick. Love it! We’ll be back !!
